    I really want to thank you, Edwyn, for sharing this treasure----Truly, this footage is extremely rare as the entire archive of ABC's daytime lineup prior to about 1978 was somehow destroyed or completely erased---I really do not know the specifics, just that nearly every episode of OLTL, AMC, GH and Edge of Night from the 60's and much of the 70's no longer exist---I learned that about 20 years ago, and was absolutely shocked, after all, television, and the "serialized" television drama (AKA soap operas) was an extremely important part of America's popular cultural legacy, of the post WW2 decades and had a long-standing formidable presence in our entertainment history---both daytime and nighttime soaps---and is now a thing of the past, a form which will likely never be resurrected....This makes videos like these significant archaic artifacts....

      I think it’s because This Dorian is intense, you can tell in her eyes she does not care about the baby but only wants to make sure she is the one who finds it so she can be a heroine.

    • @b-ryemendez8335
      @b-ryemendez8335 4 месяца назад

      She is definitely up to something, her eyes are intense and she was ready to take any info for her own benefit, I liked this Dorian for her subtle and cold demeanor , she is the opposite of Robin’s Dorian. This is the Dorian who murders her husband.

      When I was in elementary school I was home sick a lot….The lady who kept house for us was insane about ABC soaps so the television was on the whole afternoon and OLTL was her favorite…Watching these pulls me back over 40 years and it feels like I was watching these yesterday…. I remember this storyline ( Kevin kidnapped by crazy Cathy C) so well…I know that Dorian was connected elliptically to this plot but I can not remember what it was…Years later when I became a fan in my own right, Robin Strasser was established in the role and I could not get over the complete departure from the way the role was originally styled. Robin Strasser’s interpretation was very broad and almost campy at times…Her Dorian was the epitome of a flashy, nouveau riche arriviste who was always over-the-top and could go from 0 to 100 in histrionics in the matter of a minute…There didn’t seem to be much of Nancy Pinkerton’s character left, her Dorian seldom got explosive and was usually cold and very calculating…RS Dorian could come off as absurd and humorous, almost satire at times, but there was NOTHING funny about NP’s Dorian…she was actually a frightening presence that almost had a sociopathic streak-her antics were REALLY shocking and her misdeeds were hard to predict because she kept you guessing just HOW monstrous Dorian could be…In later years, RS’s Dorian seemed haunted by what she did to Victor, whether it was guilt, or fear she would be exposed, the past frightened her and she would react in some extreme, desperate way and at times didn’t seem like she had it completely under control--By contrast, NP’s Dorian seemed to always have that icy little smile, and her persona was kept rooted in the original concept: She was ultra-intelligent, well educated ( a doctor of course) and utterly ruthless…She also was not initially written as any kind of rival or nemesis to Vicki--the unhinged Cathy Craig was clear antagonist throughout most of the 70s

    • @CRESCENTII1968
      @CRESCENTII1968 2 года назад +2

      Sorry to go on and on but this makes me very nostalgic. And I remember often throughout the later years thinking “How would the “original” Dorian have played this scene?”

    • @CRESCENTII1968
      @CRESCENTII1968 2 года назад +2

      I think the essence of the RS Dorian at its most intense was the scene when she was completely about to violate Victor’s grave, open his coffin and actually pour LYE on his fucking skeletal remains…that was one of the most BRILLIANT moments in the entire history of OLTL--I had never seen ANYTHING like it on daytime or nighttime television…They really pushed the envelope that day!
