This band doesn't even cancel a show when their singer is gone for good. I'm hinting at the day that Anette was hospitalized just hours before the beginning of their show in Denver 2012, when the crowd was already entering the area. What followed was something I have never seen or heard of before, at least not with a professional band that is pretty much above any other band of their genre: something that was on the one hand the most iconic karaoke show ever, on the other hand appeared stressfull and desperate. And the people there had experienced the probably most unique Nightwish concert ever, and I bet my ass it will never be repeated. On youtube it is known as 'Nightwish - The Denver Debacle (2012). For those who are interested, it's a mix of their 'behind the scenes' of this concert (which is part of a DVD) and some fan made live videos. Here the link: ruclips.net/video/zH33rNy33iU/видео.html
saw them make it up at the Ogden here is Denver a couple of years ago.........just second to actually being at the 2012 show. They even said that it didn't matter how inconvenient it was, they were always coming back to that place. Magical!!
@@drewambler1235 I was at that concert (when Annette got sick and Elize stepped in). It was still quite good and oddly felt special. I missed seeing them when they came back with Floor! Hopefully in the future I can see her!
That was the most awkwardly amazing show I ever watched - the fact that they had the guts to attempt something like that (Nightwish on one hand and Elize and Alissa on the other hand) is really a testament to their dedication to the audience and their showmanship. In one sense, this was the truest form of a live performance you could ever get - they were giving each other nudges and queues, adding a bar here and removing one there to adjust to what the singer was doing. Elize really did her best and her improv was cool (especially with the tap-dancing on the intro to Over the Hills). Against all odds, they never disappoint. Hats off to the NW gang, all the best to Marco and I hope I get to see them again live soon :)
if i remember correctly from the 48 hour documentary, Annette didn't take it too kindly when the band decided to do the concert without her. yeah, it sucks that your too sick to perform but this was situation where I believe they had to put their supporters/fans above her.
Elvenjig was a bonus jamjig they did for the Decades tour, it is not including with the Elvenpath original song sung by Tarja. Tuomas did a dive into Tolkien, Disney and a little Finnish folklore :)

I was on Decades Tour concert in my country and managed to not check the setlist in my curiosity. I still remember my confusion when Elvenjig has started. But also that feeling of joy when I heard Elvenpath, which is nearly as old as the band itself.
I swear to God - i have been listening to Elvenpath for the best part of the last 20 years and I have NOT picked up on those little notes... Incredible job, Chase. Truly amazing how you have such an ear for Nightwish
Just Chase doing Chase things !!😎 Floor on her worst days are much better than most on their best. As a life long singer/musician I really enjoy your reactions!!
The first song I ever heard with Nightwish. My father introduced me to it in 1998, after some of his students showed him this, and I was already a tiny LOTR nerd who loved soprano singers. It was magical, and started an epic musical journey that was only gonna get better. When I first heard this version I was blown away. I've been a Floor fan since the After Forever days, and how she handles the old songs of Nightwish just flabbergast me completely.
Relating to your comment about professionalism etc., I think that is why the Buenos Aires 2018 version of GLS is so dear to me -- you can tell Floor isn't 100% (recovered more than Bogota but still recovering) but she commits with her whole self and the ending is that much sweeter for it. I really recommend you check it out!
Yes she really struggled at the start of GLS at Buenos Aires but after the first line or two threw herself into it and slayed for the floorgasm at the end.
Also, Bogotá is a very difficult venue. We are almost at 2.630 meters over sea level, so the atmospheric pressure is relatively high. And If you are feeling sick, well, it was not easy for her.
I know I'm late to this party. But with this initially being a Tarja song on elven path, it was made for a higher register on vocals. So with Floor being less than 100 at this show, the duet chorus with Marco feels to help Floor. I say this cause I've heard that song live on the decades tour and she does not spend that much time in a lower register in that song. Still loving it though
I was at this show, and she freaking NAILED IT. Watch Ghost Love Score from this show, she nails the note and she can't believe she actually did it. It warms my heart. She's so invested.
A bit of 'Thread-Necromancy' but what the hell. Great, insightful, reaction as always. Hearing Elvenjig just confirms the fact that I would pay good money just to hear this band jamming, unplugged, in a bar somewhere.
