My absolute favorite one is “The Three Nuts for Cinderella”. It was made in Czechoslovakia and East Germany in 1973 and OH MY IT’S EVERYTHING. Cinderella is an awesome badass who saves the servants from her stepmother’s wrath and than all but showers her stepmother and stepsister with ash when they’re being bitches to her. And she meets the Prince long before the ball and she kicks his ass SO MANY TIMES!!! If you’re able to find it go watch it! It’s a traditional Christmas TV-fairytale in some European countries as I know and I ALWAYS re-watch it around New Years bcs MOOD
The 1997 version, while prettier, is NOT the best version. The absolute best, which didn't even make HM (crime!), is the 1965 live-TV version, starring Leslie Ann Warren as an almost swan-like Cindi, Stuart Damon as the prince, and Celeste Holm as the Fairy Godmother. It is, was, and probably ever will be, my favorite version. It should have replaced any of the "A Cinderella Story" entries, at least.

Ever After is my all time fave version. Historical with a splash of fantasy, the girl isn't actually named Cinderella but has a real name, she rescues herself in the end before the prince even shows, and I just love how grimey and realistic everything looks. I could go on about the costume design as well but this post would extend by paragraphs.
Her rescuing herself kinda ruins the point of the prince, tbh. But the movie thankfully has him on his way to save her and just happens to lose the race, so he is still the sort of man who would save her. I would have preferred her to escape 90% of the way but encounter a smart henchman (smart villain underlings are always a refreshing sight) and need the prince to cross the final obstacle.
@@michaelmccabe3079 no it doesn't. Having a friend and love interest isn't only for the sake of being rescued. She is strong without him but she loves him. Codependency is not romantic.
@@BoxOKittens Perhaps in another story, but in the Cinderella story she needs the prince to save her. The Cinderella story is not about a woman freeing herself, it is about someone who can't escape being saved for no other reason than love. In many ways, it's a reflection of the story of Christ- humanity can't save itself, but Christ came down from heaven to save us. It would be equally as problematic if the Prince had to save her for any other reason besides love (say, money or political advantage). There were plenty of other old stories (particularly among the Irish) of women who were more assertive and could pull themselves out of trouble, but Cinderella's story is not one of them.
@@michaelmccabe3079 If you think that Cinderella's story MUST include her being saved by a prince, then you must not enjoy many of the different versions of the story where that doesn't happen. Saying something like "Cinderella has to be about a prince saving her" is kind of restrictive, because there have been many different version throughout decades. But I digress, we'll have to agree to disagree on this one, it seems.
@@BoxOKittens Most versions involve her being saved, and the clever ones come up with creative ways to do so. Otherwise, the character could have simply left and walked up to the palace/prince by herself and he wouldn't have needed to seek her out.
The ones you've only placed at 7, 8, 9 and 10 should have been the top. i love those films. i do love the original and the fecent remake though so i agree they should be high on the list. Also Ella Enchanted is the best filmever.
This list is INVALID for having Brandy’s Cinderella as #10! You have Whitney Houston, Bernadette Peters, Whoopi Goldberg, Victor Garber, Jason Alexander, and a damn beautiful Filipino prince Paolo Montalban.
The live action Cinderella rocks! It's so underappreciated. I literally get my lifes motto from it "Have courage and be kind" I'll say it, I love it more than the original.
I can't believe the Brandy version was #10! I wasn't crazy about "Into the Woods." There were several on the list that I haven't seen cuz they're older, so I can't judge them, but some of the versions that just made the Honorable Mention list got totally jipped in my opinion.
I loved 'Cinderfella' as a child but Ever After is my eternal favourite version 😊 I think I've seen nearly all the versions, including obscure TV versions and foreign/European versions.
My top 3: 1) Three Wishes for Cinderella (1973) This Czech fairy tale is the greatest adaptation of the story ever. And by far. The beautiful setting, music, costumes, witty dialogues and charming playfulness of Cinderella and her prince only add to the fairy tale magic. 2) Ever After The costumes and setting are breathtakingly beautiful. The story is amazingly well written and works wonders with the historical references. 3) Cinderella (2015) This Disney live adaptation elevated the popular Disney animated version significantly by evolving the story and giving the characters actual personalities.
"Roger's and Hammerstein's Cinderella 1997" and "Ever After" are number 2 and 1 in my book! Fabulous costumes and casts alike and the "ever after" story are superb! Also Bernadette Peters and Angelica Houston as the respective stepmothers are extremely tough acts to follow!
