As a kid i herd story's similar to these from my grand parents, they contain a lot of wisdom and life lessons. too bad we do not have these story's now a days.
Atreus: Mimir, do you know of any gods besides the Aesir and Vanir? Mimir: Aye, lad. I know of a fair few. Far to the south-east, in a region where Europa and Asia meet, there is a land called Canaan. The god of that region has taken a rather...unique approach to things. Atreus: Unique, how? Mimir: Well, unlike the gods of most realms, he trusts his worshipers to handle their own affairs and doesn't interfere directly unless it's absolutely necessary. From what I've heard, he's taken a rather dim view of the rest of us. Kratos: Hmm, this god sounds like someone I would like. Mimir: Probably.
So was Mimir known as Puck in his younger days? like, that story sounds like he used to serve Obregon and then when it went south he just changed his name and left to serve someone else
Mark Guevarra It happened during Tyr's Vault mission, when they were in the treasure room. Maybe you should watch the mission walkthrough and skip to that part because there's no video on that specific part yet.
its worse than that, first goddess of greek mythology, gaia, slain by her only son oranos, slain by his last son chronos, slain by his last son zues, slain by his last son kratos
these stories are so different without Loki in it. for one thing, the story about the stonemason son had Loki disguising himself as a Mare and had sex with the magical horse, from that rutting Odin received Sleipnir. pretty disgusting imagining atreus doing that.
cyberwolfy37 My brother and I were discussing Norse mythology in context of the God of War Universe. I thought of something about Atreus as Loki. Maybe all the weird shenanigans Loki has done or will do are slandering rumors to discredit Atreus. The reason they would do this is to verbally belittle the amount of damage Atreus causes them and somehow they get word of his Norse name Loki and call him that to insult him.
also, in the story with the Giant that stole Mjolnir, it was Loki who convinced Thor to dress up as Freya to trick him. Freya didn't want to have anything to do with the Giant King, and was even offended by Thor's and Loki's desire to trade her for Mjolnir
WAIT WAIT WAIT Wasn't there a story where Mimir speculates that Ragnarok has already taken place in the future, and that the World Serpent was thrown into the past, a time before his birth? Oh, wait... I think that didn't happen on boat Yeah, I think that didn't happen on the boat, as it is very good foreshadowing that Atreus is Loki The World Serpent mentioned that Atreus felt familiar... If we are to follow Nordic myth, then Loki is the father of the World Serpent... which would mean that the World Serpent has yet to be born
But this is unlike the traditional Nordic mythos. It was mentioned that the World Serpent was cast to a time before his birth. Atreus, also known as Loki, was to father the WS, was only a boy when they met each other. This statement alone confirmed that the WS met his father before the WS was even born. That is also why the WS mentioned that Atreus looked familiar and why the WS can speak a dead language, hinting that an older Atreus/Loki taught him it.
because kratos will die anyway, in the final we see this.. and its going to be on the next game, not sure if its thor that is going to kill him, or odin.. but there is a probably for the boy to be adopted because of his vast knowledge after that, and then he plots to kill odin and thor
canadiananim8r Uh, if you know norse mythology, then you should know that Atreus's mother Faye, is short for Laufey. Which is Loki's actual mother who is a Joten.
Ummm no, Kratos is definitely not going to die. He's the main star of GOW, plus the fact that he slaughtered the WHOLE pantheon (good luck Thor and Odin).
Atreus: wow it's like a there is a whole city under water! What's it called? *mimir looking at Kratos nervously knowing hes the one that sunk it* mimir: I forgot
It's curious that Kratos not once questioned or asked about the stories of creation that Mimir told. Being greek Kratos must have known different stories of how the world, the sun, the stars and how man and beasts, all came to be.
i don't think kratos cares, that and the stories of creation all deal with the realms of each pantheon. mimir should know this, since he isn't originally norse anyway, he is celtic.
The Prose Edda has many of them in their proper context. GoW4 has of course made some pretty serious adjustments to suit the gods being the antagonists.
What kind of storys I hoped for this game: First Story: Boots of Hermes Atreus: Father, where did you get those boots? Mimir: He cut of Hermes- Kratos: HEAD Atreus: You cut of Hermes what? Kratos: Uhh...his hair Atreus: his hair? Kratos: Yeah, you see...his hair was too long and he asked me if i could cut of his hair in exchange for his boots...he didn't have money. Atreus: Poor guy, but you helped him to get on his feet right. Kratos: (remembers the moment where he cut of Hermes legs) ...head tell us about the giant that stole Thors hammer! Second Story: Wings of Icarus Atreus: Father, where did you get those huge wings? I don't think it's from a bird. Mimir: They're not, they're from Icarus. Kratos: HEAD Atreus: Who is Icarus? Kratos: Uhh...Icarus was an old man who died of Age. After he died i took his wings. Atreus: Poor guy, but at least he died peacefully. Kratos: (Remembers the moment where Icarus fell into the lava)...head speak of Baldur! Third Story: Helios Head Atreus: Father, can this head talk too? Mimir: HA, the way he killed him, it would be a miracle! 😁 Kratos: HEAD Atreus: It's ok father. I'm sure he was deserving. Kratos: Well he was deserving but (Remembers the moment where the sun disappeared, because of Kratos)... Atreus: but what? Kratos: Nothing Fourth Story: Claws of Hades Atreus: Father, What can these blades do? Mimir: Absorbing people's soul. Kratos: HEAD Atreus: You take people's soul away?! Kratos: No! I mean...only the souls of bad people so...so the world can be full of good people. Atreus: WOW, i never knew that you're a superhero! 😀 Kratos: (Remembers the destruction of Olympus) ...Head why did Freya spit in your face?!
Man, The Aesir Gods make the Olympian Gods look like Nice Guys! XD! Odin and Thor, Especially Odin is One of the Biggest Asshole I've heard off in All of Fiction! He's up there with Dio Brando, Frieza and Griffith!
What would be the stories for the 17 titans from Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) that Mimir from God of War can tell to Atreus? And what would each titan's jotnar shrines look like? I know God of War has nothing to do with Godzilla but since the two are in the same category of Mythology and Legend and they both have the same music composer, it makes sense a bit to ask.
Kim Taehyung Are you stupid? They obviously haven't finished the Norse mythology continuation yet and they're definitely not going to transition GOW franchise into Egyptian mythology (Ew). That would be wierd asf, the transition between Greek and Norse on the other hand actually makes sense. (To a degree)
I'm sure their budget was used up for the story and scenery, I mean, personally I think the water is a small blip in the grand scheme of things despite it being a large part of the game.
I really at the same time love and hate how this game both wonderfully retells and totally shits on classic norse mythology. So much of it is wrong based on what we have today and much of it ignores a lot of other characters and stories. It shits all over the Aesir and really turns Odin, one of my favourite gods into a real prick. At the same time I am so in love with how detailed the new versions are that I almost forgive them. It's really confusing for me.
Mimir: *on Bergelmir* It begins, on an ocean of blood!
Kratos: *dryly* Finally, a story worth hearing.
Whoever you were that wrote these stories into gameplay, you are awesome for that line alone. :P
Well it was refreshing for sure compared to all the rest.
When?
If Kratos was a gamer, he would've definitely played God Of War or similar games.
15:51
I love it when Kratos has little moments that sound sincerely Dad-like.
I could listen to Mimir tell stories all day.
It’s a good thing we control Kratos, we have the ability to listen despite kratos objections
Aye we all would too mate
Should have named it "Boat Banter Between Boi, Bothered Brotha and Beheaded Buddy"
Appropriate Application of Alliteration right there ;)
John Westbrook
That title was a pleasure to read
John Westbrook Beheaded BROTHER.
What is this, a criken video?
Miss Leading U right, but "Brother" is for Kratos
Kratos vs Thor will be one of the gratest battle in the history of the videogaming a Clash of Titans the superbowl the WrestleMania the Fight of the Century
agree with you. but currently thor were busy with his avengers teammates
Geralt Loðbrók thor is too busy with thanos and getting used to his new axe
Geralt Loðbrók I hope Kratos rips Thor's guts out. How they potrayed Thor in this game, was so good that you cannot bear but to just hate him........
And his Father too!
Which will be the greater fight: Kratos vs Thor or Kratos vs Odin?
Mimir is a great way to tell Lore and history.
No need for you to search it in the menus and read it yourself. Or wait there in the menus while someone reads it to you.
Jolly Cooperation it kinda reminds me of the sea shanties in black flag:
Carter Gates I can sea why.
In great accent as well.
Carter Gates I love and miss playing Black flag, my favorite chantie was roll boys roll or was it row boys row....... I can't remember
Mimir is among the best parts of the game. Absolutely brilliant
Regarding Krato's short stories. The man that he mentions to have told him these stories is Aesop. The Greek fabulist. These stories are ancient.
There once was a man. A man who shared every story related to us. That man is of Ice.... and Fire.
Project-6 this is so corny but I like it 😂
I still dont get why they had to throw a weapon to the lake to awaken the serpent
I would say throwing a axe into someone's head is a good way to wake someone up... or to prevent them from ever waking up again.
Xprt Punk so the serpent would know that its not Thor's hammer?? Idk thats the best i could think of
SiTReP 24 kratos made the leviathan axe freeze before he threw it. i think the serpent can feel if a part of his scales gets cold. i dont know, the serpent just knows i guess. plot convenience
Lol at 15:53 when Atreus admits to getting angry at Kratos, and Kratos sounds both surprised and menacing at the same time. "...do you?"
As a kid i herd story's similar to these from my grand parents, they contain a lot of wisdom and life lessons. too bad we do not have these story's now a days.
too bad many of the old people now a days are just boasting what they did in the past not giving any lesson or wisdom too
@@gentlemanwithamustache idk what they're boasting about, ruining the planet lol
Atreus: Mimir, do you know of any gods besides the Aesir and Vanir?

