We are back game hunting at the Socal Retro Game Expo! Today is all about finding those rare and obscure Nintendo items. I finally find a Holy Grail piece that i've been looking for decades! Though it was a tough decision...it came home with me! Always on the hunt for retro games, vintage toys and 80s / 90s nostalgia at Flea Markets, Thrift Stores & Garage Sales! $500 for that Virtual Boy in the Blockbuster case was a steal! I had one of those, along with most of the games CIB, but it all got stolen in a recent burglary. Been looking to buy a replacement, but they're all much higher than that.

My dad is a sewing machine mechanic and got one of those sewing machine game boys to fix. The person never came back so I was given the game boy color.
That super Mario 3 display is ridiculously amazing. I would love that piece in my man cave.

i can understand the nostalgia towards the mario happy meal (display) . i have the same with the sonic the hedgehog happy meal. i made sure to score the toys plus their boxes (in europe we had cool boxes you could make dioramas out of) a few years ago. never found the display for a good price though.

The mario 3 McDonald’s display is a piece I’ve been trying to get for my collection for a while now. Just last year I was seeing then go for $300! It’s wild to see how much they have shot up In price. They were asking top dollar but the condition was wonderful. Congrats to you on adding it to the collection. You really need to start thinking about maybe getting a new house or getting an outdoor shed because there’s no way you’ll have enough room by the years end to display all of this stuff
They're still going for around $300-$350 on eBay even for a complete cherry 🍒 one. He overpaid, got too excited and probably didn't even check comps. I know his mission is to buy in person not online but paying a $200+ premium? 🤦🏻♂️
Whatnot needs a quality check. About 80% of what I've bought has been awful and some were unplayable. The show looked awesome. Cool stuff to see.
That McDonald's Super Mario 3 display looks awesome, and I am definitely on the lookout for one of those as of right now complete with all the parts. Only ones I have seen are missing the sign piece up top though. Great score on that for under $700!

It's so hard finding old games and memorabilia here in Australia if it's not on Ebay. Love watching your videos Rick. Should get a channel going where you have game nights
My favorite thing was really the thing you got or the ocarina of time figurine that you showed us in the box. I'm a nintendo fan, so I wish I could attend that con. It looks like they have so many nostalgic things!
There are few things more nostalgic for me that that Mcdons mario 3 display I was obsessed with mario bros. and getting those toys. That thing is just super cool and a grail piece for sure. Congrats!

I remember passing on the Star Fox weekend challenge and the DK competition cart because they weren't even full games.
I'd pay $500 for that Power Glove case though. I have it in the box, but it's not in the best shape.

I had Star Fox Super Weekend, found it at a church yardsale. I sold it about 6yrs ago for $500, needed Christmas money. It kills me when I see what it's worth now!

Awesome video and items! Not exactly rare but discontinued per say, but at an anime con a few months ago a guy had gobs and gobs of like 1990-2000 or so posters and calendars form Evangelion and Sailor Moon and stuff. It was cool to see old stuff like that :D

Suoer cool seeing those n64 tiles cib. I always enjoying looking at those just brings me back to my childhood. But also really liked the info on the Donkey Kong snes game, it seens like nearly anything collectible from Blockbuster is supee high up there are rare...if only we knew😥

Plus it’s like a cross over collectible.
The vintage tee market is insane.
Plus no print runs so many unique one of one items.
Also the hardest to price comps are all over the place .
I started in vintage sportswear before I got into retro games. Very different market place. Especially band tees insane I use to throw out my Metallica tees if they had holes in them , now my trash of yesterday’s is worth hundreds.
They are still 20 bucks, they're just trying to sell them for 200. Lol
With all my Nintendo hoarding, I would do very well as a seller at one of these! Wish I would research them more here in FL!

Iv seen that bearded guy with the n64 gold control pop up in people's videos showing that controller off. I think its the only thing he has, and he's super proud of it

I actually won the tournament at my local Blockbuster back in the day, but my mom couldnt take off work to take me to the next tournament so the guy I beat went on. Not sure how far he made it, but funny to think I played on one of those competition carts when I was a kid.
My aunt bought a vectrex at a yard sale in the 90's. It was so different from 90's console systems. The way the space ship moved and the vector graphics amazed me as a teen. I would turn off the lights and play it in the dark and the glow of the screen, the audio, and the low buzz/hum sound it made when it was on made it feel like I was in space.
The Vectrex is an 80s console; it wasn’t manufactured in the 1990s.

I found a Virtual Boy system CIB at a garage sale a few years back for like $20... I wanted to keep it so bad, but ended up selling to someone in Italy... it was the farthest I had shipped something at that point, and it was before the ebay international shipping program... I was super nervous the whole time, just hoping something didn't happen to it... I liked the system, but it was not something you could really play for long periods of time.
Thats what we want as Collectors, beautiful clean stuff
