Exactly, it's one of the reasons I stopped playing. Way too many people treating Village Cricket like a deciding Ashes test. Don't take it too serious and expect to have the piss taken out of you for doing something like this lad did.
This was absolutely hilarious though, wasn't just an ordinary lbw or nick behind. If it was an normal wicket, then it wouldnt have been an unwarranted reaction, but they all seem to be mates and if you can't see the funny side in something like that as a batsman, you're taking it too seriously. As it happened, he took it like a hero

I'm a Brit who taught English in a non-cricket-playing EU country. A native expressed an opinion about cricket being for snobs and pansies. It was just something he'd heard. The following week I took a cricket ball with me, gave it to him so he could get a feel, and then challenged him to try and catch it when I threw it at him. He chickened out. If he'd had a giant leather glove like a softy baseball player he could've just waved his hand somewhere in the general area of the ball trajectory at no risk to his soft white girly flesh. Baseball, now that's a sport for wusses and sissies.
