    This format is actually better than the live Q&A. It's easier to follow when not distracted by the chat. (Especially those that ask the same question 7 times because you haven't answered them ... yet).

    A backup spin is unnecessary after a good line hit or bonus on an Ainsworth progressive b/c after a few minutes have past, the screen always resets to its default. So, I choose to take my winnings and run!... HAHA

    In Australia the games with bags or fire crackers etc do have it written in bold writing across the front of the machine that the size is not indicative of a bonus.

    Am so blessed was able to become a successful gambler all these years (58) by myself. Basically Im a sore looser and I like money. So while I like the challenge and enjoy the fun of playing, I'm not giving a machine all my money. So appreciate all the info your channel gives us. It reinforces what I have managed to learn by myself, as there were not channels like yours to help us. I watch each one and when you say something that aligns with what I've learned it validates me. Thanks again. I played the firecracker game 1 time. Mine didnt go off with only 1 left, but when the man left next machine after a bonus, a person sat down, minimum bet all three fire cracker bunches ran all the way up to the top and a bonus. Once that happened I decided not for me. And back to the "Classics", as long as they are available.

    My friend and I once heard a middle-aged guy angrily mutter to himself; "None of these machines f@#&ing work"... my friend turned to me and said "You know what you call that? A man who's losing his money". He was so right. It really can be _very disturbing_ how much pokies - as they're called in Australia - impacts and changes a person's behaviour and demeanour. So for that reason alone, I *absolutely* prefer to keep my mouth shut and let them seethe. Anyone who behaves this way (degenerates, complainers, button slappers, screen bashers) *DOES NOT* deserve my 2 cents - not _literally_ 2 cents, of course... let alone 1 lol. It's up to THEM to change their ways.

    Thank you for highlighting my comment. I was surprised at your answer on the back up spin. I have been going to Vegas since the 80s and did not know that. I have seen several videos on etiquette at slots that never mentioned it. I never want to be ‘that’ person. I know all the table game ones. Another question, please. I have seen several Vlogers talk about having a better chance hitting a good line hit or bonus playing max on 1 cent vs minimum on a higher denomination. That makes no sense. Dimes have a slight better chance than pennies, although not significantly to make a huge difference, but if they play $5 on pennies and get a mini it’s $10. The same $5 mini can be $50 on dimes. I am normally a $1.5-$5 per spin player. If I can play nickels at $1.25 or $2.5 on dimes I prefer that over pennies. Am I wrong? I am used to being wrong.

    Hey Marc, would you please address this question for next week’s Q&A?
    Why is it that so many people hate on MGM? Why do locals not like MGM? Why do many people say MGM ruins properties or sucks and their comps are bad?
    (PS we will be LV locals very soon, so please answer considering we are not local now, but will be before the end of the year.)
    Annie and I only began playing about a year and a half ago. We pretty much only played at MGM and we get amazing comps there (Skylofts and about 2K in FP).
    Would we be better off playing elsewhere?

    • @GambleSmart
      @GambleSmart  2 месяца назад +1

      People hate on everything that had a bag experience with. I don't think the MGM hate is as bad as it seems. As a whole, all properties are slowly reducing comps. It's a good topic for sure, I'll put it on deck for next weekend or maybe even the live stream this week.

    Perceived progression is such a genius slot design. Even if you know it doesn’t affect your chance at a bonus, it does tell you that it has been a little while since a bonus has been hit, which plays right into the false “due theory” that players walk around with.

  • @nickzoccoli3829

    Not sure if you guys have covered this before but I just got back from Vegas, and at every Caesars property some of the progressive slots were locked on the reset amount for major/grand jackpots. For example some of the newer style games like huff n puff, were locked at $1,000 for major and $12,500 for the grand and they wouldn't increase. Some older games like dragon link still were normal (progressing with every bet). I know the odds to hit them are very low but it's what makes these games fun to play when they are high. Do these casinos keep the extra money that would normally go back to players? Also how if at all does this affect the payback percentage? Found it very off-putting and will play elsewhere on my next trip. Any insight would be appreciated. Love the channel!

