What I like most about these two people.... they always leave more then they take...... need more people like this. They work their butts off and expect nothing extra. Luv it.
Hi Matt and Amy sailing Florence I watch a lot of sailing RUclips solo sailors etcetera but of all the sailors I rate your channel the most favorable because you guys spend more time showing us people stuck at home and in our day today boring lives sometimes you show and broadcast actual sailing on Bluewater and Island Adventures credit to you making it so adventurous and interesting I also own a 37 foot sailing boat Wynnum Manly Brisbane is my base most of all stay safe and cannot wait to watch another episode thank you so much
Wait! What? You won a national championship?!?! Come on! You are circumnavigating, and you bagged a national championship along the way?!?! Outstanding! You are my heroes ! Love you guys! Fair winds and following seas to you both!
Barry (Adventures of an old sea dog) made the same point about the camera not giving a true reflection of the sea state. In his latest video he had installed his camera on a gimbal. It really works. Made me feel queasy watching it! Well done by the way.
Your videos truly show us the art of sailing and the pure joy of doing it. I dreamt my whole life of doing what you are doing but, career and family changed my course. At 62 yrs old I now watch your channel avidly and dream of what could have been!!!!!
thank you so much for sharing your adventure.. you are an example in the sailing community.. your decency, your kindness and modesty are touching.. be proud of yourself.. take good care and fair winds always..
Hi Matt and Amy I wished I could have met you in the Seychelles because your adventure is my dream. You deserve a Gold medal. No words to describe your courage. God bless you and Good luck in what ever you want
You guy’s are amazing! You’re both so organized and in tune with each other and what needs to be done. And you do all this without a word to each other, you give others a “safe, stable” feeling because you’re both so rational and professional.
Always a pleasure to watch a genuine sailing adventure video of the travels of Florence & crew! You're so much better than the "Reality Show Sailing" type of videos on RUclips! All the best as you continue on your way!
It is always a joy to find another Sailing channel that is actually SAILING (rather than the day-to-day personal drama that is being vlogged)!!! THANK YOU FOR A GREAT TRIP OUT OF SEYCHELLES!
thanks guys for another great video... I am a big fan mainly for your "modest" and human presentation, unlike some of the others on youtube. I am also a great fan of Christian Williams. Working toward my dream in the next couple of months. Well done and keep it up...
Over 15 years ago I made this same passage. But I did the passage at the opposite time of year, eventually arriving in Richard's Bay in June. In the area where you were becalmed I went through the biggest lightening storm I have ever experienced, anywhere. It lasted for almost a whole day with lightening strikes hitting the ocean all around me. Scary stuff. After leaving Mayotte I went through an unsettling area of the ocean and experienced the biggest waves I have ever seen. They were about 7 meters high and mostly gentle swells. I am not sure what caused them but a brisk E~SE trade wind had the crests curling and breaking occasionally. May all your troubles melt like lemon drops.
You two are simply formidable! I'm sure even old salts sail into a squeeze like that with some trepidation. Your wonderful videography, not to speak of the commentary--hard to beat. Thanks for taking us along on such a challenging sail.
I just got back from my hols in Sicilia and could not wait to catch up with you guys. What an amazing experience, especially the sunsets and the calm winds, and, even more so, the phosphorescent water trail in the clear skies. It makes the naughty behaviour of the gendarmerie easy to forget. Brilliant and probably one of the best videos I have seen. Awesome!!!!!
Hi guys what another great adventure you guys rock the ocean like you was meant for that kinda life, your team work with each other is the best I've see out of alm the boaters out there at the moment, the way ya'll take each others safety into consideration is how is supposed to be ya'll make everything look so effortlessly , the love you both have for each other shows, I know all the viewers watching ya'll are loving it so enjoyable watching ya'll cross different ocean, figuring out the safest way keep having fun, continue staying safe in this crazy lockdown 💯🍻
Hi both I have been watching since you were stuck in Indonesia. I am a Seychellois residing in Wales and I m so proud that my people looked after you. May you continue to have fair winds and following seas. Happy Christmas
YES! I have spent weeks binging the Play List and now I've had to wait for the next upload and here it is! Fantastic to be keeping up with you two now in near enough real time! Brilliant!
Excellent episode - you guys really know how to put together a sailing vlog. You've come a long way since you crossed the ditch to France and began this epic saga. Nothing but admiration for you both.