@@nerdyblackkid9878 my point exacrly. The trash music in the Cinderella stories and the trash acting. I'm so confused. Brandy's Cinderella deserves betrer than this!!!!
"The Prince and Me" and "Rags" are 2 movies I can watch over and over without getting tired of. I also love all 3 of the "Another Cinderella Story" movies.
@@carlottarobbins7005 it sucks compared to there other musicals. I know the wrote for younger audiences but I grew up watching Oklahoma l. South Pacific, and Courasel. I do believe Brandy did a better job then the OG. Brandy was the only good on in the movie. Sorry Disney Cinderella 1950. Basically saved the company. The animation was incredible. I love the live action.
That might be the sentimental part of me, but I shall forever honour "Drei Nüsse für Aschenbrödel". It has a lot of snow, ridicoulus outfits, amazing animal friends, and just about every christmas of my life that I can remember going for it.
While you can’t compete with both the OG and live action Disney adaptations, I love Ever After and The Slipper and the Rose. If they decide to remake R&H’s Cinderella with the recent Broadway tweaks, it would work too.
My Top 5: 1. Disney's Animated Cinderella (It has a weaker script than Ever After, and weaker characters, but it is inarguably ICONIC, beautifully animated, Academy-recognized, and has withstood the test of time better than any of the other adaptations.) 2. Ever After (Hands-down the best adaptation in terms of story, characters, themes, and romance. If it had garnered the same critical acclaim as the original Disney version, I'd put it as #1. As it is though, it's my favorite, but I can't say it's objectively the "greatest.") 3. R & H's Julie Andrews version (It's aged surprisingly well, and some of the silliness of the Brandy version is toned down to make the shift from comedy to romance less jarring. It's very heartfelt and Andrews makes for a very charming Cinderella ♥) 4. R & H's Brandy version (It's VERY silly, but the aesthetic, music, and cast help make up for it. The two leads have chemistry, but you can tell the script is difficult for them to play straight without sounding cringey. It does some things fantastically well, but I feel like the original came together as a story more seamlessly.) 5. Cinderella 2015 (It *looks* beautiful, but comes across as... sorta meh? The characters are okay, but other versions do them better; the script is okay, but the story has been told better. I can't help but feel it's a weaker Ever After, with less charm than the R & H's movies.) I was gonna do the whole list, but honestly, are the others even worth comparing to these? The Slipper and the Rose might be an exception, but I've never seen it so I don't feel qualified to rank it...
I AM SO HAPPY. All of my favourite Cinderella films made it onto the list. 1. Another Cinderella Story 2. A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song 3. A Cinderella Story 4. Rags 5. Disney’s Cinderella 6. Cinderella (2015) 7. Cinderella (1997)
Ever After is my all time favorite version of Cinderella. Its the most realistic and doesn't have Cinderella as a singing goddess damsel in distress. Although unusual for the time, Danielle has a spirit that I have other Cinderella adaptions fail to capture.
And all you people don't know the treasure that is ''3 Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel'' (3 hazelnuts for Cinderella), a german/czech production from 1973. It is one of the best Cinderella-Films and in Germany we watch it every year around christmas.
I came here for this :'D The best cinderella-version hands down, beautiful cinematography, wonderful music and great acting! Also one of the rare versions where both cinderella and the prince seem like actual people with distinct personalities
The 1965 'Rogers & Hammerstein's Cinderella' starring Lesley Ann Warren deserved to be in the top 10 much more than the original 'A Cinderella Story'. It didn't even get mentioned.

Elizabeth Gonzalez 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Just tells what they know! #10...pssshh! 😒
Preach sis ! 👏🏽
Damn right! And putting that insipid animated thing in first? Bleh!
1. CINDERELLA 1950
2. HILLARY DUFF CINDERELLA
3. BRANDY CINDERELLA
PERIIIIIIODT!
Watch Slipper and the Rose, you might be surprised.
The live action Cinderella rocks! It's so underappreciated. I literally get my lifes motto from it "Have courage and be kind"
I'll say it, I love it more than the original.
Same I preferred it over the original too
"My favourite moto too".
I also prefer the Live Action Cinderella to the Animation.
Same it's also my motto!!
Whitney Houston
Rip🙏💔
I can't believe the Brandy version was #10! I wasn't crazy about "Into the Woods." There were several on the list that I haven't seen cuz they're older, so I can't judge them, but some of the versions that just made the Honorable Mention list got totally jipped in my opinion.
