    I went natural and grew my hair past my shoulders. I went and got a blow out. This lady burned my hair clean off. I never went back. And Justice was served because a year later her salon shut down. I started over and a few months later I went and got braids. I picked this lady up from HER HOUSE. Dropped her at the salon while I parked my car. She had a stinky attitude once I got in the shop. And proceeded to talk bad about me in her language, not realizing I could understand her. I had been going to this place on and off since I was 14. This lady finished my hair and during the process of burning the ends she was secretly burning the upper parts of the braids where my hair was. I had my glasses off so I did not realize until she got to the front of my hair 😢 I was young and dealing with a lot but I should’ve left as soon as she showed me her nasty attitude. NOW , NO ONE TOUCHES MY HAIR. I see so many people praising stylists who have no integrity. And you can tell because they overcharge and the edges be thinning, ends split and hair not flourishing etc. LADIES if your hair is not thriving with a stylist PLEASE start doing your own hair. If a stylist is not passionate about helping your hair thrive they are not a good stylist and that is negative energy being transferred to you and your hair. Stop supporting these people and letting them touch your hair. I promise you it will force the industry to reform itself and save you a lot of pain.

    I can 100% attest to this topic. I have thick long 4b/4c hair that is a dark sandy color. A lot of women thought I had short hair because I keep it in updos like buns. When I wear it out and down women either love it or get really jealous especially if they hear other people complimenting my hair. The shock factor is beyond unreal when people see my hair.
    People have asked me to straighten my hair, too. I tell them that's not my cup of tea. I don't like straight hair on me and I don't want to ruin my hair.

      Although it is true that short hair can be healthy let's be honest how often do you see women hating on women with short natural hair? It being healthy or not? That is very seldom sis. Very. It is the women with length who get the stares and eye rolling. Not you ear and neck length naturals. And honestly that is considered baldheaded. I am not trying to be rude but it is. Just like relaxed hair that was short and broken off to ear and neck length was considered baldhead so is the case with natural hair. The only difference is texture.

    I don't know if this applies as natural hair jealousy but at my workplace when I first started working there alot of people wanted me to do a scalp test to see if it was real and because I was so hell bent on proving a point one day around lunch time I did and from there they were just so amazed and amused on how I managed to grow 4c type hair that long only one white man believe it was actually real but my fellow black people didn't....so now when people say my hair is a wig I take it as a compliment cause it reaffirms how much effort and work I've put in to give people that illusion

    Hair jealousy is real. I remember growing up other blacks would say you need a perm. Your hair is too thick and nappy. Nowadays they be giving those side-eye stares. You just know they are some jealous females. One girl even offered to silk press my hair but I noticed her silk pressed hair is damaged and the hair hardly has any movement. Stiff as a board. Uh no. • @gmcmim1
      @gmcmim1 4 месяца назад +14

      @@TheCocoaClubThat how you get it so voluminous part is true. I get that often as well. The answer is to keep your hair healthy in its natural state. Also get the hair silk pressed correctly. Blow dry the wet first to stretch the curls like the professionals do on youtube. Go over no more than twice when straightening. Preferably once if you got it down pact. Use heat protectant. Sometimes it is not that the hair is damaged it is just that the silk pressing method was not done right. Or the right hair products were not used. Healthy kinky hair looks good when silk pressed. Damaged hair looks bad even when straightened. If anything it being straightened shows how damaged it truly is. The hair is limp and stiff and the ends are see through. Also having the wrong people in your head can mess your hair up over time. Everyone does not have prospering, flourishing hands when it comes to hair. Whether intentionally or unntentionally. Some people don't know what they are doing and it shows in their own hair. But want to do yours so bad. Girl bye. Take care of the hair strands you got first then we can talk about if you can do my hair.

    It’s quite unfortunate. It comes from even your own family members. My own mother used to always say that didn’t know how to take care of my daughters hair and that I would make her hair break off. My own sister used to piggyback off of that and say the same thing. My sister would be the one who braided her hair from toddler all the way up to elementary school…reluctantly, because I didn’t know how to braided. My daughters hair never really grew past her neck line while my sister did her hair all those years. When I stopped sending her to my sister to get her hair braided, my daughter hair began growing like weed!! I treated her hair and found someone else to braid it so my mother never saw her actual length. When I finally silk pressed it in junior high school her hair was past her bra. Then now in high school it at the top of her behind. My mother saw her hair and told her to turn around. When she saw the length she didn’t say a word! She quickly switch the subject. The next week she called me and told me that she found a good garlic shampoo that is suppose to help her hair grow and keep it strong from breaking and that she is good to give me the shampoo for my daughter’s hair to help me with her😒. As if I have trouble growing her hair and keeping it healthy. Smh It’s sad and sickening. They really thought AND hoped that her hair would break off but keeping my sister’s hands out off her hair did the total opposite.