I think you've found the solution to the camera flattening out the sea state. Your shots from the Port Hole Window really gave an idea of how much you rise and fall on the waves.
Wonderful Videos! Amy and Matt you are doing a great job of making videos that clearly have a lot of effort going into them without being too slick. Informative, engaging yet casual and personal. Keep it going. You're a pleasant counter point to some of these self promoting RUclips pro's. I'm a sailor of many years myself and gaining much insight from your regular reports.
My wife and I have been following you guys for some time. great stuff. you (and Delos) are part of the reason we have a yacht! moored in Knysna. We are hoping you will stop off in Knysna on your way? We will buy you a beer! don't be intimidated by the Heads! Alex and Rika wish you the very best.
Relief even for us watching that you escaped the worst of the Witches Cauldron! So enjoyable to watch you guys while I prepare my Dehler 37 for a round Ireland trip next summer. Inspiring. Loved that you were welcomed by the racing fraternity in the Seychelles,
I've been around many seas and oceans but on Royal a Navy Aircraft Carrier, Frigate, Destroyer and Cruiser in my time in the Royal Navy. Large enough on most occasions to ride the unpredictable waves. Been caught in some massive storms at sea but what you are doing is so brave. I wish you both safe sailing and am enjoying your travels. Well done on your filming, editing and commentary.
So glad the compression zone didn’t bite you. Looks as though you had some fantastic sailing weather. Fair winds and following seas guys. Second star to the right and straight on til morning
Somehow my brain keeps humming Britannia Rules The Waves! Your descriptions of the vagaries of wind are spot on. It is so often too much or too little. We are so used to controlling our environment with our computers, air conditioned autos, and homes. I always feel that sailing teaches me that Mother Nature is in control. You have deal with it, go with it. Those sublime days when the wind is blowing on a beam reach , the sea state is kind, the sun is shining and you are sailing are unforgettable experiences. Oh to be on an Oyster!!!!!!
Always get excited when one of your vids drop. It’s an absolute pleasure watching you both sail. Your channel is one of the only actual sailing channels out there.
By far the nicest and best sailing videos come from you two people! I love the way you’re doing optimal sailing in all conditions; you’re true sailors 👌 looking forward to your next videos ⛵️👍💪
I watch a lot of young people sailing the world, but by far I enjoy watching your travels. Your videos are open ,honest entertaining and show the good and not so good things with living and sailing the world on a sailboat. No drama,or staged events. Thankyou so much for just being so open and honest . Stay safe and may fair winds lead your way.
This has been a long time coming. You should be extremely proud of yourselves. I'm happy your weather window mostly worked out in your favor. The rollercoaster ride of emotions was only surpassed by the Ocean swell. Superb episode. 🏆
Right one cannot really imagine the waves unless one has been on a passage. But for those who have not been on passage they can tell how much the boat is tossed around by looking at horizon tilting.
Well done Matt and Amy! We are welcoming you to South Africa. Enjoy the beautiful country. Making landfall is always one with mixed emotions but sure SA will be one of your highlights!! Don’t worry about the Omicron, seema okay compared to prev waves. Dr Lourens
Thanks for another fabulous video . Seychelles was very hospitable and a beautiful place to see, glad you had such a positive experience there. Viewing this video brought new information to me, that there is an island called Mayotte in the Mozambique channel. I hope the officials there treated you well, but the teaser seems to indicate otherwise. After seeing you two overcome so many challenges in your 5 year journey, I'm certain you will overcome any adversity with you usual calm composure and good humor. Merry Christmas Matt and Amy, your channel is a wonderful gift!
Fantastic footage, I can imagine how anxious you feel, knowing the past history of sailing The Cape of Good Hope; however, today's technology is amazing, keeping my fingers crossed everything goes well!!
Tomorrow I am making a passage of 1400km by car through Europe. Hope it goes as smoothly as yours! Great, inspiring video, thanks! Best of luck to both of you!
It is great to see all your videos. If you come to South Africa, expect much crime here. There are many types of crime. You are safe inside the shopingmalls. Good luck to you!
Excellent video as always. If i ever had to pick 2 people to sail across an ocean with i would want it to be you guys. Im always impressed by not only your skill but your knowledge of weather and sea states. Love you guys, be safe.
You guys make me watch lot of boat video 😊 I like camping and travel around Indonesia. after watch your video, I'm feel like I want to try a sailboat to.
