I just got home from VietNam and was discharged at Ft.Lewis,Wa. My flight from Seattle to Chicago was on a brand new 747 51 years ago..the pilot noticing that I was in Army Avation gave me a tour of the cockpit of that behemoth! A memory that I will never forget!
Awesome. I retired from Boeing Everett last October. I used to go down to the 747 area and just be amazed at how big this place was. Thanks, brings back memories. I subbed.
In the US Navy 1971 going on summer leave. First ride on the 747 back when airliners offered real comfort and great music. Took off from San Francisco over the bay surrounding by lights as far as you could see. In no time the moon glistening off the Rockies while listening to the Moody Blues, Nights in White Satin. No plane trip has ever equaled that.
Would've have loved to see that 747 depart! Maybe one day I hope to see the Boeing plant in Seattle.l was unaware that the event was planned. Truly enjoyed the video! Thank-you LeeCrolley, III

Thanks for this. I honestly welled up a bit watching this and your flyby vid. I grew up flying on these aircraft in the 80s so it hits me somewhere. Also tracking her on FlightAware and PlaneFinder.
Thank you for watching, it has been emotionally bittersweet over the past few days celebrating The Queen of the Skies. We will be posting more content later today showcasing some of it. Feel free to subscribe so you are notified when it is posted. Did you see the flight path the plane is taking?
Ah, I was born in the eighties and didn’t have any interest in aviation until just under a year ago. I admit that I have no particular fondness for the 747. I don’t know why people love it so much. I mean there are several other four engine aircraft.
@@mikoto7693 May be other 4-engine aircraft but the 747 was absolutely legendary and a first of its kind it’s the original jumbo jet. It transformed aviation.
@nicks.6341 0 seconds ago I'll never forget my first time aboard a 747. It was 1985, I was a kid on the way to Athens, Greece with Olympic Airways. It was an absolutely magical experience (minus all the cigarette smoke). The 747 is Boeing's greatest achievement. Well done and godspeed, 747!
Captain Obvious here, watch how fast that beauty accelerates through V1-V2, positive rate, yanks the gear and had to be close to 5000 FPM climb. I know, light load, brand new everything but WOW.
I started on the 747 as a scheduler just after number 400 had rolled out. It was a great program to work on. It was sad to see this, but all good things must come to an end.
@@pathlesstraveled I was honored to be part of it. It really was a magnificent machine. What many people probably don't realize is how different these airplanes were from customer to customer. And all the different models that were in production at one time. When I hired in, the 747 was at maximum rate. That's 7 airplanes a month or one out the door every 3.5 days. It required two production lines. They hit that rate again with the 747-400. Some things you have to see to fully appreciate.
I feel like I’m missing out. I never liked aviation until about a year ago and thus has no particular attachment to the 747. There are other big four engine aircraft and apparently ever advancing technology is making them obsolete. Sometimes the world is cruel. The Concorde would still be more advanced than anything else if it still flew and had similar updates as the various models of 747 and 737, from the 737-100 to the max 8 for example.
#Thankyou747 #ThanksHeapsBoeing ❤❤🙏🏾🙏🏾. Thankyou so much Boeing, for having the uncanny, forward vision through the Father of the Queen, Mr. Joe Stutter himself, who drove this endevor to build this huge, Ark of the sky, that Blessed people the world over, by being able to ferry multitudes of People, Cargo and Commerce, and the 1st to connect any Continent to another nonstop. The memories are outstanding, LOVE you Boeing 747✊🏾❤!!
It’s ok. Nothings is the humane did that’s into the darkness that the world’s without me will be the biggest wars coming’s; the situation getting sadness on earth now?! Did they’re wanting to ends the earth’s so fast?!
Thanks for the video - 2 questions - presumably the pilot is an Atlas Air pilot? - at what moment - when the captain walks on to the plane? - when possession papers are signed minutes? Hours? days before this take off. Or a Boeing pilot delivers it to the Air Atlas home base??? Just curious when this official handover takes place.
Huh, first thing I noticed was the incredibly long intervals between the anti collision lights. I’ve never seen that before. But the airport I work at doesn’t serve 747s so it could be a 747 thing or cargo thing. But no they still require rampers. Odd.
@@kevinj2412 I have been on an A380 twice, in 2017 and 2019. Before that, I travelled on a four-engined airliner only once, in a QANTAS Boeing 707 in 1975. Sad to say, I have never travelled on a 747. I found the A380 a marvellous aircraft, the most comfortable airliner I have travelled on, and I'm sorry it has been undercut by all of these big twins. But only the 747 can be viewed as queen of the skies.

What flight do you remember most?
Abeautiful send off to the Queen .

My very first airplane flight was on a Boeing 747 from JFK to Bermuda in April of 1974. On what was then BOAC airlines
So now it's just triple 7's and a new 737 line that are being/ will be built at the big plant. Might be time to start thinking about the 797.

Fed Ex Pilot: "What dealer did you buy your new plane at?"
Atlas Air Pilot: "You could say I picked it up at the factory..."

The flight number was 5Y747
End of an era. What's next? Something as big with twin engines.
Given the fact these planes will still be flying for decades, it’s not really the last takeoff 🛫
First flight: February 9, 1969
Last flight: February 1, 2023 🫡🥹
I wish Joe Sutter could have been there!
Me too!
No there still are some 747 -8's going around the world
A380 and 747 is done :(

So are 4 engines not feasible anymore? Doesn’t Airbus have a 4 engine?A380 is 4 engine isn’t it?
The A380 is also 4 engines! 4 engine planes are not as economical as 2
No one will shed a tear when The last a380 lifts off…that I guarantee

Ah, there be some mighty bias here.
The A380 will never have the legacy that the Queen of the skies has, It may be the biggest but that's where it's fame ends.
