    Hi Simon, It was an incredible puzzle. I love this variant of Sudoku. Discovering the numbers in the T shapes and using that to find the other numbers is great fun. As always great videos and puzzles. Looking forward to the patreon puzzle and the solution video.

    Today's puzzle is too difficult and slow (and Wrogn), I'm saving it for retirement. The Algorithm gave me these older faster puzzles and I loved the two-tee one. I'll do this four-tee one next but not tonight. Already gave it the up-thumb because I know it will be worth it.

    17:54 I solved this 3 placement differently. First I noticed that the T shape in the lower right corner has only 2 candidates for a 3: box 9 square 4, and box 6 square 7. BUT, if 3 is in box 6 square 7, it rules out a 3 from both squares of that 3/4 pair up there, because it sees both of them. Therefore, the 3 for the bottom right T shape must be in box 9 square 4.

  • @lakarto19

    36:21 solve time; I was pleased with myself for spotting that the T-shapes had to be a 12346 combination (relatively) early, but as with most puzzles on Cracking The Cryptic, the puzzle proved to be surprisingly resilient even after that. Really enjoyed solving through the logic behind this one though, thank you once again!

    01:16:34 - took some time to wrap my head around what the constraints actually meant (and I kept thinking the grey cells had to be higher, not lower - thankfully there's an undo function). Still fun to solve, though.

    I love watching the videos for puzzles like this where there's really only one solve path. Knowing what comes next is half the fun, just waiting for it to be seen. For pure fun value in solving, I think I slightly prefer solving puzzles that are a little more open, with all kinds of stuff going on everywhere. But this was another great puzzle. I wonder what Aad will come up with next.

  • @tadperry1817
    @tadperry1817 4 года назад +1

    At about 7:00, you can disambiguate where the 1 goes by asking if you put it in the lone cell sticking into the Top Center box, where are you going to put it in the Top Right box? There won't be any legal positions and so you know it can't go in that cell.

  • @Darkness3827
    @Darkness3827 4 года назад +8

    One really cool thing that unfortunately you missed with the bottom right T shape was that the square inside the bottom central box couldn't be a 6. There were 3 adjacent squares all in the same box and an 8 already in the box so there was not enough numbers left greater than 6. Thus it had to be a 4. Still a really good solve.

    I really like this style, but... I had to restart like 4 times, and then gave into help. My time says 31:49, but it easily took me 2 hours more than that. Not sure why I kept missing things with this one. Would love another try at one like this.

    I'm a bit surprised u used the top right 6 as an example to explain the orthogonally rule. And then didn't pencil mark them in imediately. Looking at the video, I realized I placed a 2 somewhere where it didn't need to go and got a couple of my grey square digits mixed up, so no biggy, but I still claim defeat. Was an absolutely gorgeous puzzle (ok these guys are rubbing off on me); I actually got giddy when I found a 1 because there was no other place to put it in the column without it being next to a grey square xD

    52:12 - Great puzzle..

  • @JuanMataCFC
    @JuanMataCFC 4 года назад

    i used a slightly different logic to find out the 5 digits in the T-shape. i ruled out R5C2 & R5C3 from being 2's because they were next to a T-square in a box already containing a 1. so 2 had to be in one of R4C3 or R6C2 in the left-middle box. putting a 2 in R6C2 would leave nowhere to put a 2 in the T-shape above it, so i reasoned that R4C3 had to be a 2.
    from there it was straightforward to find that the last remaining digit in the T-shape was a 4.

    It's a tough puzzle to get started in, at least for me. But I think that if Simon watches this video a second time, he'll notice several times after the 18-minute mark when numbers could have been filled in much sooner than they were. The four's in the three boxes on the left could have been filled in at 20:20 (if not sooner). But I say that just because it gave me an excuse to write "2020". 😊 There were a few other examples like that though. Hard to say how much faster it could have been solved. Possibly a minute or two.
