Roughly 40 years ago, in my teens/20's, I could never see the value in Big-Band music. Now that I'm well into my 60's, it has dawned on me how *classy* this music genre is, and that there was likely a great deal of work put in to make this sound so *wonderful!*
My Dad was in the Army during WWII. I didn't come along until 13 kids later in 1969. I grew up with every 70's genre and the 80's hair bands and dance music. I even loved the 60's rock and folk music because of my older siblings but those tunes, even the great ones, dont stand up to these classics. You really had to be talented (all around music/dance) entertainer to be in any kind of show-biz back then. Man I love this music. Miss you Pop and thank for your service during the Big One!
nah, this is good, but its not "never will be surpassed good" many genres post 1965 music revolution have incredibly hard work put into them, they WERE talented, YOU just didn't see it
I have memories listening to this kind of music. I was born in the 70s but my grandfather was born in the 20s and this is the music he grew up on. So riding in the truck with him as a young man this is what I heard
I was 7 when the WW 11 ended and big band music was still popular. You had to be a real musician in those days. But along came guitar music and bands disappeared. Try sitting still listening to BENNY GOODMAN playing SING, SING, SING.
I got the love of big bands from my dad. When my kids were young, I took him to a place one night that had a big band show. We danced a lot. Great memory. My mom and brother babysat for me.
I was brought up by my Grandparents, who i called Mum and Dad and during the war they danced to all this with Daddy throwingmy Mum over his shoulders, through his legs etc.. and still did when they were older. So Glad i grew up with such Amazing music !!!!
❤ I got the greatest gift in the world for my first birthday present. That was VJ day I was raised with this kind of music in the background, and no matter how much I love Bluegrass and Willie Nelson and ELO. This is the most soothing music for my soul.😂
I play trombone in a 40s style jazz band. Before the pandemic forced them to close their doors to non-resident-family visitors, we rehearsed in an assisted living center. The residents would come to our rehearsals and cheer for us, since we were playing the music they grew up with. I compare that to a really good Beach Boys cover group. I'd be there for every rehearsal, singing along with them!
Beautiful music; me Mom brought me well with Artie Shaw, Miller, folk like the younger soul, get on and listen, you’ll never regret it. I was raised by my mom (born 1924). Go for it 🙂
I was born in 1993 and my parents around 1960. This music resonates with me better than the stuff of their youth (70s and 80s rock pop and new wave) let alone thevso-called "music" of today.
I used to wonder who was better Goodman or Shaw. Its taken me a long time to figure it out, but now I know great as both are its Shaw on top. I don't know why it took me so long to choose
I knew no one that listened to this music nor was it played in our home. I was born in 78 and have an extremely eclectic palate. I heard big band music in all the old gangster and war movies i watched and just love the music from them. Im also a person who believes people should dress up when out and about. I used to be trapped in the wrong decade, now it's a whole other century.
I didn’t grow up listening to this. I grew up on oldies, classic rock and good country. I was introduced to this music by a video game. And boy I’m glad I was. I passed up fallout 3 when it came out, writing it off as a game I probably wouldn’t be interested in. Several years later I got it. And fell in love. It took a lot of the concepts from the 40s and 50s and brought them to life in a video game. I had always loved the setting and styles of pre and post World War II America. And this game made it even better.
My in-laws had a record collection and this album included. I could tell by how worn the album cover and how scratched the vinyl, they must have listened to it thousands of times. They were born in 1924 and 1928 and married for 65 years and loved dancing, music, sports. God Bless them.
I love this music so much, not because it’s my era, I’m only 56, but I was around my grandparents a lot and they listened to this music and it reminds me of them and how much I loved them.
Our Jazz Band in high school (I was Class of '73) played a lot of Big Band numbers....our band director was a big fan. At home, my Dad would put our local "big band" station on when he didn't feel like watching TV in the evening....his favorite band was Stan Kenton's. And then my cousin, the professional musician, played sax in the 1970's incarnation of the Glenn Miller Band for 5 or 6 years. As a result, I enjoy this music every bit as much as my late 60's-mid 70's progressive and psychedelic rock.
My greatgrandfather, not the murderer mentioned in a previous comment, but a different one, was born in 1921 and celebrated his 100th Birthday a few days ago, he grew up with this music and I still love it. He didn't remember me, but he was 100 years old and he never was my branch of the family all too much, provided he was in Massachussets and would spend the winter in Flroida, his furniture children living in both those places, whilst we were up in Maine.
Good for you son, you have great taste. Don’t listen to the garbage that’s being played today, and if your friends and fellow classmates make fun of you, tell to jump in the ocean.
That just shows how intelligent and mature you are. I am MUCH older than you, but I was about your age when I discovered how great the 1920s and 1930/40s music was!
The best. Musical upbeat & psychological uplift ! Imagine nights out - listening and dancing to this sort of Big Band Live Music ! A completely different mind set / spirit in terms of music, fun, culture, humour, etiquette, romance etc. I keep asking myself why we so willingly gave that all up ? And keep getting only one answer: We must be insane ...
Love listening to this music while tasking . *Work maintenance . "Stocking plumbing fittings and such " , Makes the day go faster because its filled with fun , even when thrown a curve ball 😊
I am 51 this year and I was born in the early 70s and grew up on 80s Metal and Pop music but I always loved this music as well. I remember to this day my grandpa saying at x mass one year " From Motley Crue to Benny Goodman. My dad had bought me a Benny Goodman C.D, I loved Benny since I was a kid. I was eccentric as a kid totally in to the past, Big Band era and silent films. I think I have an old Soul born long time ago living in a current body. I love this music thanks for sharing.
My parents were born in 1907/1913. They listened to this music a lot. Another wonderful thing was my siblings stretched from the 1940's to 1960's I had a real education when it came to listening to music.
When I was at Baird Road, we went to a concert in East Rochester, which was also a big bands concert. (all the music from the 30s and the 40s) "This is your mom's music, huh?"my staff said. I told my staff that Mom had a Columbia record player when I was little. "Mom had Sandler and Young, too!" I said. -Mark Weintraub.

