Goosebumps. I’m a Jeep guy. Always have been. Since enlisting in the military a couple decades ago I’ve always had a Jeep with 33’s then 35’s then 38’s and now I have 40’s and a turbo in the one I have now. No real goosebumps though. I’ve had Harleys and Ducatis. No real goosebumps. I came the Auto Show in New York and put my 1,000 down for a truck and you guys have been nothing but transparent. You told me end of 2020 or 2021 would be a safe bet for when the truck would be delivered and it’s written everywhere. So, I’m a little confused what people are looking for from you all. This is your first vehicle. You all have Amazon as an investor haha. Jesus, cut these guys some slack. I get goosebumps when I’m at a game standing and singing the National Anthem. I got goosebumps when my daughter Ella was born. I got goosebumps when I got married. I get goosebumps when I see these videos. I appreciate them and you all are doing a great job. I know there’s a lot of pressure especially with COVID setting you all back. I’m part of the 99.9% that have faith in you all and believe in everyone at Rivian from the Janitor all the way up to RJ. Dammmmm... Smart Batteries... You guys are killing me over here.

@@skylerwilliams I hear you. I had the CJ's and The Wranglers over half my life. Love them all. But, man. I cant wait to get my hands on this rivian RT so I can do some mods. I need RJ to modify one and take it to a Jeep Rally. haha. Maybe do a Satin Black version with some 33's or squeeze some 35's on. Some LED lights a few places. haha.
This is why I'm going with a Rivian. The truck is amazing, the mission is solid. I can't wait to be driving this truck through the mountains of Colorado with our horses in tow!

I agree. Its different strokes for different folks. I think its an entirely different type of company. Its not Tesla and Tesla is not Rivian. Rivian is just a solid option for people like you and me and most of the people posting. I cant remember the last time I had an actual car. Always had a Jeep or a Truck or SUV. This is right up my alley. I am sure if I wanted an electric car or sedan I would look across the aisle at Tesla. Buttttt, if Rivian came out with a car or a motorcycle. If it was the right fit. But "I can only have one" - Wife
This is a great truck and the Cybertruck is so incredibly badass. I’m glad we’re going to get both!!
For the people saying: "Stop with the videos, I need to see cars going out of the factory!” They were preparing everything and then Covid hit and they had to stop working, but they are back, give them time, Its a new company, not someone who has been around making cars for decades.
I honestly don't believe they are "that" setback from production/release. He has enough capital to build more facilities as needed. I bet a surprise release announcement is coming.
Lol, I understand. But Tesla was founded in 2003, the 1st roadster in 2008, that's 5ys, the 1st mass produced Model S was made in 2012, 4yrs later after the 1st gen roadster & 9yrs from the company founded.
In less then a decade Tesla had a mass production car. Yes it was pre Covid-19, but even then the only thing that delayed Tesla was the sale of the Model Y.
Glad their in the game tho, look forward to when they hit market & advertise to a larger segment. Hope they can deal with the competition from Ford (F-150 electric), Nikola Badger, Atlis, Bollinger & Lordstown Motors is right on the heels.
I wish nothing but success to all EV makers but to ask "SHOW ME THE (MONEY) PRODUCTION!" 😂 means the demand is their & the public wants it bad.
I know my wife & I want the R1S & we just reserved the Cybertruck because of the fee & towing. It's also the only tangible EV truck from a proven EV automaker 🤷🏾♂️
Rivian adventure network is a good lead, learning from Tesla 👏🏾👏🏾✌🏾✌🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Meh, they can crank out as many vids as they want. They're highly inspiring and are high production value.
Successful companies Have business continuity plans. Rivian should also have one and think (hard) outside the box as an innovative company like it should. Enough w/ the teasers (we have Netflix, Hulu, etc. for that). Just focus on production; we want to get our hands on the real thing.

My wife put down a deposit for an R1T after the Fully Charged Live event in Texas. We are incredibly excited together, and I just as excited for this truck as I am for my 1969 project car to be done that I am building! Keep it up!

