    This.....marks my very FIRST....one and only......never EVER before accomplished (until today) subscription to a RUclips Channel. And I am ever so proud to say this for Justin Scarred / Randomland. I love, love, love to watch your video bloggy thingys and I am so glad you haven't given up your dream of making videos despite what others have negatively commented.

    Before Dole sponsored The Enchanted Tiki Room, that stand used to sell "Tiki Punch." This was a pink fruit punch that I'm sure was Disney's own secret recipe. For my part, I really enjoyed it and since I don't care for pineapple, the change was not a happy one for me. If I only I had been standing in Adventureland the day you filmed this and you could have pointed and said, "He remembers... he remembers." Take care, Justin, I only recently discovered your channels and am really enjoying them.

    That thing on top of the Adventureland sign was actually an animatronic parrot that would get people to the Tiki Room. You also didn't notice Uti, a tiki above the Dole whip stand that is now gone. She fell victim to dry rot and fell off the roof in 2000, and was never replaced.

    Note in the old photos the way people are dressed -- they're not dressed for a backyard beer blast or beach day. People had self-esteem to not look like schlubs in public.

    Awesome comparing the then and now photos! can't wait for the next set! Also glad to hear that the "Douchebagian" at the Wigwams made things right, guess he realized that a negative review, experience, etc.. thats out there for billions of people to see isn't worth $400. Keep em coming Justin!

    The figure up on top of the Adventureland sign was a lesser form of animatornic puppet. It was controlled by a cast member who had a view of the bridge from near the Tikiroom ticket stand. The puppet could be turned and its mouth and eyes could be opened and closed. The cast member could talk to the people from speakers as they entered the land. It tended to cause a backup as people would stop to hear what the puppet would say. Very entertaining. I don't remember how long the act remained, but I think it was there until the early 70s.

    I'm probably about the same age as Mr. Vinci and also had one of those Donald Duck hats that my parents bought for me during a late-60s visit. Donald's bill had a squeaker thingie in it, so if you squeezed it, the hat would quack! I'm happy that Wigwam Proprietor Dude paid back the surprise video fee. You handled your complaint with class and it was good of him to follow through. Please keep doing what you do!

    i totally remember those donald duck hats and the bill of the hat squeeked when you oinched it LOL. above the old adventure sign there use to be a monkey that would talk to guests but they took it out cause people would stop and it would totally crowed the enterence. at least thats what my mom told me, cause it was before my time i was born in 1966.

    Nice. This is why I love this channel[s], Memories! I have a souvenir book from 1975 (pictures were obviously taken late 60s-early 70s) that I got when I was 4. One of the only things I've kept after all these years. I actually prefer to see personal photos people took at Disneyland back in the day because I have similar photos of me :D

  • @jackybluj
    @jackybluj 8 лет назад +1

    Ok, where to start? In the early 60's when I was a kid the rockets were on the ground not elevated and there was no People Mover and no arcade. There wasn't anything sold at the Tiki Room. Nope, no Dole Whip. Jose' the parrot would talk to guests walking by to get them to come see the show. He would also tell them it was AIR CONDITIONED inside. Well worth using a ticket just for that! Tomorrowland also had the flying sausers which were popular.

  • @f2535
    @f2535 8 лет назад +2

    I could be wrong but as a kid I don't remember anything being sold once in line for the tiki room. If anything it would've sold to the main walkway to adventure land. Once redesigned this could account for the roof change to the Dole stand. Glad to hear things worked out in the wig wam flim flam. Lol

    I think that was a shrunken head over the entry to Adventureland. The talking parrot "Barker" was on the side telling people to come in to see the show in the Tiki Room. They did not used to have a food service at the Tiki Room before the Dole Whip (maybe a popcorn vendor)

    My favorite memory from Disneyland was either in late 1999 or the very early 2000s. It was the first time Disneyland was going to revamp Fantasmic and they had to close down the Rivers of America. Instead of putting up the usual barrier saying "We're imagineering something new for you!" They put up a white picket fence and had Tom Sawyer and Becky asking people if they wanted to white wash the fence. Even as a kid I found that both hilarious and brilliant.

      ur comment made me laugh out loud cause i just read kumars review replys on yelp and he literally claims that almost everyone who leaves a bad review is "drunk or high as a kite" (according to kumar) which makes me lol cause thats precisely what a drug user would say XD it also didn't help that everyone claimed his office smelled like weed.
