I think it would become my new favorite if the movement buff was better and added a passive of reduced stamina while sprinting or something. So far my favorite armor in terms of overall buffs is the root armor because of its pierce damage resistance, poison resistance, AND bow damage buff.
woah! these caves look so cool! can't wait to explore them! the armour looks awesome too. but so does root armour. can't decide. i think both are cool in their own ways :) this new claws weapon looks useful, will enjoy playing around with it.

I think to really show people the running power of this armor. You should do Fenris V Padded armor (Or any armor that has to 5%- effect on chest and legs.) Fenris is 19% faster running compared to armour's that slow you down. Now that is a noticeable different. Just did my Mushroom run + some dear hunting in the Fenris armor, going back to Padded feels so slow xD
Lol I just finally found my first frost cave. I didn't realize I entered it without the rested buff. I got to the very bottom... Normally an abomination is easy but I never fought to it the same time before and my stamina was not recharging quick enough lol. Tonight I'm going on a corpse run lol
Would need a lot more testing, but just based on previous experience, I'm guessing the resistance to fire on the armor set bonus would give you 50% resist, and the resist potions (barleywine) would give you 75% resistance. It's the same for frost and poison with armor vs potions, so can't imagine they'd do this new set differently...
Overall video 9/10. I would have liked to see a run comparison with gear that normal people would be running around with such as full iron and shield equipped with a sword. Because well you're sprinting with your claws equipped right? Idk anyone who runs around this game naked that late in the game. But yeah, super good video
There is no such thing as a maze if you know what to do. Choose one side, left or right and keep moving alongside this side. Never change the direction. If you chose the left wall, ALWAYS keep moving left. It might take a while, but in the end you always will find the exit. Dont fear mazes.
This brings back memories from pokemon fire red. In that one cave where its all dark and you cant see anything. I know you can get hm flash but 10 year old me didn't know
The other advantage to following the left wall is that because the characters are usually right handed, following the left wall puts the weapon in the correct position to attack when rounding corners.
Funny story: I've found about 4-5 of these mountain caves in my playtrough and none of them had a cultists or those shrines with fenris hair, so I've just thought that the caves were used mainly for the crystal inside if then PS: The caves even had the areas lit up with fire and carpets that resemble shrines, but nope, nothing in them!
Nice guide. I've been playing off and on since this update, and the other day actually went out and looted my first mountain cave. I think I got everything but it's good to know what to keep an eye out for that I might not have found
You can parry incoming attacks while unarmed just like you can with a shield. I don't know what the exact stats are on how much damage you can parry off but it is possible. I'm sure since the claws count as a weapon, you will be able to do so wearing them. An easy way to level up your unarmed skill is to find a Greydwarf nest in the Black Forest and keep letting them spawn and fight them hand to hand.
I was parrying the then putting away my weapons and punching them down with the damage increase from the parry multiplier from the shields. Seemed to level up the fisticuffs pretty quick. That or getting then low then finish mobs with a haymaker. Not sure how the exp works for the kill or amount of damage done overall is more important. Fun either way
I went into one of those caves. Didn't know what was going on. Opened a door, got swamped by 3 Ulvs and a Cultist just spewing fire. Long story short, they gave me the business.
This is going to be my new armor. Will have to see how it fairs in a Moder fight but it looked pretty solid vs that fuling. As I stands now I will run around with just a helmet so I don’t take the movement speed penalty. Add in that great boost to unarmed and it is looking awesome.
The Music Volume & Appropriate level gear are Great tips for the most fun! I can see myself making a parkour Sign course to get past some of those baddies (if you are just entering Iron age). I hate to bring it up, as it could be patched, but jump ladders x Workbench-free signs is perhaps something that should be looked into by @Jsmars :P
i never played beta, i only played the early alpha in 2018 and still have the odin dlc, i was told it's from wishlisting the game in 2018 when it was announced on steam as tba.

Always follow the left wall, finish the floor and remember the stairs, go back after finishing a level and do the stairs you found, once again going clockwise
Who else specifically waited until they had silver gear because they assumed the caves would be the "end" content of the mountains instead of the start? D: Also, I personally have found farming silver gear to be much easier than the cave set.
Thought same, mainly because i entered the dungeon with fully upgrade root set, cuz i didnt eve make an iron set at all on this playthrough, first opponent i faced was cultist and o man, my hp burned quickly with the root lowered resistance vs fire, SO i was quite scared
Still sad that Odin Dlc is unobtainable forever, I wish I could at least craft and put it on a stand, betas could wear it, I just want to craft something that is in the Base Code of the game I bought is all lol, not even truly a dlc. what a strange idea that you enter mountains without max upgraded armor and weapon (unless you're speedrunning ofc). you're basically swimming in iron at this point...
Not really. It takes a while to get enough iron to max out all iron gear. During my first playthrough I went to the mountains and mined enough silver to have a max Drake Helmet before any of my iron armor was maxed out. Why? Because the Drake Helmet looked soooo cool! 😉
@@JirocTheViking well... i always upgraded my armor and weapons to max possible weapon(sometimes you just can't do it cuz of the bench level). especially when entering new biome. i don't like dying that much.... beside...you need less then 200-300 ore to upg your armor iirc. it's easily obtainable in 1 or 2 crypts. sometimes i skip tiers of armor (for example i don't craft leather cuz you almost always have access to troll. and i skip bronze and wood because of it. iron and padded though...they are always maxed. as for silver..that depends on rng. sometimes i find few good veins close to each other. sometimes i don't. but with the new fenris armor i'd probably skip silver and will try to get it instead. fire resist will be quite handy vs yagg)
A whole lot of fun until you run into a room with 10 werewolves that decimate you. I ended up having to make a stack of ooze bombs. Completely trivialised the cave.

All my mountain zones seem to be surrounded by plains. Death runs are a real challenge.
Gosh, as a brawler I love this idea for armor. My hand to hand is trash but it doesn’t mean I can’t punch everything tell lvl 100 lol
You shoulda tested the move speed vs heavy armor that’s where the insane amount of speed comes from

you should have done the speed test vs other armor rather than naked ..
