his point is that there is no difference between Jews. Conservative or reformed, Hasidic, Sephardic, Israeli, Russian, American, Practicing, convert to another religion or atheist. Jews are all one people. Jews are not just a religious group like Christians, Jews are also an ethnic group. He did not in anyway discuss those who choose to convert TO Judaism. He simply said that the brother's choice not to be a practicing Jew does NOT cut him from his ancestry or from the community of Jews.
Who made the Jew? Who made the baby when he was born? All that counts is doing the will of God, without Him Judaism is humanism. I fear it has already become that largely.

Hes not a "Grandpa", lol, he was a great holy Tzaddik(righteous man), a renounced Rabbi, Rav Menachem Mendel Schneerson zt"l.
He is not a grandpa, he's the latest leader of the Chabbad, one of the biggest Jewish movement in the world.
Is the talmud important as the torah i hear both are importtant
G_d said to the sons of Israel in the written Torah to Remember and Observe the Sabbath day. Nowhere in the written Torah says how to observe the Sabbath.
So in essence yes, there is an Oral Torah, or the Torah Shebaal Peh as we know it that instructs the sons of Israel on how to observe the Sabbath. Yes, they are both definitely important in Orthodox Judaism.

Grandmother is Jewish, gave birth to a male Jew, married ( in theory ) a non Jewish woman, then if that woman is your grandmother, not Jewish.