I was born in the 70s and had my great grandmother and grand parents so I grew up with this music on record player
I used to wonder who was better Goodman or Shaw. Its taken me a long time to figure it out, but now I know great as both are its Shaw on top. I don't know why it took me so long to choose
I've gotten into big band music this year and very much like it. It's clean and great music
I'm sure I'm an 80 year old trapped in a 30 year old body. I love brassband music 🙂
Music like this will never die!!!
Fallout 4 is even better.
@@InquisitorMatthewAshcraft Both pretty great.. and both suck absolute shit compared to New Vegas.
@@spectrealangritch Everyone's entitled to their opinion, for me...
At least my pip boy hasn't glitched up lately 🤣
My in-laws had a record collection and this album included. I could tell by how worn the album cover and how scratched the vinyl, they must have listened to it thousands of times. They were born in 1924 and 1928 and married for 65 years and loved dancing, music, sports. God Bless them.
And God bless you.
Hello beautiful its nice to meet you here, i saw your comment is really amazing, how are you?
God bless you.
Sunday morning breakfast and coffee music.
I've always loved big bands and jazz. These genres of music help me relax as well as lower my BP and anxiety.
I'm constantly having anxiety attacks, this is the only thing that helped me lately thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️
I too figured that out in my early 20's.
It works.
Im 56 now lol
Get to a psychologist or psychiatrist they have medicine for that
Me too!!
Indeed....me too.,..welcome to the club...
Try to talk to Jesus Crist. He can help you.
My dad would play these albums at night over and over on his record player in his room!! We could hear it all over the house!
This genre of music is timeless!!!! ❤️❤️
Classic americana. Gotta love it.
Born @ 73 my boys love the big bands... One drives a stock ModelA the other a stock 55 and leans to doowop.
I love this music so much, not because it’s my era, I’m only 56, but I was around my grandparents a lot and they listened to this music and it reminds me of them and how much I loved them.
Our whole family listened to this when i was little!!!they don't make it like this anymore.oh the memories!!!thank you.
Recuerdo de mí juventud gracias por gratos momentos tengo 83 years
Our Jazz Band in high school (I was Class of '73) played a lot of Big Band numbers....our band director was a big fan.
I'm swinging and digging it with the rocknroll
This is a great album.
I'm 18 and I love this kinds of music
Im 15 and this slaps
I love all types of jazz
This was our parents music. Would have never listened to it as teenagers (70’s) . Absolutely love it now (70)! So calming.
Smashing music. Absolutely timeless.
Muzika iz 30-ih i 40-ih godina je vecita i najbolja za relaksaciju, koja krepi dušu. Džez je najbolje nešto što je Amerika dala. Toma S.
I had always loved the setting, music and styles of pre and post World War II America.

When is your birthday ❤
My greatgrandfather, not the murderer mentioned in a previous comment, but a different one, was born in 1921 and celebrated his 100th Birthday a few days ago, he grew up with this music and I still love it. He didn't remember me, but he was 100 years old and he never was my branch of the family all too much, provided he was in Massachussets and would spend the winter in Flroida, his furniture children living in both those places, whilst we were up in Maine.
Real and raw🎉
Thank u!
Yes!
Is it weird that I am 11 years old and I enjoy this
No, it means the future is in safe hands! Go for it!
Welcome to the club homie
Not weird at all....this is GREAT music.
This music may not have been meant for teens like me with all this new music since I was born in 2009 but I can tell one thing, I am in love with jazz
I was born 1949. My very first memories are these tunes playing in my grandparents.
One of the best style of music ever. Grew up with my dad playing this themes on vinyls. And the old Hollywood movies great memories
mine to
2020 and this music is still awesome! Like my grandma used to always say, when music was music.
My soul was there
I am 51 this year and I was born in the early 70s and grew up on 80s Metal and Pop music but I always loved this music as well.
This has got to be my favorite genre of music.
This is everything I need to be an antidote to the news. Thank you!
Same here pal!
Yep bingo 🐱🔥🌵

The only people I know that listened to big band were my grandparents and ever since I lived with them it’s grown on me.
Me ha gustado mucho.☺️😘🙋🏽♀️
Love those songs... I always dance with them lol!
WAY BEFORE MY TIME BUT I ALWAYS LOVED THIS MUSIC WHEN I WAS A TEENAGER I STARTED LIKING IT!!
My parents were born in 1907/1913. They listened to this music a lot. Another wonderful thing was my siblings stretched from the 1940's to 1960's I had a real education when it came to listening to music.
UNA DELICIA!!!! GRACIAS POR COMPARTIR ESTAS JOYAS DE LA MÚSICA!!! SALUDOS DESDE MÉXICO (NOV-2021)
When I was at Baird Road, we went to a concert in East Rochester, which was also a big bands concert.
(all the music from the 30s and the 40s)
"This is your mom's music, huh?"my staff said.
I told my staff that Mom had a Columbia record player when I was little.
"Mom had Sandler and Young, too!" I said.