Mimir: Probably.
Wait is this actually in the game?
No, I was just trying to be funny.
I get that the reference is the Abrahamic God, but is it OT God or NT God?
very in-character. i have a lingering suspicion you might have made SOME contribution to the game script
I don't know, Yaweh was pretty violent on the old testament
So was Mimir known as Puck in his younger days? like, that story sounds like he used to serve Obregon and then when it went south he just changed his name and left to serve someone else
There was an interaction between Kratos and Mimir, Kratos answered sarcastically, it was so funny
Mark Guevarra ”yes boy take it, we might need to butter bread on our journey” ?
mert ali........................ "See, this is why no one likes you".
Alex Dike where can you find a video of that? Been trying to find it
Mark Guevarra It happened during Tyr's Vault mission, when they were in the treasure room. Maybe you should watch the mission walkthrough and skip to that part because there's no video on that specific part yet.
Alex Dike thanks fam
2:36 the Irony of Atreas here knowing the entire story here actually made me spit out my coffee, the foreshadowing in this game is real good.
Awful lot of patricide in these stories... wonder why they kept being brought up?
*Foreshadowing/Flashbacks to GOW3*
its worse than that, first goddess of greek mythology, gaia, slain by her only son oranos, slain by his last son chronos, slain by his last son zues, slain by his last son kratos
It is very common in a wide variety of mythologies.
Thomas Minten Zues was the last son yet he became god of Olympus? Wow, interesting.
Thomas Minten didn't Kratos slay Cronos and Zeus in the game though?
Matador Hernandez Yeah Kratos killed everyone. Except Aphrodite lol.
When Mimir says he and his friends were called Goodfellows, was that a reference to "A Midsummer's Night Dream"?
Was Mimir Puck?
Turns out you were right
I hope these lore stories continues into Ragnarok, these truly made traversal more enjoyable and something other open world games should learn from.
Wait... Odin tripped on mushrooms and tried to take out his own eyes? HAHA
these stories are so different without Loki in it. for one thing, the story about the stonemason son had Loki disguising himself as a Mare and had sex with the magical horse, from that rutting Odin received Sleipnir. pretty disgusting imagining atreus doing that.

