The only automatic half barrier crossing to exist on the East Coast Main Line (ECML), which at the time of filming, still retained Mk1 "Penguin" half barriers which are seen as a rarity. Also at the time of filming, construction was starting on a new flyover which will cause the permanent closure of this level crossing. The construction was expected to take around 10 months to complete.

Scotland! This is a beautiful crossing, very pretty white picket fencing, lovely country road listen to the birds singing. Fab alarm & barriers. Nice catches ❤😊👍
Thank you!
Nice one 👍 love this crossing, but i will miss it a lot
Thanks. Yeah it was a nice crossing.
I’m coming back to Scotland in June, hopefully to catch this crossing before it closes.🤞
Fingers crossed. By the looks of the construction I filmed at the beginning, the crossings' days are numbered.
Excellent video and crossing 👍
Thanks!
Your first Scotland video doesn't disappoint! I love the Twin Arm barriers, but it's such a shame that they'll be gone, and leave East Lothian with only 1 crossing. Great videos of this really nice crossing that will soon leave us
Thanks! Well it'll leave St Germains which is also quite a nice crossing.
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel yes, true
You don't get much time for error there! A pleasant countryside setting 😊👍
Yeah not with these automatic crossings you don't. Around 30 seconds from activation to train passing for a lot of these crossings.
fantastic video and friends!! 😎😎
Thanks.
From what i heard that this crossing is gonna get taken away but at the same time i did hear someone say they where gonna upgrade it
The videos at the beginning showed the current state of construction on a new bridge. I believe this crossing will be permanently closed and replaced by a bridge in less than a year.
@Leeswinburn
Great video in Markle level crossing at East Lothian.
Thanks.
Great video and crossing! Shame the classic signals there are soon to be removed. I have to wonder if any other AHBs once existed on the ECML.
Thank you. There might have been others in addition to this one, but Markle is the only one I know of.
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel You’d be correct, the rest are mostly MCB-CCTV between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh Waverley.
@@Newtownabbeyist208 Yeah, it's a mix of MCB, MCB-CCTV, MCB-OD and even a MG.
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannelThere's a few 'MGs', but I think they're all opened on request. Not a surprise given the speed and frequency of trains though.
Fantastic Video and Shots! 👍🏻👍🏻 Really like these alarms! Shame this crossing is going soon.
You seemed to have dropped the H in shame!
Thanks!
@@UAndEthanGreen617I missed-typed it but it’s sorted now.
