Drill music as we all know originated from Chicago and it was called drill music because the rappers were talking about “drilling” and dissing their opponents/opposition. What happened was the actual music or beats that the Chicago producers were creating to go along with the rapper’s drill lyrics was so unique and distinct that it became an actual sub genre of Rap MUSIC. Pretty much every genre is about the actual music, not the lyrics. Hip Hop/Rap, Drum and Bass, House, Dub Step, RnB, Jazz, Blues, Rock, etc. Then those genres have sub genre’s (way too many to name). Drill is a sub genre of Hip Hop/Rap. It’s about the music and the instrumentation. Now there are different types of Drill. There is “Drill/Chicago Drill”, “Sample Drill”, “UK Drill”, “(Jersey)Club Drill” etc. Guys like Fivio Foreign, Pop Smoke, Central Cee or Russ Millions, or now even Drake, all have music that’s on what you would call a drill beat, but they aren’t talking about drilling at all. So my point is that you can actually make it far off drill. There is a WORLD WIDE market for drill music but you are only going to make it but so far just talking about drilling, sliding, dissin the dead, etc. Women, Kids, Older people or regular every day people aren’t going to listen to that type of music. Your whole crowd at your shows will be a bunch of male criminals. You can use the same beats just switch the words up. People like Pop smoke, Lil Tjay, and Fivio gave nggas the blueprint.
