OK, take a moment to think that Marko is singing this floating vocal line all the while playing the bass to add his contribution to that percussive element. He has to have two parts of his brain going at different tempos. He doesn't back off playing the bass while singing. Watch his fingers.
Everyone of the band are so ridiculously talented...with feel and technicality. Only came to night wish 2 years ago. Still haven't heard a track that doesn't contain a moment of genius,. Troy's acoustic work with floor is amazing too.
She has the stage presence and charisma that Freddie Mercury did, and he was phenomenal, and so captivating, he pulled you right in and made you part of the journey. They both have that special quality which can reach inside and touch people - to be able to flood every fibre of your being with intensity of the experience. It's magnificent. I believe she said she would like to have done a duet with him, correct me if I'm wrong. I also notice that she puts her arm up with fist in the air as he did, and some of her power standing positions are similar. I do not wish take away anything original that Floor does though. She is an incredibly gifted person on so many levels. I think it would be an out-of-this-world experience if Nightwish and Queen (with Adam Lambert), did something together :)
I think you’d enjoy Floor’s rendition of Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort on Beste Zangers. Spoiler: You’re going to be upset at how easily she delivers the most difficult song in musical theatre 🎭
If you want to hear Floor sing opera, listen to her performances of "O mio babbino caro" and "Vilja Lied". Also the ending of Shoemaker - the whole song is superb.

This is the first song on the first Nightwish record. Floor was not feeling well on the night of this performance. I love the ending of the chorus. Floor and Marko holding out those harmonies as the music changes from double time back to straight time. So dramatic and epic. A total release and climactic amen moment. This song is full of the fantasy vibe. Now for some shameless promotion for my favorite band. See below. I don't know if someone said it, but during Buenos Aires concert I remember hearing she was still a bit sick, almost recovered from cold. I know few reactors who mentioned they noticed her straining her voice a bit occasionally in some songs from this concert due to it.
And that's why she's THE godess. The valkyrean queen , the dutch dynamo. So many singers only one Floor. We have only 2 types of music: the music Floor can sing and the other , well , the other wasn't created yet. Greetings from Portugal.

Nice reaction, the Argentinian crowd is super engaged, the next song in this show was I Want My Tears Back where they all start jumping around 🤘 Best crowd i've seen. Floor describes herself as a vocal nerd. She can do it all. And it helps if you are build like a competitive swimmer, with a big oral cavity.
"She should be singing Wagner and she can do that and make those sounds exclusively...". Yes, in fact she can. Try "Vilja Lied" from Beste Zangers TV program or "Sancta Terra" from Epica, in with she is a guest artist.
NW has so many great songs - but special picked for your taste , Do Nightwish - Dead Boy's poem - Live in Buenos Aires 2018. You wil be amazed I promise, and in the end og the song Floor will belt your eyes out! :-)
As far as we know, she was! In some of the slower songs in the latter half of the concert, she paced herself (Deep Silent Complete, The Carpenter, etc.). I guess it also messed with her concentration because if you listen to The Greatest Show on Earth in Buenos Aires 2018, she jumbles her words in the first 'the tapestry of chemistry' :D

I also found it interesting that, if you listen to her sing Ghost Love Score in the Vehicle of Spirit performances (Wembley and Tampere) and in Buenos Aires (Decades), she especially sings the last chorus very similar to the original. Instead of belting it from the chest like in Wacken, she goes head voice like Tarja, and even pauses at the right timings as the original. IDK, I just found it interesting that Floor constantly experiments and tests the bounds of her voice even when she's sick. If I were in her place, I'd just sing it the way I'm used to and not bother doing any additional runs cause I know I'd be tired XD
Oh, there are such beautifull compositions written by Tuomas. Last of the Wilds, Greatest show on earth, I personally love Edema Ruh because of the tiny sounds (gypsy like sounds..violins etc) in it...... I loved Queen, Pink Floyd but Nightwish is the best I ever discovered in my almost 60 years.
When they did "How's the heart" acoustic version (Planet Rock) they also recorded "Nemo" in the same setup (Floor/Troy), you'll enjoy it for sure. Nightwish rabbit hole is way deep but you can go with "Storytime" (Wacken 2013), "Dead boy's poem" (Buenos Aires 2018), "I want my tears back" (both Wacken and Buenos Aires versions are good but BA is the most fun, and keep an eye and how she dances while singing like she does). Also, "Vilja Lied" from Floor in Beste Zangers is epic, specially because is her first appearance in the show and the other guys didn't seem to know anything about her. Floor was Really sick 2 days before this concert. By the end shecwas wore out. You should react to her singing O Mio Bambino Cara with just herself and piano with subs or thevone she does with her band Revamp . The crowd is quiet except for a couple of people.