I loved 'Cinderfella' as a child but Ever After is my eternal favourite version 😊 I think I've seen nearly all the versions, including obscure TV versions and foreign/European versions.
My top 3:
1) Three Wishes for Cinderella (1973)
This Czech fairy tale is the greatest adaptation of the story ever. And by far. The beautiful setting, music, costumes, witty dialogues and charming playfulness of Cinderella and her prince only add to the fairy tale magic.
2) Ever After
The costumes and setting are breathtakingly beautiful. The story is amazingly well written and works wonders with the historical references.
3) Cinderella (2015)
This Disney live adaptation elevated the popular Disney animated version significantly by evolving the story and giving the characters actual personalities.
Tree nuts for Cinderella! 🇨🇿🇩🇪
Bro how the hell did those abc family remakes get ahead of brandys cinderella story
Right?! Literally everything ranked higher, which is practically a crime. 😕
I think Ever After should've switched rolls with Cinderella (2015)
I think my mom would agree with you - she likes "Ever After"
Agreed!
Thank you! Why does that stupid remake get so much praise?
Lol no.
Brandi’s Cinderella should have been higher!
WAY HIGHER!! Top 3 at least!!
Ever After is everything ❤️
YES Slipper and the Rose!
A surprisingly-developed plot, stunning sets and costumes, and Sherman Brothers music!
what a cute list i love all of them. but Brandy's Cinderella at #10??? the CAUCASITY!!!
Right? How are the Cinderella story sequels better than that?
@@nerdyblackkid9878 my point exacrly. The trash music in the Cinderella stories and the trash acting. I'm so confused. Brandy's Cinderella deserves betrer than this!!!!
the cinderella stories are so shitty. Brandy's lightyears better.
caucasity lmaoo
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
My Favorite
1. Another Cinderella Story
2. A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song
3. Rags
4. A Cinderella Story: If a Shoe Fits
5. Cinderella (2015)
Loved Ever After and Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella.
I have never heard of The Slipper and the Rose...But this is something I want I to watch! Ever After is my fav!
Love for robb Stark😍. And his lovely eyes.
Imagine the rains of castamere playing during the ball...
"The Prince and Me" and "Rags" are 2 movies I can watch over and over without getting tired of. I also love all 3 of the "Another Cinderella Story" movies.
The fact that the Rodgers and Hammerstein version is not number one makes this list completely invalid 😒
I'd never heard of it before this video - but now I'd really like to see it!
Ridiculous, the original Disney and ever after at least are 1000 times better
That might be the sentimental part of me, but I shall forever honour "Drei Nüsse für Aschenbrödel". It has a lot of snow, ridicoulus outfits, amazing animal friends, and just about every christmas of my life that I can remember going for it.
🇨🇿🇩🇪
While you can’t compete with both the OG and live action Disney adaptations, I love Ever After and The Slipper and the Rose.
If they decide to remake R&H’s Cinderella with the recent Broadway tweaks, it would work too.
Rogers and Hammerstein 1965 tv version with Leslie Ann Warren was wonderful and I always enjoyed it when it was on tv when I was little
My favourite Cinderella movies are
Cinderella (2015)
Rodger and Hamerstein's Cinderella (1997)
Ever After (1998).
I put both Disney ciderellas in the same catagory. I'll add Ella enchanted as 4.
There is also Czech version on Cinderella, 1974. It should be on the list because it's amazing
The most beautiful was Cinderella 2015😘😘
My Top 5:
1. Disney's Animated Cinderella (It has a weaker script than Ever After, and weaker characters, but it is inarguably ICONIC, beautifully animated, Academy-recognized, and has withstood the test of time better than any of the other adaptations.)
2. Ever After (Hands-down the best adaptation in terms of story, characters, themes, and romance. If it had garnered the same critical acclaim as the original Disney version, I'd put it as #1. As it is though, it's my favorite, but I can't say it's objectively the "greatest.")
3. R & H's Julie Andrews version (It's aged surprisingly well, and some of the silliness of the Brandy version is toned down to make the shift from comedy to romance less jarring. It's very heartfelt and Andrews makes for a very charming Cinderella ♥)
4. R & H's Brandy version (It's VERY silly, but the aesthetic, music, and cast help make up for it. The two leads have chemistry, but you can tell the script is difficult for them to play straight without sounding cringey. It does some things fantastically well, but I feel like the original came together as a story more seamlessly.)
