    Burley have made a big mistake not putting connection fittings on the Tote Bag, you are 100% correct and thanks for pointing this out.

    • @bernhardreviews
      @bernhardreviews  3 года назад

      Yes exactly, this omission was a suprise for me when opening the package. But it still a great offering considering the wide stand, the included wheel guards, the new quick hitch and the extendable toe arm. One other minor problem that someone pointed out that you have to be careful when opening the trailer because the handles can be turned too far and then kind of snap: ruclips.net/video/ULNem6g-M4w/видео.html

      @@bernhardreviews Yes, I hope Burley sort this out. The type of people willing to separate with the $ Burley ask indicates they want it badly enough and I don't doubt many view it as an answer to owning a car - so reliability will be prime.

      @@bernhardreviews So far I am very confident it will last. I treat it with respect for a start, but have semi-unintentionally tipped it twice - first time was descending the hill leaving my house where there is a 90 degree bend, I didn't slow down at all. Second time was another sharp turn at average speed except this time the load was as high as it could be. My fault both occasions. Its a very very small characteristic that I am now consciously aware of. When you are transporting like this you will not really need to be speeding as normal.
      I hope Burley go back to fitting the links to the tote bag - a prime feature if you ask me.
      Also I hope they improve by increasing robustness of the new 2-way handle. Its made the mech more complex and, in my opinion, no great advantage.
      But as you correctly say, the included wheelguards are a plus and less expense. I like the description of the coupling and telescoping extension as well. Best improvement for sure is the stand - I am especially careful with mine, the new one is the best.
      Hope to see you do more vids, (you should introduce your better half as well!) they're quite good Bernhard!

    One problem with this trailer I haven’t seen mentioned much is the weird place they chose for their rear light. When the upper part of the tow arm is horizontal (as it’s supposed to be while in use), the light is perfectly obscured by the “fork” and the twist handle behind it, as long as one’s eye is at about the same level as the light is. Some secondary reflections may pass over the handle but I wouldn’t trust it with my life. The light itself is very nice and simple through. I just need to find a simple way to rise it some 5cm higher that doesn’t interfere with the trailer when folded.

    I have heard people say the Travoy can be unstable when you go around corners, especially on rough ground. Have you ever had any problems with this?

    • @bernhardreviews
      @bernhardreviews  2 года назад +1

      Around corners I drive more careful because of the higher point of gravity it can tipple over but esp. if it get cought on a curb. But if you stay away from such obstacles usually no problem at all, it is very flexible.

    Thanks for honest reviews. I wonder your opinion on the cargo trailer from Hinterher Hmini/Hmax. Do you recommend it over Burley Travoy? I’m looking for a trailer for my Brompton setup.

    • @bernhardreviews
      @bernhardreviews  2 года назад

      the travoy is good for the Brompton because of the small tires the trailer has a lot of clearance... the Hinterher I never tried but it is a different design as I explained also in the beginning of my review. It depends on your requirement if you want to transport cargo that is more wide (like furniture boxes etc.) the Hinterher design is better suited... the Travoy you can also use without the bike for carrying stuff but it is better for stuff that is not so wide (like golf equipment, bags, etc.) and it can tipple over which will not happen with trailers that are attached to the axis... also the (new) Travoy hitch you can easily swap between bikes... difficult to say... what do you want to transport with your Brompton?

  • @taber247
    @taber247 2 года назад +1

    Yes the Tote/storage bag not having Swivel Clips on it for use as a lower luggage bag is sensless. Definitely a retrogresive step on Burley's part.
    The clips cannot be found anywhere: and neither Burley nor Queedo will supply them or give me the clip ppliers / manufactures details for me to contact them direct.
    PS your girlfriends bike has plenty of space between back rack and rear wherl, so lower it, then it will doubtless accomodate the Travoy.
    Thank you
    Take care

    • @bernhardreviews
      @bernhardreviews  2 года назад +1

      yes exactly, maybe if you have access to a 3d printer you could print the clips. With my girlfriend this is actually a very good idea, but I guess it would mean to buy a different rear rack that is lower... but you are really right, you know these kind of things you don't see when making a video... but I think it is still a valid point to show because it will still be a problem for many people.

    Also you can buy an adapter plate for a bike rack and you could hook the old trailer up to your girl friend's bike.