Your comment is really smart, just letting you know.
Jacky Chang Aye that's actually makes sense. All those wierd stories could be fake propaganda to poke fun at Atreus in GOW. Comedy for the Aesir.....
cyberwolfy37 in the first E3 trailer, Atreus had a toy of slipnir
So slipnir is probably just odins own special horse in the gow series
also, in the story with the Giant that stole Mjolnir, it was Loki who convinced Thor to dress up as Freya to trick him. Freya didn't want to have anything to do with the Giant King, and was even offended by Thor's and Loki's desire to trade her for Mjolnir
9:00 You cut off a funny moment.
Given what Mimir is saying about his backstory i think he might be a form of Celtic spirit or a faerie.
Madgizmo I think he might have been Puck
I hope we get a 'Mimir' character in each game from now on.

Wow... an entire city underwater! Aye lad, a forgotten city! What’s it called?

Kratos sunken a city?
@@Psy_Ro Kratos sunk Atlantis in GOW:Ghost of Sparta.
That way kratos said "Do you?" When atreus said he gets angry at him sometimes kinda scared the shit outta me
lol so in this universe mimir was the one who tricked odin into trading his eyes for knowledge.
It's curious that Kratos not once questioned or asked about the stories of creation that Mimir told. Being greek Kratos must have known different stories of how the world, the sun, the stars and how man and beasts, all came to be.

Guys, when I was playing the game, during the battle I heard, that Mimir wanted to tell a story about Ratatoskr, but now he don't want to do it...
Yeah, called ratatoskr during a fight in niflheim and Kratos was like "Not now head!!"
there is no story, the joke is mimir knowing a magical squirel
Well we’ll we’ll
It's so cute when they put Mimir on the boat x)
Great video. Makes me want to find a book that has all of these stories
The Prose Edda has many of them in their proper context. GoW4 has of course made some pretty serious adjustments to suit the gods being the antagonists.
Ymir and the Aesir story sound similar to the Greek Titans, Uruanus and The pantheon gods
When Mimir says "fucking" as an adjective, you can really feel the weight in it.
Whenever I hear these Stories about to start I stop the boat and just listen.
I could fall asleep to Mimirs voice
Mirmir: *Lad*
Kratos: *Boi*
Well F! odin is megalomania.and thor does not fall far from the tree either.
Watching this is more entertaining than seven episodes of Rings Of Power
I can’t count how many in game days I spent on the shore just listening to Mimir
i was shocked when i heard mimir cuss when on the boat
I love your gameplays u make me smile everyday thank you 😊
Mimir: "There comes a time in every man's life, where they change their name and head north, to start anew"
How can a simple wooden boat run and smash through things in the water, like it's its own Metra Express Train? You know?
I'd like to hear one of these stories with Sedna, where it's Odin who cuts off her fingers.
There is alot of conversations/stories you missed in this.
What kind of storys I hoped for this game:

Mimir: HA, the way he killed him, it would be a miracle! 😁
Kratos: HEAD
Atreus: It's ok father. I'm sure he was deserving.
Kratos: Well he was deserving but (Remembers the moment where the sun disappeared, because of Kratos)...
Atreus: but what?
Kratos: Nothing
Fourth Story: Claws of Hades
