GB News ought to do some sort of programming that interacts with viewers and the public about what it means to be British. Also, what it means to be from England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, and how those identities complement each other as part of the Union. The idea would be to reinvigorate and celebrate British values and nostalgia. Someone has to inform new generations about what our great nation really stands for and how incredible it can be if we unite rather than squabble. Without a unified nation, the notion of citizenship dies, and with that democracy. Citizenship can only survive if a majority of citizens are willing to sacrifice to varying degrees their private wants and needs for the greater cause of the nation/society by doing their bit to maintain it. If people are not willing to do this, society is dead and it becomes a free for all - which we are seeing now in effect.
It's not up to GB News to attempt a unifying national agenda as it presently is one of the most divisive media, with hosts like Farage who thrive in the culture war. The problem with British values is that they have been branded as woke and rejected by a section of the population who feed on negativity and spite for those seen as "the others". The right-wing identity is one of hostile individualism and denies British values like honesty (telling the truth), solidarity and generosity. We are in a time where the notion of citizenship is being trampled over with a narrative that makes people feel powerless and they are driven to blame the wrong culprits. The division is caused by the economic elite who hog access to top education and employment. There is a socio-economic gap in which the rich call all the shots and ordinary people are led to feed resentment. This is dangerous as Gary Lineker warned.
@@luisbustamante9869 Isn't Lineker one such elite? He surely cannot fathom the strain on society of what is going on in terms of mass illegal immigration. Brexit did not really happen where it mattered and the 2019 election was just a lot of broken promises so nothing has happened and as we can all see it has just got worse. Question - why is the government so happy to waste money on migration and illegal immigration and not look after the British people. What will the country look like in the future with this continuous open boarder policy of cheap imported labour so the wages are kept as low as possible, with everything else going up and the pretence that if you can get a minimum wage job - so called living wage your be ok, just being on the breadline, and not even considering the cost of renting, which seems not to come under the living wage. Will it revert back to the old days like the 60s when married people would be renting just a room in a house and share a bathroom and if lucky have a cooker on the landing and waiting on a very long housing list to get a actual place to live.
