bro do we really need to act physically or just by visualising in our mind by sitting down simply?

@@abhinavh9560 if your talking about for the sensory exercises, do what you can. Don’t let it sit in your mind. Involve your body, For example if your working on the coffee cup exercise use your hands and reach out for the cup. The cup doesn’t have to be in your hands either, it could be floating and rubbing against your face. Allow yourself to imagine. No logic while using senses i’d say

Im trying to learn the basics of Sense memory. I have read most of your books. Im trying to finish them all and then dive deep into the excersises. What I find hard to belive (but I want to) is the level of reality you describe your sense memory experience to be. You describe them to be completely REAL.. being able to ACTUALLY SEE an object that's not really there...
I kind of intuitively get that recreating a tactile sensation is possible.. (never acchived it.. ) but I feel that it's possible.. because in life it does happen a little .. BUT actually being able to create an entire scenario around you like in affective memory... ?...and tecnically speaking if you SEE the place you are recreating... then what happens to the real place you are in? The stage..your room or whatever? So you see double? You see two blurred places at the same time.. waaaaa? 🤯😄
So I'm doing the coffe sense memory exercise... and when I work WITHOUT the cup..... what should I expect? A kind of magic visual effect like in movies where I see the cup appearing suddenly? Because you do specify not to SEE with the inner eye. Inner eye being the images that just show up whenever we think anyhting right? "oh i forgot to buy milk" .. and the milk shows up a moment BUT inside my head and it's not particularly vivid image..
So as I understand sense memory the answer is YES if you practice enough at some point the cup actually appears on the table right there... thats it. It's basically learning to be able to have hallucinations on command🤔🤔
and yet I find it hard to belive..😅 but I do wanna belive. And I guess i need some kind of reassurance.. cause I get crazy spending hours of time "waiting for the damn cup to appear" .. gets frustrating after 5 minutes! 😅

Hallucinating is not the point of sense memory, it's an exercise to train your senses to respond to imaginary stimuli. It's an exercise to understand what being in the moment means. If you are waiting for the cup to appear then you are not in the moment, you are anticipating it. The exercise teaches you to not anticipate. I didn't understand what it meant until I experienced it myself when I attended an acting workshop which taught this.

Sir, this is awsome....! awesome...! actually I am trying to get information about Pratyahara ( Its a type of Yoga to get control over 5 senses) You know, I have found all the misinterpreted methods to do that in online... But your video really says about the real practice of pratyahara Yoga... You are doing great.... this has immense benefits... KEEP GOING! and Share your Knowledge that is most probably unshared on the internet.

These videos make the books more clear. Probably because I'm more of a picture person than a word person.

I'm kinda suspicious of this whole sense memory thing. I'm sure it works to some degree but cannot imagine being that useful.

i’m 2 years late to this comment but maybe someone else will see this in the future. Sense memory is used in everyday life even without being aware of it. Sometimes we smell pizza and it brings us back to a happy memory with friends. Though it is basic, there’s a lot of it we could explore everyday. Usually me personally i realized that when something happens i put the bag over the situation without knowing how i feel about it. Sensory gives you the ability to recreate and explore objects/experience and truly see how you respond to it.
      hope this helps 🙌
