The continuance of the 'Palestinian Refugees' narrative belies the fact that the so-called Palestine Region has had more money pumped into it over the decades than The Marshall Plan pumped into the re-construction of Europe after The Second World War.
Monies from across the world.........though largely, (yet again), from the United States...........which has been siphoned off into overseas bank accounts by corrupt so-called Leaders of Palestine.
Yet still, decades after Yassar Arafat........the progressives and the lefties still continue to call these people 'Refugees'....

Indeed. I don’t generally share Matt’s position on many issues, but that point by the others is one that makes my blood boil. Not because it’s ‘soft’, but because it’s actually stupid. Set aside why the parents and children are separated in the first place… They’re painting a scenario where children in Gaza were supposedly that a child and parents were seemingly ok living separately prior to Oct 7, and didn’t need to “be with mummy and daddy”.
I understand the desire to help and show care, but it’s frustrating that so many do that as a substitute for actually thinking.

Britain does have a colonial responsibility, just not in Gaza. And I’m not talking about reparations BS from Indian and African folks. I’m talking about how they mishandled HOW they give up colonies in a way that ruined them. Giving up a city that mostly want to stay under British control, to a Nuclear armed Communist dictatorship (China) is Britain’s mistake. Under an agreement in 1984, Britain also has a responsibility to maintain/ restore democracy and the rest of the terms, and will intervene if they are breached. China clearly breached it countless times, and UK just brushed aside the issue. No major Tariffs on China, no royal army near the South China Sea.

Britain handed back control of Hong Kong because it had to. HK was leased from China for 99 years. The lease expired, HK had to be returned to China. It did what it could to secure rights and freedoms for the people of HK after its return to China and ideally would hold China to account for breaking those agreements. But there is idealism and then there is realpolitik. Britain is in no position to hold China to account, certainly not to start sabre rattling in the South China Sea. And none of our allies would support us in such a venture either.
With regard to how it gave up colonies;- by and large it did the best job of any former colonial power. The end of any empire is not and never has been perfect but the world is not and never has been perfect. From The West Indies to Malta to India, Britain handed over rule to stable, democratic governments.
But on Israel - which is the point in question here - the land was never a British colony in any sense of the word. Control of the land had been in the hands of Turkey for centuries until its empire collapsed post WW1.
Turkey left behind nothing even approaching the normal, practical, working institutions of governmental administration needed for its former colonies to do anything other than collapse into mayhem. The world, in the form of the League Of Nations, decided that its former empire should be administered by other countries for a strictly limited period in order to prepare them for self rule.
Britain did its best. In effect, Britain was handed a poisoned chalice in the form of Mandate Palestine but it never the less picked up what it believed to be its moral obligation to help make the world a better place after WW1. With hindsight and by applying today's morals and values onto those who did not and could not hold them (which would be absurd) it could, perhaps, have done better, though perhaps not.
Post WW2, Mandate Palestine became a shit show so responsibility for the decisions for its future were taken up by the successor to the League of Nations in the for of the UN. The division of the land, the creation of the state of Israel were decided upon by the UN, not Britain. Britain carried no "former colonial responsibility" as it did with, say, India. Israel was never a British colony. It is a disingenuous tactic of the Islamo-fascist/Leftist alliance to pretend Mandate Palestine was a British colony. It falsely attributes responsibility for today's situation in and around Israel to Britain. It is part of a broader attempt to demoralise us and make us ashamed of our past.

Jordan has Palestinians because Westbank was a part of Jordan's land.