I've been EV since 2014, will never buy another fossil fuel clunk. LOVE this truck. Looks future but not a Tesla Tank. I will buy one. Chill bump moments "building cars that can drive on electricity is really a stepping stone" & moving the batteries to their second life from a car to the grid! EXCITING!!!

Oh no, ANOTHER superb video from Rivian, not just with the normal EV spiel from other OEMs, but drilling down on the fundamental issues that other OEMs are not addressing,...... that is ensuring the highest prove-out of rugged usability, reliability & sustainability.
The idea of recycling worn Rivian vehicle batteries into renewable power banks for homes is genius, and a quick argument-ending retort to anyone suggesting that EVs will increase landfill etc when batteries deteriorate.
As a current automotive engineer for a luxury car OEM in the UK, I absolutely love Rivian, I love what their doing, and wish I could land a role at Rivian one day.
Until then I look forward to seeing more excellent content! Keep up the great work guys, don't rush it!

This sounds amazing. Love how they already have a plan for the end life (3:07 part of the grid) of the battery before a single truck is sold. Wishing the entire team nothing but sucess. I am looking forward to being a future owner.

rivian is so cool and if anyway they participate in baja or do a run they are gonna blow the competition away
I plan to take mine on a “Baja run”...off season of course and at a fraction of the speed they do. I did that trip with my Dad in a Toyota Land-cruiser as a little kid and I think my kids would enjoy doing that trip with me. You only hit parts of the trail and then do the paved tourist routes for most of it 😉

I'm pretty sure this truck will be worth the wait, everyone knows that the US is going through a LOT of stuff right now, so I'm sure that it has ruined plans over at Rivian. Hoping to see some real footage by the end of summer, oh hell, maybe get a few trucks in the hands of some RUclipsrs. Either way, looking forward to seeing what y'all have to offer!
They were doing first deliveries in December. They're now saying early 2021. That's soon enough for me.

Actually, oil & gas used at centralized and burned by huge utilities is very efficient compared to burned by individual small power plants (car engines). So, yeah👍

Can't wait to see the R1T in production. My only wish is for them to rework the front end because the lighting looks kind of silly, but overall I love this thing. Definitely plan in buying one eventually.

Solid state batteries are not mature enough to be in electric vehicles

Great car. I really hope they bring out a solid product when it rolls out. I just wonder how the battery will hold up taking it to different terrains like that. We’ll really only find out when we test it ourselves in the real world. Good luck though.

Who is supplying your cells? Do you have any official specs yet on your particular 18650s?
Those are clearly not 18650s. Somewhere around 26500 or 20700.

Unlike others who try to takeon tesla, These guys are on their own route they do not make an electric car to challenge tesla but just a good car for us, they have all the right buttons for success
Would appreciate if you consider PV cells on the roof, so the car can charge from the sun. Imagine the client is going out into the outback for hiking. As long as the person(s) are on the hiking trip, the car is charging. BR from Germany!
Enough people have done the math on this already, but it comes down to:
Even when you take the maximum area the car can offer (trunk/bed, roof, hood) the power gained from solar charging would be almost negligable on a perfect day, so its not worth the extra cost that would bring

Thanks for sharing this. Very cool to see what happens in detail as this technology is developing into something for production. Can’t wait to have one in my driveway! Curious if battery upgrades will be possible. Eg. When solid state batteries are ready, will their be upgrades to the battery management system to allow for a swap? Given the durability of the all electric components, I’m expecting to own this vehicle for 15-20 years (barring accidents). Or, will you release the source code and schematics at some point so that hobbyists could make those updates for the world?
People are commenting over how Rivian has such great ideas and good plans for the afterlife of the batteries but has everyone forget Tesla had these ideas way before Rivian and tesla is much closer to making all their plans into reality yes I agree Rivian's truck looks way better then the Cybertruck but Rivian isnt the only one pushing forward a lot of this is already being done by Tesla such as the heavy battery testing in all kind of weather but all in all I hope Rivian becomes a true Tesla rival because competition is great for the consumer and pushes innovation forward. Just remember Rivian isn't the first ones with these plans for the future. The Electric future we are waiting upon to get closer and closer.
