Pops do well, but I think for a store like yours, stay away. They take up SOOOO much space and they're never ending. You'll think you have the complete collection and then they release more for you to get. It just doesn't stop... (Coming from someone who once had over 1200 pops... In an apartment.)
A guy that I work with owns over 500 funko pops that he has in a storage unit yet lives in a crappy apartment, doesn't own a car, and complains about not having a girlfriend or any extra money.
In Connecticut anything good that comes into the store they never sell and keep for him, he’s poser that probably hasn’t beaten more than 5 games in his life
Don't carry Pops. In a few years you will have an entire backroom of just unsold Pops, trust me, not a road you want to go down. Plus the insane and annoying collectors who dig through and mess up the display and order you spent so much time on. Pops are the worst, take up a ton of space, don't net much $$$, and they constantly send you more and more when you already have shelves of unsold product.
@Piratepop7 don't know why the hate sure some of Mass produced but like the one I have are rare. You can find lots of rare pops and now Autographed pops and graded. They are great if you get the good ones.
With the pops if you are going to try a small section, Funko made a line of pops literally called retro toys so they made pops of Stretch arm strong, furrbies, trolls, ect. I would go with those if you are planning on trying a small section.
Imo I think stocking pops is a good thing providing you keep with the feel of the store and don't fall in to the trap of collecting or hunting pops , yeah some are expensive but you may wait months for someone to find and buy it where as affordable pops will always sell quicker , not everyone has hundreds to spend on nostalgia so keeping the range affordable should provide good turn over .
It seems like the people in nerd or geek culture are really some of the most decent and coolest folks anywhere around. I appreciate the hell outta the positive vibes I get from watching this content. Joe is a bad dude!
Pops are a slippery slope. If you go that route, just carry ones that fit the store feel, retro and gaming inspired. Well done on the ro sham bo for the shirt!!
@@carlossaucedo34 "Earlier this month, the pop culture collectible company Funko announced it was going to throw $30 million worth of Pop! figures in the garbage because its warehouses were overflowing with excess stock". There you go, make millions of that crap and ends up in trash.
Love that Nintendo merch. Those game cases kept intact made my day. I can't believe game hunters are still finding this kind of stuff but I'm so glad they are. I can only dream of finding gaming grails like that stuff. Keep up the great work, guys!
😂 😂 puts the Pokémon game down and says my turn. 😂 classic. Always a great time with Retro Rick. You always seem to amaze me the stuff you come across. That world championship tee is 🔥🔥. I appreciate the education on it with Donkey Kong being the original one. Always looking forward to the next content drop.
Pops you’re going down a deep rabbit hole that doesn’t seem to stop. You might be stuck with a back room full of pops that just don’t sell. However, they do sell really well too. I have a friend in Fl that has a retro store, and he does really well selling pops. He does sit on some for a long time too. Just something to think about.
back in highschool in the mid 2000's i took some marketing classes they were pretty fun. ill never look at some movies the same way again.. one of the assignments we were watching BTTF and we had to count all the product placements in the movie like all the times a pepsi sign or someone drinking a pepsi.. a clock brand, and emblem on a car etc.. just anything that had a name to a real life company and it was really fun. makes you think about how much those companies paid to have it in the movie or for someone to drink it in the movie. and when you understand the way the mind works about all of it. its quite interesting. all those commercials you still remember the jingle to and can sing along to it all these years later? also marketing. make it catchy enough to remember and people will buy from your business if theyre looking for that kind of service.
Don't think I've ever seen Rick let someone else buy an item when they both want it. Riff is constantly letting rick have things they both want but Rick always seems to be like "no I want it" or "I saw it first"
Yeah keep those Mario walkie talkies in the box on a shelf, because i can tell you I had them as a kid they have the range of someone whispering in a telephone string cup.
i would only carry pops you find in the wild for dirt cheap and can flip. this way you're more in control. you don't have to worry about being completely under and having a surplus.
Nice to see someone else says " rock, paper, scissors, SAYS, shoot" Thats how it always was as a kid growing up in brooklyn But then when I moved it seemed like i was crazy when noone included "says"..."says" was a whole shoot, cant play against someone who's shooting their hand a whole word before you are. Haha. Dont know why I thought of that 😂. Love your videos for sure!!
Well, if you think about it. You can just Google that retro Mario picture. Have a shirt print shop print that into a shirt. Then you don't have to pay ridiculous amount of money for a Mario shirt from way back then.
Omg 😭 i grew up in San Francisco, born in 90 . There was this place called “ the jungle “ right on top of the toys r us building .. it was a arcade/obstacle course for kids.. and my FAVORITE game to play in there was the SUPER MARIO PINBALL MACHINE .. I have never seen one again. But now I know they are still out there.. I will find one and buy one 😭
As a kid I had that Chicago Bulls shirt that Rick is wearing. That shirt is definitely over 30 years old. I've been looking for it for a long time, but haven't found it yet 😢
I'd definitely build something to brace that cardboard stand better. All it would take is a customer accidentally denting the cardboard with a trip or fall, then goodbye kiosk.
It hard not to go into a game store that doesn't sell pop they are highly collectable and an easy way to make a profit on so why not as long as they don't over take the store. Sometimes you got to go with what sells and is popular as video game aren't always going to keep the lights on.
Kris is a hell of a dude, love watching and listenining to his commentary on Pixel Plus.