A lot of black women don't really even know how to care for their own hair but got so much advice on the next females haircare practices. Talk to me when you are free of bald spots and hair breakage. Until then do not sweat your lips to me about hair care. Get some hair of your own first. I am not talking about women who cut their hair short either. I am talking about these struggle haired women trying to grow hair and cannot.

      What got me is when you said your mother saw the length and said nothing. But had the nerve to send you a shampoo saying here is some shampoo to keep her hair from breaking as if you were not taking care of her hair already by having the right hairstylists in her hair. Had that been me I would have said I am good. I don't need the shampoo to keep her hair brom breaking. You see the length. Clearly I know what to do. Where was the acknowledgment for the length achieved? You can tell a hater by the things that they don't say as well as the things that they do. Me I keep people like that away from me. Unfortunately I had a stylist rip out a lot of my hair during the blow dry process. She was in a rush to get me done. Then I told her I didn’t want it straightened. She straightened it anyway. I told her I didn’t want layers. She layered it anyway. I asked her for a trim. I just wanted a clean blunt cut straight across. It was uneven. What’s crazy is even though it looked nice, my hair was super thin from being ripped out from the blow dry process. My hair wasn’t super healthy at the time to begin with, but it was worse after. I don’t wear it straight often or hardly at all and I more so just needed the cut to start fresh cause I had a lot of breakage. I am thankful however I didn’t have any heat damage from the experience. But my hair was so thin from being ripped out during the blow dry process. I would say it took almost 3 years to this date for my hair to recover.
    Since then, no one else has touched my hair 😂. Your video just explained exactly what happened. The compliments, being in a hurry, being rough, the suggesting I trim it, all of it! I’m grateful my hair has recovered, thriving, and not letting anyone else touch it ever again.

On the rare occasions I have worn it in a pony tail in public, I have had to wrap it into a bun for fear of some random person attempting to touch, yank, cut or pray something strange over my hair. The hair follicles have been damaged from where your cousin pulled. You need to awaken those hair follicles to start the hair growth production. Buy a scalp massager and get some oil. Preferably Rosemary Oil. Apply the Rosemary Oil and massage for about a good 5 minutes. It will take some time to see results but it will start to grow again.They say wash the oil out after. • @jalaaaah
      @jalaaaah 4 месяца назад +16

      i wouldn’t necessarily say they get their jealousy from light skin women, because we face textorism too. i’m a lighter complexioned black woman & my 4c hair was never something i was bullied for. it was the only “relatable” physical attribute i had that resembled my bullies. but my little sister who is a slightly darker brown skinned girl (meagan good’s complexion) with 4a hair, was praised for it by the same older girls i was picked on by. telling me she was “too pretty to be my sister”. while also telling me i “thought i was better than them” while also turning down any kind of friendship or games i wanted to play. to the point they were huddling outside with adults, banging on my great-aunt’s door, begging for me to be let outside just to fight them because i’d go in the house when i realized the group of girls were going to pick a fight no matter what i said or did.
      i hate the stigma that light skin women are these villians. i’ve always found unambiguous bw to be beautiful but i never experienced the same appreciation within the black community from my sisters until i was an adult & now people will compliment my locs.
      but that same great-aunt was darkskin & would also sometimes call my little sister and i “dirty red girls”. so it was weird seeing how she wasn’t passable for criticism to an older generation but in ours, her beauty was marveled.

      All of us black women are beautiful. We come in different shades. From my personal experience, dark-skinned women can often project their insecurities about how they feel about their own skin tone onto light skinned bw.
      I have skin of a lighter hue and was often was bullied by women in my family with skin of a darker hue. They would obsessively talk about skin color and had a festistic fixation with my skin tone. Going as far to make snarky comments about the legitamacy of my African heritage, tell me i'm not dark enough to be considered black, call me derogatory names like house slave, bedwench, light bright, mutt, recessive gene carrier, etc. Let's take time to acknowledge that dark-skinned people are often willful participants in colorism themselves. I'm not going to be shamed into not loving my golden olive skin tone or the admiration I get because of it. We are all reflections of each other. Dark skin or not.

      I am gonna be honest. A lot of black women dont know how to care for their hair without breaking it off. So don't expect them to care for yours. Family or not. Learn to care for your own hair or go to a trusted individual. Them being family or not. There is a saying that blacks know how to style some hair. That may be true but how many know how to manage hair? Braids is not managing the hair if your hair is falling out after you take them out or is still the same length after years of getting braids. What are they not doing? What are you not doing? Don't get too caught up in who can style some hair. Who can manage some hair. Maintenance is everything. I am not saying do not adore or appreciate hairstyles at all. Styles mean nothing if your hair is falling out. Black folks love to talk about how diverse their hairstyles are compared to other racial groups which is a lie. They have a different vast of hairstyles that they wear. All humans have diversity. But not all have the maintenance skills to keep their hair on their head. And that is where the care for your hair comes in to play.

