One of the most underrated things about drumming is how you end fills. People mess up by losing the feel or by just repeating the same thing they played because they can’t find a feel that matches immediately. Xavier doesn’t struggle with this. He’s the only drummer that can overplay and sound incredible the whole time . He’s incredibly versatile and always finds a way to keep the feel with complex but fitting rhythms. No one has the touch like he does. It’s so impulsive and remarkable.
Xavier is one of those guys who really approaches everything with the "giving 110%" mentality. Gonna be this generations Gadd, Cobham etc. He has his own sound that you identity as him right away.
Agreed! But with cats like Larnell Lewis and "blaq dynamite" still alive and well, I think he's more of another element rather than source, but I see what you're saying! 👍
Yes you said it, I was younger with Billy he was so great. My late brother keyboards had me learning it’s amazing music Herbie Hancock I was lucky to see so many greats live!