    • @bernhardreviews
      @bernhardreviews  3 года назад

      yes this is totally true and I should have mentioned it in my review. But I am not a fan of this adapter plate because it blocks the bike rack (at least the upper part of it) and also I am not sure if I can still carry the same weight with it (compared to mounting it on the seatpost), i.e. if it is as robust. Last but not least I don't like that the angle is not horizontal when mounting the trailer on the bike rack and I would run in all the problems I mentioned in my review... maybe Burley makes an updated version that is quickly removable, that would be cool.

    My Travoy and Dahon 20 Flips every mile, all loads tiny bumps. Not on my 622 wheeled bike.
    The trailer has a quirky geometry. Some bikes don't work well with it
    D rings for attaching your own bags and straps are easy to find.
    A small triangle of Coroplast makes a good fender, to keep the wheel from rubbing.

      I wouldn't bother printing Drings. They are cheaper by the bag from China than than is materials to print. They just have to fit over the anchors. It is a bummer that Burley messed with the bags. Sew a flat strap to the one they ship with and recover its function. Making your own straps is easy and you get just what you need. Sewing is better than meditation, too. The Travoy is a $150 trailer that tries to sell you $500 worth of accessories. Good at what it does, just limited. Your fenders are gorgeous, but coroplast and zip ties have that ghetto elegance that is hard to beat at their price point and the web strap that Burley added makes them work well. You can even match your colors, depending who is running for office when you recycle their sign. You don't want to rub on your iSUP.
      The seat height issue also affects trailer suspension geometry, and with its narrow wheel base makes its tendency to flip worse when bounced.

      @@corilu1965 Nee bin überhaupt nicht böse, hatte das Gefühl schon während der Aufnahme und danke für die Bestätigung. Ein paar Schnitzer habe ich noch während der Aufnahme ausbessern können, aber für mehr hatte ich leider nicht die Zeit (bzw. wahrscheinlich auch nicht die Übung im Moment), v.a. gegen Ende merkt man das und beim Voiceover.

      I have the older one too and just bought a new ebike with an integral rack. I was going to buy the rack mount, but I am rethinking as charging $39 Cd for two pieces of aluminum with 6 screw holes in it amounts to theft. I am going to write Travoy about that too.

    Your accent is hilarious! That's why I watched the video, although the content was quite good. Please get a haircut, introduce your girlfriend (assuming she has a name) and ask her not to let her hair fall in front and cover the item she is 'demonstrating'.

      Hey mate, thank you for the very specific feedback this is highly appreciated (I had to laugh esp. my hair)! I am sorry someone else was also complaining I wrote the script for this video in German (did the German version video first) and then kind of translated it on the fly (while recording the video), I should have done it the other way round (my english is usually not as bad as in this video). I will tell my girlfriend Patricia she will like your comment... I am very thankful for her help because I know it is not always easy with me because I have very high standards for my videos ;-) This video was lots of work esp. buying the trailer and sending it back (not sponsored) but I know with the language I will have to put in more effort but I was on a tight schedule because I could keep the trailer just for a short period because I had to send it back (I also wanted to make more scenes outside but I could not make the trailer too much dirty or break it because I maybe would not get the money back from the shop hehehe)

    Completely unimpressed by the English pronunciation, you stumble through the foreign language vocabulary here. This is almost unbearable and extremely incomprehensible, so why in English?

    • @bernhardreviews
      @bernhardreviews  3 года назад

      Hey my friend I am sorry I already explained somewhere that I have written the script for this video in German and translated on the fly while recording, this is why it is not perfect (it is not easy to translate a language on the fly). I hope you still appreciate my efforts: This is not a sponsored review. It was a crazy amount of work for me because I had to order the product and then send it back soon after so I had very little time to do so the review. That's why I had no time to write a proper script in English. But I can assure you for my future videos I will make a separate script for English version and I also hope that I will have more time then. Also I do English versions to help more people, I get almost nothing back for this video in monetary terms but still this is my most successful video I ever made (maybe because of that, because it is really honest). So it cannot be so bad as you write but of course I respect your opinion. Just so you know, this video had 100 likes without a dislike for some time, and it is ranked number 1 for lots of keywords. So I am still happy that I did it because this is what counts for me in the end, that I was able to help a lot of people and educate them on a product that I think is really valuable. You know I had many doubts for example if should really do this, like ordering a product just to send it back, make two videos in separate languages, make something without getting much support from the manufacturer, etc. etc. But I am happy that I did not hear to these voices and went through with it, there are so many naysayers and my inner one is one of the biggest. If you have read this until hear I thank you for your time, again of course I totally respect your opinion and I will work hard every time so that I am better to understand. Thank you