The assumption that the weight of my extremely long locs began my excruciating neck pain I began to have and caused me to chop off my locs in the hope of finding relief.... The pain never ceased and my beautiful locs, which I still have today, sits in a large bag waiting yo one dat be reattached to my hair. But I have found what makes my hair grow and turned out to be the very same method that was used to grow my locs. I never put any tension on my scalp, after every wash, I deep condition it with a moisturizing hair mask for 30 mins under a steam cap, then rinse. U then add lots of leave in conditioner and argon oil and very loosely start a braid then quickly turn it into juicy twists. I oil my scalp with Jamaican black castor oil with Rosemary and massage my scalp as needed. I don't do anything else to my hair and I wash it every 1-2 months according to how I feel and my hair is growing at the same exact rate as my locs did when I had them... at this rate I will be natural for the rest of my life and I'm so proud of my crown... The photos of all th!!ese beautiful black women with all that gorgeous natural hair makes me so proud of my hair.

    Yes, there is length jealousy, texture jealousy, and just plain jealousy of your essence and energy, I've experienced it but not by the hand of a stylist thank goodness. I once had a coworker come right out and say to me, that the only reason men even look at me is because of my hair.

    So true, if you don't want to cut it ,don't be pressured by NoOne to cut your hair. Jealous is real ladies .that's why I do my own hair.i had to set backs because I was still learning how to care for my hair,it's no way I will allow a none caring person to chop inches after all that hard work. I'm 23 inches now ,and loving it ❤. Be careful ladies.

      @@reginakc I did not say anybody was hating on my hair. I said if they do not believe that I have long hair before. Then they are a hater. You misunderstood me. In the past females told me they were jealous of my long hair. This girl in my classroom had a bald head and she was jealous of my hair. So she conspired with this guy in my classroom to cut my hair. And he cut my hair with the scissors in the art room. So my mother came up to the school and reported this. And he got expelled from school for cutting my hair. Then he came back to fight me. But then I had moved to Long Island and the children in long island had just seen me when my hair was cut. So do not judge me. What you do not know about me.

      @@DidyW actually I did go to those pages and let them know the division was pointless and that the obsession with dark skinned women is almost comical. At first I tried reasoning with them but then I noticed Those type of pages depend on us for their self esteem to make them feel superior to something. That’s why I blocked them all from my timeline. I’d rather starve them of money, views, attention, and another dark skinned woman to attempt to feel superior over. Chrissie has a point. They need us. Why give them what they need. Ever notice they don’t have many views and subscribers? Why help their movement when they talk the way they do about us? Fuck them as far as I’m concerned. Let them have their space in peace.

    About the compliments, that is very true a person that over compliments you know right off the bat that they're jealous. That's the reason why I'm around women or come across women that brags about how magnificently beautiful I am I take it with a grain of salt and don't believe them. But I on the other hand, I LOVE giving women compliments. That is actually part of my ministry that I actually have adopted to make women feel beautiful, but I know people do it for different reasons and everybody doesn't think like I do.

    A lot of black women are anemic because of fibroid, they are stressed out at work dealing with micoagression nonsense, they don't eat well and exercise enough becausetheyre taking care of everyone else, and often engage in not the best hair care practices. All these things affect hair health. We need to take better care of ourselves and every black woman can grow their hair to their genetic hair ceiling whatever that is and have healthy long hair. We are dealing with a lot out here and people need to have some grace. Also in general this video is just weird

    • @SE-gs6gd
      @SE-gs6gd 4 месяца назад +2

      @@jennifercooljeo6552 we don’t know specifically what causes fibroids. Some are driven by estrogen likely as they have receptors some are estrogen null. It is absolutely true that fibroids are way way way more common in black and Asian women vs white women. These are facts. There is objective data on this. Little study has been done on how and when and why fibroids form in certain groups - which is a shame- but we do see familial trends so there is likely also a genetic component. As yes they can cause excessive bleeding and yes that can make you severely iron deficient anemic and yes that can cause hair thinning/loss of density.

      I did too but I thought my old stylist was just scared to trim my hair (kitchen stylist we were both 19/20 years old) she constructed tf outta wigs tho and her hair was always healthy and long during and after our high school days so i always trusted her with her hands in my head but I kinda let the bias in when she said that and I never heard any other older more experienced stylist say those words I thought she was bluffin but to answer your question i have heard that before. Hope it helps.
      As time went on I was tired of the unevenness so I just resorted back to trimming

That's like me being a doctor, and constantly complaining about McDonald's workers. Shouldn't such a person not even care? I guess when they see us getting preferential treatment it gives them cognitive dissonance. I went shopping with my bf at sephora and he gets me whatever I want and when I tell you people can't stop staring.
