How can we explain to our children what it was like to grow up in the joy of such a beautiful time when this culture was such a big part of your life? We grew up on the Southwest side of Chicago, enjoyed this kind of entertainment always, weddings, a child's birthday, a first Holy Communion, whatever, did't need a reason to have a polka party, but it was fun for everyone and brought all together in smiles with dancing, golumpki, cheese blintzes floating in melted butter, home-made Polish Sausage, sauerkraut, fresh home-made bread (my mom made the best of heavens' fresh bread and butter was unforgettable!) . All had their fill...Plum Pierogi with cinnamon and butter and sugar... and all covered in beautiful happy Polkas to chase the blues away no matter what. You always had a great time, met with old friends many large families and always found new friends. Maybe at Polonia Grove on Archer Avenue, many local veterans halls, sometimes outdoors or in... Yugoslav Hall on 56th & Narraganset... all over the neighborhood, or Cook County or Chicago Park districts never expensive, but alwsys fun...on Sunday mornings after Mass, there was a Polish am radio station broadcasting Polkas and local events in Polish, many knew then. Oh I wish for a time machine to share this kind of happiness the world needs today. But we do have, thankfully, some out there who share similar stories from all over and preserve bits and pieces of them for us here, for that, we are grateful. Be happy, not offended, laugh at yourself first, always remember your good fortune in humility and share all with others, know true blessings when you see them and thank our good Lord for each.
Love when he sings in polish , something about his voice . Brings me back to my grandparents an the days of big polish party's with our huge family . Well, they were undoubtedly having a lot of fun! It's had to knock that!
Im not trying to say that these people aren't talented, but it is painful to listen too.
Then don't listen, just as I don't listen to the crap that is supposed to be music today. Also, it's listen "to". Go take a few spelling lessons.
Wow