Hello Chase, first of all: What a wonderful reaction to this breathtaking presentation of the best band on earth, Nightwish. There is a lot to tell how I felt and what thoughts ran through my mind while watching. Like you I never mind criticism on Nightwish music because it is always the greatest pleasure for me to spend this worthy time of my life listening to the beauty of their music. The performance's beginning was awesome, developping from soft play to one of the strongest presentations I have ever seen. Kai on the drums, Marko and Empuu with their guitarplay, Tuomas' fingers mastering the keyboard, Troy playing flute and the uillean pipes. When Floor added her vocals, the musical race was completely on the run. Gorgeous!!! While watching I often had goose bumps and felt happiness, fascination and adorement. I smiled a lot and my whole body moved in unison with sound and rhythm. By the way I'm a woman of 65 years and one of the biggest Nightwish fans on earth because of their unique compositions and their playing TOGETHER, that means their supporting one another that often makes me breathless. Despite her health problem Floor delivered a perfect presentation. My deep respect. Additionally, your comments are of high qualitaty and I love them most. I'm always looking forward to your next reaction. Thumbs up and thank you so much. ;)

Originally I heard the name Elvenpath and thought to myself, "Isnt that song VERY early Nightwish?" Turns out it's the first song from their first studio album. Seems about as early Nightwish as we're likely to get. Also, PLEASE YES on Master Passion Greed. That is probably my favorite piece featuring Marco's singing (close second to Dead to the World). I don't believe there's a live version, but there's a lot to unpack musically. Also it's another song born from the Poet and the Pendulum saga that we've explored a little bit on this channel.
Great reaction as always! 😁 I hadn't seen or heard this one before so this was fun. I didn't expect to hear quotes from the Lord of the Rings in this but hey, you never know when it comes to Nightwish. hehe... I think it was Rob Ingles reading of the Fellowship of the Rings we heard in the song. 😍
I stopped listen to Nightwish when Tarja parted, not that I thought anything bad about Anette, but just life went on (I did continue to listen to the old songs). I'm recently come back, and Chases, Julias, Charismatic Voice, TankTheTechs, Key of Geebz and some more reaction, reflection and explaining different aspects very much improves my own journey back into this band. So thank you Chase! And ofc, Chace/Julia crossover is da bomb!
Marco conquered the throne of Masked Singer Finland tonight, but not by songs of his usual genre: just shows of the man's unmatched versatility of style, tone and skill.
The Elvenjig is like jazz intro turning to a folk song. And it's like Emppu now plays the base part with the low tones of his guitar (low tones a but like some old horn?), and Marco plays the guitar now - they swapped for that part. And Tuomas is just all smiles :) Guess it's the audience getting so excited..
What Kai is playing in Elvenjig is an emulation of what would be played on a bodhrán in Irish music. And I'd love to see Elvenjig leading in to I want my tears back instead.
Chase: go ahead count the pauses. Me: ok lemme pause and ggo back to make sure I didnt miss any. #pausecounters elvenjig 5 elvenpath 7 total 12. As always love the reactions Chase! Also love seeing Nightwish review when Floor "isn't feeling well." Even on a night when shes sick she knocks it out of the damn stadium! Have a damn good day sir!
Elvenjig was the closest I have seen Nightwish doing some jamming. These two together are starting to become some of my favorites. I can't imagine being able to sing so well even when under the weather. Great reaction as always, Claudie52 out and take care.
Great reaction as always Chase. Wish you a damn good X-mas. I think Julia needs some time to recover from Floor's growling. Some remarks on Floor not being a her best this show and recovering from a kind of flu. This show was Oct 4th, Buenos Aires show was Sep 30th. When she was already recovering in BA then she would be at least a bit better 4 days later. Even if they did a show in Chili's capital Oct 2nd. This small tour started Sep 28th in Sao Paulo and ended Oct 7th in Mexico City according to setlist.fm which gives setlists (and venues) for all kinds of bands. I get the impression that most comments on this matter imply that Bogota was earlier than BA, when in fact it's the other way around. Anyway I wish all Nightwish fans the best for X-mas and the new year.
In the beginning, let's not forget the buildup and dynamics Kai is bringing on his kit. I was thinking his kicks were powerful like little bombs going off.
first time i hear this live and i think this is best version about this song. great fanfare dance and happy music. thanx to great react and have great day and soon christmas week.
DAMN you're fast !!! ...I thought for sure Tank would do it first ..its right down his alley ...im going to watch your reaction now ..lets see the Chase perspective ..
Elvenjig. I Love (capital L) how it's obviously rehearsed and so well put together, but it feels like they're just jamming, having a good time. The spirit of it is so free.