Exactly what i was thinking . Probably should stay away from pops because there'e just soo many variations and take up so much space .
@SnailSales so true. Only ones I know that seemed to stop releasing new pops is Tekken, Resident Evil and Halo.
A guy that I work with owns over 500 funko pops that he has in a storage unit yet lives in a crappy apartment, doesn't own a car, and complains about not having a girlfriend or any extra money.
What a fantastic owner . You could just feel his passion for gaming and collecting !
In Connecticut anything good that comes into the store they never sell and keep for him, he’s poser that probably hasn’t beaten more than 5 games in his life
As a reseller, I find old horror vhs tapes sell the best. Also people love the 80s more than the 90s and especially if it’s the first release.

@Consuelo Villegas thousands of people honestly
@Piratepop7 try millions of people. Is one of the hottest collectible products of all time. That'd why you see them alot
@Piratepop7 don't know why the hate sure some of Mass produced but like the one I have are rare. You can find lots of rare pops and now Autographed pops and graded. They are great if you get the good ones.
Pops give me Beanie Baby vibes. From someone who has lived through both...
@Consuelo Villegas so many people buy pops
Great video. Poor Riff missed out. Love it when Chris and Riff are in Video's.
You guys are great together. Love it.

Lol at Chris and Rick’s store owner instincts kicking in at the same time 13:15
Nice catch, funny

The Bruce Almighty spoon scene gets me every time 😁😂
Me to lol

Retro rick with a cracked out side ways hat is. .....PERFECTION...
So awesome of him doing that for you Rick with the shirt, That's what true friends do.
So much joy in this video. Thank you guys!
Not a fan of pops but you should create a small section and see if they sells. You should test to see what your market responds to
Forget the Pops, those things are dying just like Beanie Babies.
People been saying that for the last 5 years only been going up.
Referring to the 1996 Nintendo beanie baby’s?
@@carlossaucedo34 I guess you don't read the news because the company is throwimg millions of them away. Majority of them don't even sell.

He has so much rad stuff in his store. And that shirt is so sick!
Funk yeah, Rick. I love this community of gaming friends...yll are my favorites to watch on youtube hands down!
Couldn't stop smiling watching this video! Love it!

My favorite part too 😂😂😂
I would love to meet Rick. I am not much into retro collecting myself but I enjoy watching this very much.
Congratulations, Rick
You don't need the Pops!! Take up too much space. Great video!!! Man Kris's store is freaking awesome!!!!!! Good ole Rock, Paper, Scissors!!
No pops
Those things are going to fill the landfills instead of regular garbage......
That neo geo he has are awesome cabinets...they have a system that takes cartridges and very collectible and had great games
Some of the skate vids from the 90s-00s are hard to find online, so nice that there are still VHS copies out there.

I’m a store manager for a major British retailer and you sound like us talking about shop layout!
I love the community! Great video guys!

I thought Rick was gonna run outside and yell "It's FOR MY SON" LOL!!!
I'm a simple guy. I see a new Retro Rick video I click! 😂
I hate when my favourite stores just turn into a sea of pop figures. They've taken over and ruined some of my childhood favourite stores.
Exactly this. It angers me to no fucking end while thinking about it now. Who on earth would ever want such shit figurines?
My friends have that mario pinball at their game shop. Absolutely amazing to play!!!!
Awesome video and a great looking place!!!
That rock paper scissors match was intense.
Cheap Finds Gold Mines!! What happened to those guys!? Really liked watching their videos
I want to know also. They just vanished without any explanation. I think they had a few wot not auctions after they vanished. But that's last I saw
Seriously.. amiee and corbin's sister are so d*** hot.
Chris was saying the PlayStation Kiosk is all cardboard and no metal at all, but there was twisted metal on the screen .... lol
lmao the stuff that guy had bought from riff had Rick like "Mario 3 walkie talkies are they from you🤨"

Awesome vibes here! Great video.
He says, "alright, my turn" LoL
The price stickers on Pokemon cards is one of the best ideas I've seen in a while.
You both seem extra happy, comfortable and authentic in this video. Great to see, may that trend continue. :)

Would you rather Q: buy a Dreamcast bundle with sonic adventure and Crazy taxi or a genesis bundle with sonic 1 and Mk 1
If your going to carry Funko, I would stick with store related pops like he said (vintage character/ gamer pops), and exclusives also tend to do well
Duuude, at 6:45 I want that Mortal Kombat Deception shirt with the Gamecrazy logo.
A Liquor Store by my HS in Westminster, CA had that Super Mario Pinball back in the day
what a great store he has! so cool that riff found him those nes shelves too!! those r sick!!

Funko Pop : Dont sell pops theyre no longer trending
Great episode! 😀
*Rick got that drip, lookin dummy stupid wit it lmaooo*
That MBs pin goes for $4k to $5k. They landed a deal. The Topper is for Nintendo VS Super Mario Bros.
Yes Pops, please! Specialize in the Video Game and 90s Pops at least. That would be sick! Those are what I collect.
Just realize I was at that game store with the Jean jacket retro Rick lol
This channel is awesome!