5. Cinderella 2015 (It *looks* beautiful, but comes across as... sorta meh? The characters are okay, but other versions do them better; the script is okay, but the story has been told better. I can't help but feel it's a weaker Ever After, with less charm than the R & H's movies.)
I was gonna do the whole list, but honestly, are the others even worth comparing to these? The Slipper and the Rose might be an exception, but I've never seen it so I don't feel qualified to rank it...
Rags and Elle Enchanted are my favorites cant believe they didnt make on the list.
Same
I AM SO HAPPY. All of my favourite Cinderella films made it onto the list.
1. Another Cinderella Story
2. A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song
3. A Cinderella Story
4. Rags
5. Disney’s Cinderella
6. Cinderella (2015)
7. Cinderella (1997)
I like a Cinderella story if the shoes fit
Me too it’s the best one yet Sofia Carson is queen
There is a 1990 film called if the shoe fits with Jennifer Grey
The Slipper and the Rose is amazing!!!💕
Ever After is still my favorite but The Slipper and the Rose is a close second.
Ever After is the best, hands down.
I'm so glad you put Slipper and the Rose on there and so high up. It's one of the best and most underrated remakes.
I don’t agree with into the woods is higher than the ones that was low it was boring
Yeah I felt it was very lackluster. I have heard though that people who loved the play it was based on were very disappointed too.
I don't either. For the same reason.
Oh, it was quite atrocious. To see that outdo Ella the Enchanted was a joke.
I totally agree 😂
Thank you! Somebody said it!
1.Cinderella (1950)
2.Ever After
3.The Prince and Me
Seriously Brandy deserves a higher role, and ever after is number 2.
Ever After is my all time favorite version of Cinderella. Its the most realistic and doesn't have Cinderella as a singing goddess damsel in distress. Although unusual for the time, Danielle has a spirit that I have other Cinderella adaptions fail to capture.
Ever After for sure...but I'm missing the Leslie Ann Warren version on this list.
Rodgers and Hammerstein's is my personal favorite! Followed by the 2015 version. The cinematography is just so beautiful!
a cinderella story with chad and hilary is my fav🙌🏼
And all you people don't know the treasure that is ''3 Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel'' (3 hazelnuts for Cinderella), a german/czech production from 1973. It is one of the best Cinderella-Films and in Germany we watch it every year around christmas.
I watch this version with my mother almost every year! We're from Ukraine, by the way
This movie deserves much more attention and popularity
@@celestinedelafere4269 You are so right. I love it so much more than any of these hollywood productions :)
It didn't even get mentioned.
you are absolutely right, I was trying to look it up (couldn't remember the actresses' name) and it doesn't even come up in the search engines. Thanks for mentioning it because I was sharing my experience of watching this with my grandchild
You completely overlooked the best ‚Cinderella‘ adaptation of all times - if not the best fairytail movie ever made as far as original „non-Hollywood-style“ is concerned- 1972 czech film „Three nuts for Cinderella“❤️
#10 Brandy/Whitney Houston 😳😳😳😳
Jarold Nash okay 🙄
My top 4:
1. Ever After
2. Roger and Hammerstein’s Cinderella (1997)
3. Cinderella 2015
4. A Cinderella Story with Hilary Duff
I’m so glad they included Rags and Ella Enchanted 😁😁
Three Wishes for Cinderella is the best one in my opinion. A Christmas classic.
Welcome from the Czech republic. We are very happy to hear that you also love our country's most favourite fairytale.
@@yinloveyang I'm from Switzerland and here it's a very popular Christmas film. It's shown on tv every year. And I watch it every year. It's such a beautiful film. :)
For me, the best Cinderella story is Lily James' film. I think she gives the character a new light and a lot of wonderfull things. Lily James is just the best of all. And for me the second one is a film that isn't on the list. Is an italian version made on 2011 based on the 50'. A very beautiful history that for me is just behind Cinderella (2015), thanks to Lily James.
1. Original Disney
2. A Cinderella Story
3. Ella Enchanted
4. Ever After
5. Cinderella (2015)
5. Another Cinderella Story
6. Julie Andrews
7. Brandy's
I’m glad to see you included the Slipper and The Rose, and Ever After has good placement, but why on earth is the Rogers and Hammerstein version at #10? It should be #2 or #1. Come on!
My Favorite Cinderella Movies;
Cinderella (1950)
Ever After: A Cinderella Story
Ella Enchanted
Cinderella (2015)
A Cinderella Story
Rodger & Hammerstein’s Cinderella(1997)