Chase, I really can't praise your musical breakdowns enough... I just *try* to listen to the sounds behind the music, and vice versa. You bring out all the details many of us couldn't even imagine could be there. One thing I have to praise about your channel and you: RUclips, especially when clicking something new, makes me fear for my hearing, or of the neighbours', if I'm not on headphones. And what's worse, you can't even depend on the levels being constant on one RUclipsr channel. Well, as you probably know, your channel is perfect . The intro music doesn't send anything through the walls, we hear the music we are listening to perfectly, and then your speech kicks in at the same level, or just below. Thank you thank you thank you for this, too!
I respect you a lot, Chase! Your comments do really add so much! Ignore those who are negative. I learned today, thanks to you, Floor tells stories and that's so worthy...! Stay safe and a wonderful 2021! Sorry for my ugly English writing, I'm Dutch 😅.
Agree with you, think you picked a good one to react to. I like your thinking and no matter how good you are no one can be 100% perfect every time out. A pro makes due with what they have that day and the show goes on. Thanks for your reaction.
You could check out High hopes with Marco where he was sick and Jukka had a bad migraine. The last concert with Tarja too.. besides a truly gorgeous tribute to Pink Floyd (my favorite)
Nice reaction and analysis of what the music is doing. I have just watched Julia reacting to Yours Is An Empty Hope which stunned her! I aso mentioned to her that Nightwish announced the other day that they will be doing two virtual shows online on 12th and 13th March 2021, where they will be performing songs from Human :II: Nature among other songs. Both dates will have different setlists and tickets are available from their website. I've already booked mine for both dates (along with the T-Shirt offer)! Stay safe!
Elvenpath was the first Power Metal song composed by Toumas, complete with fast double-bass drumming in the chorus, fantasy-themed lyrics and everything. This song first appeared on the standard edition (the first and previous edition being a 500 ex limited pressing) of their debut album Angels Fall First. They had no formulas at that time, just wildly trying shit out to see what sticks. The first edition was more of a demo, and for the standard edition, two songs were removed and replaced with three new songs: Elvenpath, Beauty And the Beast, and Tutankhamen. The lyrics of the song takes a lot of elements from the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, and the spoken words are taken from the Ralph Bakshi's 1978 animated The Lord of the Rings, which of course at the time of the album was the only movie adaptation of the triology.
Missed the premiere, but I have to say I loved this reaction as well! I hope you take your time to listen to a version where she is at full capacity, so you notice how "safe" she sings it here. That being said, Floor singing "safe" is still fantastic :P
Hi Chase I loved you reaction. Merry Christmas. Floor had a head cold. Julia started watching Yours is an Empty Hope on the cruise but the strobe light was bothering her so she switched to Wembley. You should have seen the look on her face when Floor started growling.
Didn't get to watch the premiere, which if you are new here, are FIRE and you should try to make them. Best fanbase around. We got a Julia appearance in the chat, we got an EV-1 mention (!) on a Chase video, and we got the always fun and interesting brainy ginger vampire insights. GD, I always say it, but y'all, seriously, thumbs up for Chase!
Thank you very much, Chase, for reacting to Elvenpath as that was probably the first song I heard from Nightwish. It might also have been Deep Silent Complete, but I am not sure about it (many years ago). But I remember that I found that additional spoken word part in the beginning to be a really nice touch. There are two other things which I would like to mention here. 1) Epica released an acoustic version for Abyss of Time - search for: EPICA - Abyss O'Time (OFFICIAL ACOUSTIC VIDEO) - and they used an accordion within it. I think there is no need to react to it, but it is really sweet. 2) What would be really great, if you could react to it, is a new project featuring Marcela Bovio. Marcela was a backing vocalist for Floor Jansen on the second album of Floor´s previous band ReVamp and for Anneke van Giersbergen in Gentle Storm (a project by Arjen Lucassen). She is also a backing vocalist for Arjen Lucassen´s Ayreon. And for Simone Simons in Epica. She was the lead vocalist in another Arjen Lucassen´s band called Stream of Passion. She is also one of the "lead" vocalists in MaYaN. This project is called Dark Horse White Horse and Marcela started it with guitarist Jord Otto and keyboardist Ruben Wijga, who were both members of ReVamp. Ruben is now in a band called Blackbriar. Jord was in Anneke van Giersbergen´s band Vuur for a while and is a first cousin to Charlotte Wessels from Delain. The guest drummer for the upcoming EP is Arien from Epica and the guest bassist is Siebe Sol. It is produced by good old Joost van der Broek. They released two singles: "Dark Horse White Horse - Black hole" and "Dark Horse White Horse - Judgement Day (lyric video)" which are together only 8 minutes long. Please, consider it. :-)
I love all these interactions between the North Europe Metal Bands, it's a little world, but all of them looks to enjoy these cooperations. Have to listen to this Marcela's project, she has an amazing voice, really happy she can get the spotlight she deserves as a lead singer.
