So agree on leftovers. I just had homemade (canned) tomato soup made with our garden tomatoes. Eating out can be disappointing. And boundaries is a great reminder.
Great video. Love the Esther quote. I'm becoming more minimalist and decluttering with an eye towards the future. My husband and I are both getting older, some health issues creeping in and we want to continue to live in our home/farm for as long as possible. So the less to manage/clean, etc the better. However we do still have preps put up for such as time as needed. During inflation we are able to eat food, use supplies bought with pre inflation dollars. However some costs we cannot control, increased insurances, property taxes, gas, utilities. All going up. It's getting harder to be retired for many. Thank you for combining both prepping and minimalist living in this video. I do believe they can compliment each other.
Every paycheck I take out the cash allowed for groceries and meals out. Makes budgeting a breeze. Always pay off the card every month. I currently have over $1500 in “reward cash” on my card… if you pay off your card every month then this is a great way to get free money.
Just found your channel, you have some very good ideas for living a life: Less material goods and more quality spiritual experiences. Many of the ideas you presented we have been living for sometime. 1. My cable T.V. went out in 1987(replaced by a piano for my preschooler). 2.
Grow your own food. The set up takes time, the maintenance is fairly easy and very rewarding. Since 2021 we started growing veggies ...started with tomatoes from store bought ones. Failed. Then Tried okra from donated seeds. Partial success. Grew lettuce (neighbours seeds) ...some success. Today i grow all my greens and a few other veggies . Start small. Dont give up. Mama nature will teach you. And she wants you to use her gifts for free ❤❤❤❤

Prices at our GoodWills around here have just shot up on everything. It is not longer a great deal to buy second hand around where I live (Chicago suburbs). Same prices as Target now. I got a great barn coat from a thrift store for $7 about five years ago. Now, same thrift store-a USED TEE SHIRT costs $7! Honestly! You can often get new things cheaper at the big box stores. Not like I need another tee shirt, used or new.
This is a great video! Sometimes we forget that we can spend less and save money. Although money isn't everything in life, it's still important. Sweden is pretty much a cashless (right word? Unsure...) society. Haven't used cash in... gosh... I can't remember. Many stores etc doesn't even accept cash. I use a debit card. The only thing my money goes to are doctors appointments and meds. Fun huh... it could be worse so that's ok. Of course, we do travel every now and then. Wardrobe very minimal, just having what I need and that's surprisingly not much lol! Love ♥️🌹

Time is money...and the time it takes to sell stuff online (and forget eBay with the greedy fees), isn't worth the endless dumb questions (Is it available???) and flakes who you wait for but who don't show - or try to haggle to get something already listed for little money, for free. No, thanks. Give away or donate - and in a few weeks you won't remember what you dropped off at Goodwill. I'm more "Apocalypse minded" heading into winter here in New England. I stock up on food, tp, water, batteries, blankets, extra dog food, and keep my car gas tank full. Cryptocurrency - LOL!!! Nope!

It sounds like you are really anticipating a catastrophic situation, which is very sad 😢 Things are not so gloomy here in Australia. Our country avoided the impact of the global financial crisis in 2008 because the government actively stimulated the economy. Although the cost of living has increased post-pandemic I would never need to consider some of the apocalyptic measures you have in place. From a climate change perspective, though, we did install solar power and battery last year. We are replacing our gas appliances with electric when they reach end-life and hopefully can install a rainwater tank. I hope you never need the contents of your room for anything other than weather related reasons. ❤
I came here to say the same thing, except I’m in NC, but also in the USA. I think a lot of it has to do with politics. I don’t consume much right wing media, but when I do, it’s a lot of fear.

I feel like I've seen a lot of videos lately where people start by showing themselves making their morning coffee or whatever and I guess it kind of makes you feel like the person is relatable and real and like maybe you know something more about them than their subject matter? Maybe that's what I was going for in a way. But LOL I definitely won't be doing that in every video. 🙃. Live and learn by trial-and-error, right? 😊

Learn to hand sew - it takes a bit to learn the hand eye coordination but you can then repair or remodel anything made of fabric.
That is a great tip and a great skill to have!
