As a 75 year old Scot, I remember Jimmy Greaves with fondness, and okay, he wasn't perfect, but who is, all I know is Jimmy Greaves was a magnificent footballer, one of the best this country has ever seen, and in life, despite his faults, he was a lovely man, and a thoroughly decent human being, and that's good enough for me ! 😢💔🙏🏴
Jimmy was my boyhood hero when I played football for my school I tried to play like Jimmy,he maybe gone but he’s still my football hero RIP JIMMY YOU NEVER LET ME DOWN
Whos this man talking about the greatest goal scorer of all time bar none never be another like him 45 goals in54 games for England how many goals would be have score of he had played 100 games like some of these other so called strikers his average will never be beaten
As a wee boy living in a Glasgow housing scheme Jimmy Greaves was a god to me , I tried to play like him, mom bought me a white football top ( replica strips were still a dream ) and I would make a number eight out of black tape and stick it on to the back of it just so as I could look more like my hero - Jimmy Greaves .
Amazing footballer. My childhood hero as well. Living in Northern Ireland the English league was a great distraction from the mayhem the of the” troubles” in the 70S especially for many young lads . Spurs were and still are my team and I’ve still great memories of Jimmy gliding gloriously across White Hart Lane and some of the goals he scored .In Oct 1984 on my honeymoon I went to the Lane for the first time with my new wife and met Glenn Hoddle and Ray Clements. Great atmosphere as they entertained Liverpool but unfortunately lost 0-1 that day .I really would’ve loved to have met Jimmy as he was just special. Still a Spurs man through and through and my wife and I still remember with fondness those great days.
I was a teenager of the 70’s and a gang of us would play in a wire fenced tarmacked area we called ‘The Wreck’. Sawyers Close Windsor. You wouldn’t believe the great players that played there, each of us were our favourite idol; a lad called Mark Abbot who supported Tottenham was Jimmy Greaves and on scoring would shout “Jimmy Greaves !!!” I was George Best by the way. Memories of times and stars who have sadly passed away when the final whistle blew - but will aways live on in the memories of those young lads who are now in their 60’s getting close or even in their 70’s. R.I.P. JIMMY GREAVES One of the all time GREATS OF BRITISH FOOTBALL 🙏👍 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
What a great player and man he was. There are hundreds if not thousands of players that are like him,but haven’t got the courage to admit they’ve got problems.
My wife was fortunate enough to do some work for Mr Greaves, she thought he was a lovely man. When she mentioned I was a Spurs fan he immediately wrote me a short note and finished it simply with. All the best, Jimmy.
Yep and his wife stayed with him. The bull that is spread after a hero has passed is incredible. If you ever get to see saint and greeves he has fond memories of where he started his married life.
Greaves was a total genius it wouldn’t have mattered what era jimmy played in he would still have scored a barrel load of goals Geoff hurst was a cracking player but not in the same league as jimmy greaves rip jimmy ❤
Jimmy on the pitch was great. Even that final season at West Ham had it's moments. I think the problem was that he'd always hit the heights no matter what was going on elsewhere. Hardly the motivation to take a closer look at your diet/lifestyle. I often wonder what a 31 year old Jimmy could have done in the middle of the pitch. No doubt about it he quit too soon. RIP Mr Greaves.
Tim Rice wrote the lyrics " for someone on top of the world, the views not exactly clear." And to paraphrase the next line " Shame you did it all when so young" Rotton clickbait, not a word from his children 😳 He gave more people pleasure while playing football. Than most people do in a lifetime. RIP Guvnor ⚽🙏♥️♥️
If Jimmy had been fit for the final it wouldn’t have gone to extra time, w3 wouldn’t have been shown the goal that obviously wasn’t by Hurst, the game would have been put to bed by Jimmy in normal time.
A smashing football player and man and a great pundit remember the show Saint and Greavsie the wit and funny charm of greavsie and the professionalism of Ian St John that gelled
Why the bot voice over?! Sounds stupid! Nearly as bad as Dick Van Dyke! Jimmy Greaves was a brilliant striker! Brilliant and prolific! Scored on his debut for every team! A legend who deserves more respect than this! At Barnet he scored the best goal never filmed. Scoring a header defending his own corner. The ball going the entire length of the pitch! Amazing. RIP great man from a die hard Gooner!
Alf Ramsey made the right decision for the 1966 WC final. Yes it was tough on Jimmy but Geoff Hurst (who replaced him) was on fire in that match. It's too bad they couldn't have played alongside each other - what a final that would have been.
Jimmy never took penalties. Others like harry kane added to this record with a huge number.i wonder what Jimmy's record would be were he was the regular penalty taker.
Do yourself a favour and take this off, should be ashamed of yourself, don’t talk ill of the dead and leave this legend alone to let him rest in peace what he deserves! 😡
When I was around 7 I used to score 5-6 goals first half and my teacher mr heath Oates would swap me to the other side and I would score as many as I could to win or draw. I saw jimmy when I was 7 years old. My brother in law took me to watch Leicester city v spurs. I’ve been a spurs fan ever since. But jimmy was so special what a player. Drink is is the downfall of lots of men. If you can beat it your stronger than me.
These alcoholis as far as my observations go all have a good constitution to begin with, they’re strong and that allows them to get stuck in for years, decades and eventually it turns around and BITES!! Footballer, super fit and off you go, Best,Gasgoigne and many others
Contrary to what is said in this video, he did not get injured in the 1966 world cup. The reason he did not play was because the England Manager Alf Ramsey for some unknown reason decided not to select him preferring instead Roger Hunt and Alan Ball, which in my opinion was one of the greatest sporting travesties!
I’ve met him 3 times. Lovely, funny charming man. Extremely polite and great company. Oh and he was one of our greatest goalkeepers. I will not accept this nonsense.
What’s with the disgraceful clickbait graphic? You should be embarrassed at the cheap clickbait tactic…. Also the AI voice reading the script is cheap trash 😡😡😡🤬
This video is really the worst of the worst.......click bait to start with the lie 'his children now break their silence' when there is NOTHING about his children's 'views' offered......terrible repeated pasted out of sequence photos unrelated to the sequence of well known facts that could have been taken from a wiki page........what some leeches will do just to make a few bucks off an iconic footballer who deserves better....RIP Jim...
@Sport_Icons_WorldWide You have put up a title to this video that is both unfair & untrue re his children breaking their silence. Where are they in this video ?

