Hey. I just discovered this channel. You should get back to YT. I think you have a really interesting collection and good taste in games. It'd be nice to see more.

Awesome Stephen! I'm looking for the Metal Slug RAM pack, Nekketsu Okayu, and In The Hunt, and would love Zero 3 but it's too pricey for me. Ooh, Hyperduel! That's a big one out the way. Good idea to get the priciest first, wish I'd done that with the Dreamcast collection.

      Hey Pete,
Thanks :) those three games are great, I'd say I prefer Nekketsu Oyaka mostly as it has some quality gameplay features.
Zero 3 won't get any cheaper. It's expensive here, it's expensive everywhere. I got very lucky with my one thankfully.
Hopefully, I'll save some money if I buy the big ones first. Something like Taromaru apparently had a limited print run, so it's in my best interests to buy it soon, if I can lol.
Cheers for comment as always :)

Have you guys been affected by all the rain and flooding? Take care and talk soon.

    • @Redraw4444

Hey mate, I'm fine. The flood affected mostly rural areas in Oita and Fukuoka-ken. Also, my phone went into restore mode, so I lost my line account. Will have to try and get ahold of you somehow.
Thanks for your concern. Hope the baby is doing well!

Redraw4444 Maybe try Softo Taku or Soft Otaku on Facebook, or ytsoftotaku@gmail.com. Glad to know you are all safe. Baby is a champion and so is her mother.

Great gets, agreed on getting the big ones out of the way. Check out Taromaru for Saturn too. How do you find Mandrake shopping I went there last year and noticed prices were getting silly, but not as bad as Super Potatoe. All the best

      Hey man, thanks.
Taromaru is on my radar. It's just as and when I can stump up the cost for a nice minty copy of it.
Mandarake is great. For certain systems like PC engine, Saturn and SFC Manadarake has games in stock that you can visibly see. The prices aren't much different to eBay, but with my collector sunglasses on I see the prices as fair as I'm able to check a large quantity of quality stock in store and it's fun to hunt through everything.
I've never been to Super Potato. One day maybe, in no rush. The yen is getting stronger against other currencies recently. Add to the fact that Japanese retro has become more popular and it's selling like hot cakes, we're going to see prices increase even more, in my opinion. The demand is too high for the higher end stuff for the three aforementioned systems.
      Cheers for comment!

    Where you at man?

Nice Saturn collection Steve, I was wondering where is that Hyper Duel when you just took it out from your shelve... :-) Where are you exactly located in Japan? Fukuoka? The prices that you are paying are quite low so I guess you are not buying in Tokyo.

    • @Redraw4444
      @Redraw4444  8 лет назад

I'm based in Fukuoka, but I rarely buy from stores. The guy that got me Hyperduel is based in Tokyo, so it was essentially an Akihabara store price that he sourced it for me for, with commission.
Prices are going crazy recently. It's a crazy time to be involved with Japanese gaming and retro gaming in general.

+Redraw4444 Yes, I can only agree with you, prices are going crazy nowadays in Japan. I bought my Hyper Duel mint with Hagaki and Obi for 32,000 Yen in June 2014. Now if you are lucky you could find one for 52,000-59,000 Yen. I managed to pick up the last titles that I wanted for my Sega collection (Mega Drive, Saturn & Dreamcast) and now I'm rushing to get the last ones for my Nintendo collection (Famicom & Super Famicom) and Neo Geo AES. But for some titles, it is just impossible to find them at a reasonable price...

Are you big on Super Famicom stuff too, Ste? Some of those games are getting crazy in price now days. Everything seems to be catching up with the NTSC and PAL regions.

The SFC has gone mental. The Saturn is only just about affordable, but the SFC is climbing out of reach. In a lot of cases the SFC versions are more expensive than the PAL and North American releases, especially platformers and action games (Non RPG). Also, all the large, attractive lots on yahoo auctions have the same bidders all the time, they're middle men for western buyers that buy though the companies and ship it for them worldwide.
Essentially, SFC prices are fixed across the board. You're unlikely to save much, if anything on decent higher end titles and bundles. Sad times!
      Cheers.

I suppose I can be grateful i got a lot of my titles in before things got out of hand. I got Wild Guns complete for £80. I'll always regret not picking up Doremi Fantasy for £90 when I had the chance too! :(