Doesn't north of Madagascar have a lot of shoals and wind against current? So happy you had a great passage. Picking a weather system that'll get you to Cape Town will be interesting.
Lovely video and some great sailing! Well done on your win Matt, that's really impressive, hope they didn't mind too much! Looks like you pulled off some excellent passage planning too and all that work on Florence was well worth it with those seas! Sorry to hear that you got in trouble with the authorities on Mayote! Florence always seems to handle the rougher weather so well, your channel must be one of the best testimonies to Oysters longevity and suitability for proper blue water cruising out there :-)!
Wow, OMG, what a great show, content, beautiful video, great commentary and the music!!! if this is an example of your production - I am in. I am going to go and watch it again. First rate and nothing but quality people, good on ya mates! Thanks
Hello Matt and Amy. I was watching a video of requalifying batteries on RUclips. Not sure it can help you but I thought of you! The channel is sweet project cars. Thanks for sharing your video’s
Preparing our boat for the beginning of our life at sea in Hamburg your videos are pushing us to make it happen asap. Besides making fantastic videos I think of your attitude to sailing being a benchmark example of good seamanship. Glad I catched your channel in the youtube ocean. Cheers to both of you
I remember when Delos went through that area. And this boat is a Amel Super Maramu, and 53 feet in length. Delos normally sales like a hot knife through butter so beautiful to watch, but boy was that boat battered around by the Witches' Cauldron. One thing about Florence I have noticed, she sails very much like Delos. I've seen so many of these sailing channels and many of the boats seem to wobble their way through the water, especially when the seas start to get a bit high with the bow darting in all directions, but then there are those that slice through the water beautifully and although it can be rough, it seems the boats do it with a lot less stress and a lot more finesse. It is indeed, so nice to watch Florence slice through these waters. You must be really thankful you have such a capable boat that you can rely on.
I recommend you take a look at Sailing Uma. They have a similar old boat which they have fixed up in very ingenious ways, and have also been cruising for five or six years. These two couples produce the nicest sailing videos, in my opinion.
@@awuma Too late, I've been watching SV Uma for years also. They are actually doing close to the best videos on youtube for sailing at the moment. Their latest videos are unmatched so far due to their location and high quality production.
Matt and Amy, great to see you are on your way to South Africa, by now you might have left SA already. I really trust you will have a good experience visiting SA. Would have loved to be able to meet you but we are way off on the Botswana border. Have fun and thanks for a awesome video
What I like most about these two people.... they always leave more then they take...... need more people like this. They work their butts off and expect nothing extra. Luv it.

Congrats on first place Matt!
Excellent. Wonderful sailors and intelligent people.
Some of these classics are better the second time watching them. Hard core sailing is so awesome to watch!
Wait!
I've just come from there.
Your videos truly show us the art of sailing and the pure joy of doing it. I dreamt my whole life of doing what you are doing but, career and family changed my course. At 62 yrs old I now watch your channel avidly and dream of what could have been!!!!!
Great camera shots of your beautiful boat plowing through the seas !!

I love watching you two work together to keep Florence on course.
I just reacted to your nickname 😂😂😂
Well done. Such a thoughtful and modest commentary. Florence looks very well found. Greatly enjoyed. Wish you well for the rest of your voyage. John

NIce Indian Ocean sites, including Mozambique coast line I had enjoyed a lot in the past, Kirimbas, Bazaruto and Inhaca.
Another lovely video. I like how you carefully plan the weather window and are both very knowledgeable.
Another fantastic episode with my favorite sailors. Terrific!
Well done Matt and Amy! We are welcoming you to South Africa. Enjoy the beautiful country. Making landfall is always one with mixed emotions but sure SA will be one of your highlights!! Don’t worry about the Omicron, seema okay compared to prev waves. Dr Lourens
A great "sailing story", with a beginning, a middle and an end (which isn't the leg end). You two a very good in both respects

Insane video you did on your trip from the Seychelles to Mayotte, I really enjoyed it, thanks again. You guys are superb sailors, congrats!, Rgs
The video was vivid with striking colour. Loved the dingy races, you have not lost your touch for those tender Lasers!
Thank you again for another great video!
Another great video. An interesting part of the world.
Terrific, once again. Thanks.
Haha, I had no wind in the feared compression zone too, keep missing you guys, in Cape Town now.
Thank you for another fantastic video !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
