Did speed it up by 1.5 just to get it faster but it's always better to speed it up manually than having to slow it down if it's too fast

I was not sure if a texture pack tool for 1.20 was out yet but I found this video, so simple and easy to learn and not only shows you how to do it but shows why it works like that. I had an issue with my texture pack where I changed the name of an item texture and I couldn't figure out what I did wrong, so this video was very very helpful. Thank you so much!

Another reason you might want to delete all the unnecesarry unmodified textures is because they might conflict with other texture packs you have installed. When i first made mine (Turned the Wood sword into a bokken and the stone sword into a Macuahuitl) the start screen for the game was just blank, grey, and static instead of showing 1.20's cherry blossoms. When I opened one of my worlds and opened my inventory, I had the vanilla GUI instead of the clear one I had installed months ago. other texture packs I had installed might have been affected to, but I didn't check because all my packs are subtle ones.
I started over with making my teture pack, this time making sure to delete all unmodified textures and it fixed all the issues. So it's more necesary than you might think to delete them all.

Hmm, I'm not sure I know exactly what you mean, so feel free to elaborate if I didn't full answer your question, but I think what you asking for is something like a program to change colors in bulk. I have personally searched very far for this and haven't been able to find anything really good. The closest I've come is this website: www4.lunapic.com/editor/?action=changecolor

hey !! hi i followed this process with an optifine installation from my versions folder, ive got to a point where all the files are extracted and ive isolated textures to edit, i assume if im running it back into the optifine installation it will be okay ( i hope ), but should i just stick to and use the 1.20.1 ( thats the optifine version ) pack format or will that cause problems?

17:15 you say to compress it to a zip file, my system dosent do it alone and 7zip only alows it to be compressed to a e-mail for some reason

You can't rename the textures because the code says to make the apple texture the folder "apple.png"
Actually deleting everything unchanged in the texture pack DOES make a difference.
If you don't do that, it will overwrite ALL of the textures below it as minecraft overwrites the textures in a texture pack below it if the file exists.

theres another way to get the assets folder out the jar file, you can open the jar with winrar and copy the assets folder

hey, how do yo resize items like golden apples for example? I try to resize them by using canvas but it just makes it blurry or it just basically crops the things out of the image.
To resize them make sure you use a multiple of 16 to resize, and type in the new size instead of dragging with your mouse

At 11:04 where you say to open a text document, for me the file type just says "Text Document" instead of "TXT file", what do I do? Also where did you get the description to paste into NotePad++?

btw if it just says "TXT file" it means you don't have show file extensions enabled so yeah enable it
You were so close with predicting the value for 1.20.1
You need to keep it the name as intended in the video. This is because of Minecraft's code. If you name it other than the original then the texture will not be found because within minecraft's code it executes the texture to be rendered on the official name.

I don't have .jar infront of the jar file, and when i try to convert it into a zip, it doesn't work. i've downloaded 7-zip, is there something i'm missing?
edit: nvm i figured it out xd
so i put it as a zip but theres no assets folder, theres only folders like armor,achievement and stuff

Yes! you can, this would be your pack.mcmeta file.
replace X with the lowest and Y with the highest pack format. Do keep in mind that whilst Minecraft doesn't indicate your pack being outdated, that things could still break (no comma after Y is intentional)

When I open the folder of the version I want to make a resource pack for, it doesn't show a .jar file, only a .json file. Help? I have hidden items shown, if that matters.

I know why! Make sure you actually launch the version, not Forge, Fabric or OptiFine if you have that.

I have a problem with the mcmeta part because my text file didnt have a .something. Mine was just a name and i tried to make it a mcmeta but it just changed the name and I tried to use word instead of notes but that made it into a txt and also I couldn’t open it because I don’t own word. I don’t know what to do please help
Make sure you can see file name extensions. If you don't know how to enable them look it up for your specific operating system (for example Windows 11) once you can see file name extensions it should work if you make sure you replace the existing one.

I've done it and it supposedly works, only it doesnt load the custom textures for some reason.
my pc wont update paint 3d and so i did it with just paint. So in the finished result the background of the items i did are white instead of clear. Can u help me pls? If its important im on 1.20.1 and did the diamond sword and totem.
Make sure that you set the background of the canvas as 'transparent canvas' and then erase the white area.

Don’t know if you know this, but since they only have one book texture for enchanted books, if I were to copy and paste one, rename it to, for example, “enchanted_book_sharpness_I.png”, would that work for changing each individual texture?
No, sadly that wouldn’t work
You can only change that by making a mod, or download a mod that does that
after renaming it from 'jar' to 'zip' and after accepting it could become unusable it tells me i already have that file saved under 'jar'

I found the tutorial really helpful, but when I got near the last step with the code, I didn’t have Notepad++, so I got it but when I tried to open the document again, it was a normal document, I hate to be a bother but if you could make a 1.20.4 version, that would be nice

Did everything Like you did but my Textures arent showing in Game, can select the resource Pack and its for my Version but None of my reworked Textures are showing up
this is likely due to a missing folder or spelling error, make sure you've included folders like the 'minecraft' and 'assets' folders as well as that you've spelt 'blocks' correctly for example
how to do when there is name of item like Diamond Sword but i renamed to Diamond_OP it will not show new texture pack i try a lot
It doesn't work when you rename it, you need to just make it be called diamond_sword

Make sure you've fully loaded up and played that version of minecraft

It might be in a different location for you. Look up how to see file name extensions for your operating system

You can only write things in between the quotation marks where it says description
Идеально. Это лучше чем брать шаблоны. И этот тутор хрен найдёшь. Обычно всё завалено, что нужно использовать дефолтный шаблон, который и редактируешь. По умолчанию не давало покоя, что останется куча лишних данных.
Правда что касается файла "mcMETA", лично я до этого качал текстур пак и в нём были фишки с отображением красивых слов при выборе в настройках датапака. Собственно из него я и взял файл mcMeta, отредактировал под себя. В любом случае, не понимаю, почему на 1.20.4 мало текстурпаков, да и модов тоже мало, хотя фабрик и фордж, уже обновились до 1.20.4, но большинство модов всё ещё на 1.20.1, хотя там, в .4, довольно приятные фиксы.

Hey, so, when I try to name the pack pack.mcmeta, it never changes the type to MCMETA File. I tried different things, but it won't even say pack.txt. It just says, New Text Document.