@@Fabi72g It is my belief that this project is Marcela´s creative outlet for the time being. I mean she is a teacher and works with Ayreon, MaYaN and Epica, but in those bands she is not exactly engaged in the creative process. But this may be different.
Even when Floor can only perform at 75% because she is ill and relatively low on energy, she is still singing everybody out of the park. People may not realize how much power and energy she normally puts in every song when she is blasting at 100%. A deep bow to her. To my opinion, when she is 100% healthy she dances a bit more and plays a bit more in lots of different movements and theatrical expressions to the crowd, that's the only detail i could notice. I think because she was a bit ill here, she very consciously put all the energy she had left into the singing, so the audience would not notice a loss of vocal quality in the total performance. These people are extreme professionals. Nice analysis Chase, as usual. Keep up the good work!
I love Saturday night, thank you Chase for what you are doing. It’s wonderful. Ya I’m a Nighwish foot Solider but I do also love lots of the other bands that you give your time to. You are the Toumas of reactions , thank you so much 👌👍😎🤘
I enjoy physiological and highly emotional gymnastic gesticulations as much as anyone (provided they are genuine-strong shoutout to mr. rock and roll), but the insight and professionalism of your reactions are far more valuable and aid in the deeper appreciation of Nightwish. You are a treasure, along with Tank and Julia, a triumvirate of reactions that encompasses all aspects of their music. You are...formidable!
Thanks Chase!!! This is such a fun one 😁 I really hope you’ll get to Last Ride of the Day from Waken soon 😉 Have a fantastic day and a very merry Christmas 🎄🤘😎🎸
And this is what Floor is 'only' capable of reaching when she's sick. To an amateur like me there's no flaws there. Just seems a bit strained, as if not having as fun as usually. But that could also be just the story being kinda wistful, there's the seriousness of longing, or it could just be the lights bothering her eyes. Kudis for those who notice something in her voice - I only see something stiff in the body language, a bit, when now on the 2nd time concentrating on it - having heard she was struggling.
Elvenpath was the very first song I ever heard by Nightwish, back in 1997. Then I bought Oceanborn when that album was released. The rest is history so to speak😉

And Tuomas is just all smiles :) Guess it's the audience getting so excited..
What Kai is playing in Elvenjig is an emulation of what would be played on a bodhrán in Irish music. And I'd love to see Elvenjig leading in to I want my tears back instead.
And Troy is playing a mish mash of Irish tin whistle folk songs before going to the pipes
😂 Loving your energy ⚡ ⚡ ⚡ in this reaction @Chase Carneson!
Yes!!!! ⏸️🙋🏼♂️👌
Have you heard of their virtual concert in March 2021? Knowing them it's gonna be even better than some of the virtual concerts I've seen this year.
I had to adapt with your comments Chase. But it makes perfectly sense. You love music and that shows. Keep it up!
It's so great to see how much fun you have :)
😊 thank you
In the beginning, let's not forget the buildup and dynamics Kai is bringing on his kit. I was thinking his kicks were powerful like little bombs going off.
We didn't forget. It was awesome
Another brilliant music lesson from Chase. First time seeing this performance too.
🙏🙏🙏
first time i hear this live and i think this is best version about this song. great fanfare dance and happy music. thanx to great react and have great day and soon christmas week.
Thank you Chase once again, Merry Christmas to you and your love ones.
Merry Christmas! 🙏🙏🙏
One of the first Nightwish songs I heard back in the day. Still remains one of my favourites!
Amazing reaction! 👏 Amazing video!- What a performance 😍
DAMN you're fast !!! ...I thought for sure Tank would do it first ..its right down his alley ...im going to watch your reaction now ..lets see the Chase perspective ..
just seeing the joy on their faces, makes this such a great performance! They love doing what they do!!
We ARE Here!! First time chatting live with you, Chase, and assorted NW Army members! Hi from WI!
First time hearing this for me... minute and a half and I'm already squirming in my seat with anticipation. I love this band.
Just love that you u don't miss a thing.
..and yeah Julia...😉
Oh I miss loads I'm sure, but i do my best.
I love to see how your face cracks in pure joy when Toumas is able to suprise you ;)
Elvenjig. I Love (capital L) how it's obviously rehearsed and so well put together, but it feels like they're just jamming, having a good time. The spirit of it is so free.