Great comment about mimicking percussion. Even when singing along, I keep drumming with my teeth and playing guitar with my tongue when listening to music. I cannot stop it. Sometimes my mouth starts hurting from it. When not listening to music, most people probably hum or sing when they have a tune in their head. I often will mimick the whole sound...anyone? Honestly afraid that this will wreck my mouth one day. Then again, maybe it keeps it fit. Not a singer or anything, just a listener.
Love your description of the vocals flying like a dragon over the battle raging below. I would love to hear Floor do Wagner. That would be amazing! This is a great song. Floor is amazing. Love it my friend. Peace.
Odd as it may sound to someone who hears this song for the first time, I consider this performance a bad one. I do consider Floor to be the best singer in the world but this is one song that I think only Tarja can perform properly.
Tarja with her sound was somewhat “above” the rest of instruments, while Floor blends in. Plus her recovery from illness didn’t make her good :( I am longtime diehard Floor’s fan, but I agree that Tarja sounded better on many of NW earlier material (especially DBP and Sleeping Sun, the latter I just can’t listen to in Floor’s rendition). For me it’s not even about technicality, it’s about their voices’ qualities and “vibes”.
This is actually the first time I've heard Floors version of Elvenpath. It's one of those early Nightwish songs along with Wishmaster I've always stuck with Tarja because of how signature it was for the era... I think I still prefer Tarjas, even if you understand less of what she says since she keeps it waaay up in the soprano :p

Ironic that you said you picture a dragon. This song is based on gods of nature in the D&D world of Faerun. Tuomas wrote a lot of their early songs based off of different stories in D&D.
It's great how confident the Floor is and how well it handles stress from full stadiums. Otherwise, overcrowding of your videos with ads is unbearable.

I wish she wasn’t sick during this recording. When I was listening to the concert for the first time, I thought straight away that Floor is either sick or very tired. If she wasn’t, I could enjoy the recording outside of couple of songs.

Great comment about mimicking percussion. Even when singing along, I keep drumming with my teeth and playing guitar with my tongue when listening to music. I cannot stop it. Sometimes my mouth starts hurting from it. When not listening to music, most people probably hum or sing when they have a tune in their head. I often will mimick the whole sound...anyone?
Honestly afraid that this will wreck my mouth one day. Then again, maybe it keeps it fit. Not a singer or anything, just a listener.

Odd as it may sound to someone who hears this song for the first time, I consider this performance a bad one. I do consider Floor to be the best singer in the world but this is one song that I think only Tarja can perform properly.
I feel that way about most of the songs on their first three albums.
Tarja with her sound was somewhat “above” the rest of instruments, while Floor blends in. Plus her recovery from illness didn’t make her good :( I am longtime diehard Floor’s fan, but I agree that Tarja sounded better on many of NW earlier material (especially DBP and Sleeping Sun, the latter I just can’t listen to in Floor’s rendition). For me it’s not even about technicality, it’s about their voices’ qualities and “vibes”.
The songs were written with Tarja's voice in mind, so yeah, I agree.

This is actually the first time I've heard Floors version of Elvenpath. It's one of those early Nightwish songs along with Wishmaster I've always stuck with Tarja because of how signature it was for the era... I think I still prefer Tarjas, even if you understand less of what she says since she keeps it waaay up in the soprano :p

Ironic that you said you picture a dragon. This song is based on gods of nature in the D&D world of Faerun. Tuomas wrote a lot of their early songs based off of different stories in D&D.

I wish she wasn’t sick during this recording. When I was listening to the concert for the first time, I thought straight away that Floor is either sick or very tired. If she wasn’t, I could enjoy the recording outside of couple of songs.