He was just class what a player
It Sounds like gazza

Better than gazzer. He would walk the ball in to the net. Pure class
Even though I'm an Arsenal fan, always loved Jimmy Greaves. Easily one of England's all time greats.
When is his children going to break their silence as promised? These lying pieces should be banned, or prosecuted.
We all know about his battle against alcoholism. No secrets. Great man, and much loved!

I grew up in Fife, when me and my brothers played football, he being elder was Scotland and I was England and JIMMY GREAVES.❤️
Arise Sir Jimmy Greaves Legend of all Legends
The greatest player I sadly never saw playing. RIP sir Jim
This is a disgusting representation of one of England's best.
Tottenham Hotspur's best ever player!

If Jimmy was playing today the Bank of England couldn't afford him!
Pure gold.
Not doing the Greavesie Justice
My wife was fortunate enough to do some work for Mr Greaves, she thought he was a lovely man. When she mentioned I was a Spurs fan he immediately wrote me a short note and finished it simply with. All the best, Jimmy.
Seen him play a proper legend
Who was the proper legend he played ?

Great player. Am Portuguese and remember him well in the World Cup 1966. England won and Portugal was 3rd. Great striker.

I remember when I was a kid playing against his sons team and jimmy on the sidelines

No goals for England from penalties

If he had looked after himself maybe England could have gone on to win the World Cup again in 1970. He would have only been 30 years old
04:37 When the AI text-to-voice doesn't get the context of "polish"
It is a shame you mentioned Johnson - a national disgrace, when Greaves was such an iconic legend
What silence did the children break?
If Jimmy had been fit for the final it wouldn’t have gone to extra time, w3 wouldn’t have been shown the goal that obviously wasn’t by Hurst, the game would have been put to bed by Jimmy in normal time.

I declined into alcoholic hellism, a slip of the tongue or a pun, either is accurate.

What, he EVEN scored in the FA Youth cup final!. Wow, nothing will ever trump that.