Nice reaction! Really looking forward to you doing Stargazers from Tampere. It's an older song and so fantastic!
Beautiful music and great reaction!
Agree with you, think you picked a good one to react to. I like your thinking and no matter how good you are no one can be 100% perfect every time out. A pro makes due with what they have that day and the show goes on. Thanks for your reaction.
Chase you are by far the Best reactor on the Web!!!🎉
That is beyond kind. Thank you so much for supporting and saying such a wonderful thing. Appreciate it 🙏🙏🙏
You could check out High hopes with Marco where he was sick and Jukka had a bad migraine. The last concert with Tarja too.. besides a truly gorgeous tribute to Pink Floyd (my favorite)
This is a great piece, specially the combination and the place in the concert. Brillant
Only fitting, as Tolkien was obsessed with Finland/Finns. 😄 So Tuomas pays him homage.
Just plain wonderful. Nightwish doing Nightwish dance things...WHAT!
hadn´t expected that you like "pretty and light", chase. have a damn good weekend and stay well and warm.
Missed the premiere, but I have to say I loved this reaction as well! I hope you take your time to listen to a version where she is at full capacity, so you notice how "safe" she sings it here. That being said, Floor singing "safe" is still fantastic :P
15 years ago this was song i would listen on repeat while walking alone in woods. This and "beauty and the beast" with Tarja sooo many years ago
Looking forward to this! 👍
Hi Chase I loved you reaction. Merry Christmas. Floor had a head cold. Julia started watching Yours is an Empty Hope on the cruise but the strobe light was bothering her so she switched to Wembley. You should have seen the look on her face when Floor started growling.
Can't get enough of Chase reacting to Nightwish.
Hope Beauty OF the Beast will be the next :)
At 9:09 you look flabbergasted Chase. That doesn't happen too often 😁
Love Marcela! Such an underappreciated vocalist.
@@T1hitsTheHighestNote She is great.
10:07 ROFL yup same! Your reactions learn me more about things i can not think about. Kiitos ja kippis :)
Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏
I love Saturday night, thank you Chase for what you are doing. It’s wonderful. Ya I’m a Nighwish foot Solider but I do also love lots of the other bands that you give your time to. You are the Toumas of reactions , thank you so much 👌👍😎🤘
🙏🙏🙏🙏 I really appreciate you.
Kais double kicks on the bass Drum. 🤗Awesome and Floor, she is only the QUEEN..👍
"Hang on a second" 😄❤ miss these reactions
🙋♂️🙏
Парень написал эту музыку в 17 лет. Ничего сверхъестественного, но как же цепляет. До сих пор.
A great song, awsome music. Everything
When I licked on the original video for the 1st time i thought they were doing very coheriant and melodic sound check :D
For this, I love Saturday even more. Shout out Chase on Saturday. THIS!!! Now I know it's gonna be a damn good day.
Thanks Chase!!! This is such a fun one 😁
I really hope you’ll get to Last Ride of the Day from Waken soon 😉
Have a fantastic day and a very merry Christmas 🎄🤘😎🎸
Just fantastic again...
You AND Julia uploaded nightwish on the same day???
This is a good Saturday morning tea session about to begin! 😍
Love your comments Chase! Tnx
@Chase Carneson
They don't play this regulary. They played this first time since 2004 on the decades tour, starting in 2018.
Yeees! Master passion greed next!🤘
My favourite Marco song!
Yay! One of my favorite ginger vampires! My husband is one of them too 😆
Bloody brilliant
And this is what Floor is 'only' capable of reaching when she's sick. To an amateur like me there's no flaws there. Just seems a bit strained, as if not having as fun as usually. But that could also be just the story being kinda wistful, there's the seriousness of longing, or it could just be the lights bothering her eyes. Kudis for those who notice something in her voice - I only see something stiff in the body language, a bit, when now on the 2nd time concentrating on it - having heard she was struggling.
Only at the beginning but just want to say I love your reasoning for chosing this version.
"Have a damn good day"
"No."
😂
Elvenpath was the very first song I ever heard by Nightwish, back in 1997. Then I bought Oceanborn when that album was released. The rest is history so to speak😉
Poorly Floor is still so much better than almost anyone else. Queen! ♥️
Top effort again fella 👌 👍 🤘
I am a simple man. Every time I see tin whistler I smile.
Thanks, again, excellent
🙏🙏🙏
Your right a fan loves the band treu thick and thin
