Very nice performance bump. I had a 2016 F10 530d and it managed 290hp on the dyno stock (can't remember torque), was unable to get it remapped at the time (2017) as the ECU was locked. Was a solid engine and very smooth and relentless.
@@Robdutton91 probs a Celtic tuning dyno where they quote 30-40 bhp more then any other mappers but all they do is set the dyno up to read 30-40 bhp more

I know they're both 3.0 inline 6s, but what gives the B57 like 150 more hp? Could whatever it is be done to the N57? Do both engines have similar capabilities and sort of max out at the same power levels?

Main difference is size. F-series is smaller than the g series one, which helped it fit. Obviously we had to adjust mounting positions but hopefully we'll get something in for the G20
Have you tried port meth rather than charge pipe? Port meth plates are common in b58 scene and given the component share between both, be interesting to see one tuned with port meth

What are you talking about single turbo? This car has a twin scroll turbo so even though it’s optically single turbo it’s not / single turbo. There’s 2 turbos in there low and high pressure turbines. Or are you simply claiming BMW is laying about that?

Originaly this term denotes wastegated turbocharger that utilizes separate exhaust paths for both cylinder banks, integrated into turbine housing. It gave better spool performance. But we are talking big truck turbos, not these high tech VNTs. Now you can stop thinking, there are two turbos lol.

@@piovo1 it was at Evolve Automotive. Don’t have the dyno sheet anymore though. Car had 2000 or so miles at the time and oil changed at 1200 miles.

In a lot of ways they are very similar. Search N57 on our channel we have quite a few of these 400bhp+
m57 is better anyways
BMW did sell a 540D in the US in 2018. It has the B57
b57 idles smoother compared to n57 but the hp is not more than 5-10 it is very minimal if any difference when stock.
How much power can a stock internal B57 (from the 30D) handle reliably with a single turbo setup?
Around 400hp and upwards of 600lbs/ft. This one did 412hp without cams and water meth

Been told that B47 injectors are a small upgrade for N57 engine. Solenoid both of those.

Exhaust doesn’t feed into compressor housing.Turbine housing is fed from exhaust gasses which in turn spin the compressor wheel.

the torque curve is terrible, less torque than a 320d at 1800rpm...
Bigger turbos cause lag but with this much power, you won't be driving at 1800rpm that often

How hard is it to remove the dpf ? Do you have to remove engine mount or there’s enough space for it to come out
RWD models come out from the bottom pretty easily. The AWD models are a little harder