    • @GambleSmart
      @GambleSmart  2 месяца назад +1

      Casinos can set progressives to not climb. It doesn’t alter the payback % at all because the base amount is what is figured into it. Everything that goes above the base amount is paid back to the players. By law, they can not reset a progressive after it has started to climb from the base. There are a few options available to casinos for this. 1) The can set the machine to disable the growing progressive AFTER it has been hit. 2) They can take the overage from the base and combine it with another progressive from another similar machine. 3) If all else fails, they can give it back to players in the form of a giveaway (which is what happened with Mirage recently).

    One time at the casino, a man was playing a quarter slot machine. He was playing before I sat down to play a Quick Hit on another bank. He was very upset with the machine. He started cussing ,yelling,and hitting the buttons and did this for at least 30 minutes, maybe longer. I cashed out and went and sat next to him and started playing and talking to him. The thought was to "Help". I thought the machine I was playing would trigger his machine and then he would win and leave.(VGT).I know that does not help now.Well, He finally hit on the machine and got his money back. I said "Well, you won your money back are you going to stop?"I was surprised that he would stop, but he did. I don't do that anymore. He needed the "Gamble Box"

    Hi Marc, hope you are having a fun summer. My question is this: I have $400 in free play. Sitting at the machine, I downloaded $200 in “my bank”. If I play $100 of that bank, do I have to stay at that same machine to play the other $100? And will the other $200 remain as free play in another machine? Also, when can I tell if my free play has turned into “ real cash”, that I can hit the “collect” button. Please explain how free play works,, if you have a decent amount. Thanks

    • @SuperMKgirl
      @SuperMKgirl 2 месяца назад

      What we do when playing free play is cash out whenever we win more than $1.00. The free play that we've loaded stays in the machine, but the cash won will print a ticket. That way we don't keep playing our winnings.
      We also only load a little free play at a time. At our casino, whatever free play you load must be played at the machine you load it into.

    Hi this is one question I always wanted to ask if I started with $100 at $5 a pull on 5 lines game and at the end I am left with just $3 credits left so I play 3 lines and guess what either the 4 line or more so the 5 th line has jackpot symbol either on line 4 or 5. Is that done on purpose to tease in to always paying 5 credits this occurred me several times when I don’t have enough credits to play 5 ines on my last spin when I am left with the last $3 should I put in more money in order not to repent on losing the Jack pot for playing just 3 lines on my last money left?

    • @GambleSmart
      @GambleSmart  2 месяца назад

      Good question - It largely depends on the game. Most of the older games, you would have hit what you saw if you played all lines. Some of the newer games (such as the new Top Dollars and Pinballs), that would not be the case.

    I have to disagree with you about the back-up spin. I've hit back-to-back jackpots several times with the back-up spin. Some casinos (Harrah's Rincon comes to mind) will make you take a back-up spin after they hand pay you a big win. Plus, as you stated, it's good etiquette.

    Slot designers exploit ignorance and misunderstandings of math. Is that evil? Probably. Slot machines would work just as well if they were more open about the probability of winning and losing. Pulltabs and scratch/instant lottery tickets have a much worse return, publish data about the low return, and still manage to sell.
    And this says nothing about the murky relationship between slot makers and "influencers" who peddle misinformation and normalize problem gambling behaviors.

      The problem is there’s no education or ‘pass’ required to gamble. You turn x age, and you’re good to go! There should be a gambling licence people need to pass a test for, including basic probability knowledge and statistics. The math of slot machines is a lot to get your head around for the average person. If you asked most people they’d say they expect to get back 90% of their lifetime losses at some point, maybe by way of hitting a few grands or something, but that’s not how it works. You could be down 10’s of thousands and not be ‘owed’ anything by the machines. The machines pay you by way of keeping you playing. The more you play, the more you lose.
