Eric Morris: Eric Morris has been teaching his unique acting system in Los Angeles, New York, all over the United States, and around the world for fifty three years. His approach to acting is to teach actors “how not to act” but to become “professional experiencers” which means that instead of imposing emotional behavior they must experience in reality what the character is actually experiencin...

    I really, really, really wish that I could be a student of Mr. Morris. Everything I've seen him speak on about the acting process seems to click into place so very well for me, and I deeply look forward to studying as much as possible.

    You are one of the most brilliant minds I have known, along with Milton Erickson when it comes to activating the power of the subconscious. That is a fact. Love your books, and as right know, they are changing people lives. Talking about mine, some weird and joyful results came to me from your exercises, especially from your book Acting from the ultimate consciousness, they have changed me to such an extent, that is not short of a miracle. And I am a veteran hypnotist, meaning this that I thought I have seen it all, but I was so wrong... I thank you, cause your choices brought light to me. thanks thanks thanks

    Thanks a lot. I’m in therapy now. I’ve been playing for 4 years in the theater, where K.S. Stanislavsky had his theatre for factory workers 100 years ago. I left it thinking that I’m bigger than it dreaming to be a big movie star. I have had a big trauma and because of my Ego I made a lot of mistakes. But it’s a life. Not long ago I returned to my theatre cause I love acting and now I understand my way in acting on a deeper level if I can say so.(I’m not perfect in English) Thank you for sharing ❤

    being in Hollywood is never gonna be equal to be an unserious person who just wanna be famous.. there are more projects, more diverse projects, more different kind of people to inter-act with as well... diverse does not mean there is one actor of each race color in your troupe 🤣 diverse means, the projects are diverse about what they are, how it is to work in them etc... that is not a mundane lifestyle where you repeat the same borring acts at the end of every weekend... being in a small community ran by a woke municipal government that force you to only play theatre about gender dysphoria, being a minority, being odd etc to the masses is not something that is much about acting and finding yourself in life, that is playing on a hidden agenda to brainwash kids and youth into leftist thinking by the use of a local city theatre politics.. I think people should ask themselves instead if by having a salary in a small local theatre for the rest of your lives being able to act every month but having to please Leftist and political extremist groups and be a an inauthentic person not developing you but instead developing others businesses, money and politics is something you really wanna spend your last 2000 weeks of life with??! ... or you wanna go to Hollywood and challenge your Self, be brave and meet all kinds of people from all kinds of backgrounds and get into roles you might never ever have considered before !.... Life is short, is only 4000 weeks and to work is more or less only 2000 weeks or less left for most of us... who you wanna work for, the WOKE leftist extremist that kidnapped film and culture projects or for Your Self and those that You can come to relate to and develop something real with?!... just my five cents, you can pick em up and use them to better your life or you can leave them and carry on sleeping throughout the rest of your 2000 weeks.. is Your choice.

    Eric was the most influential teacher I have ever had. I got to study with for over two years. I wish I had gone directly to Eric when I was 20 (instead of studying theater in University) by the time I got to Eric I was 30 and I had to first get rid of my bad habits and phony emotional acting. After a year of tears, frustration and a deep emotional journey I finally got to what he said was visceral acting. He brought me to a deeper, experimental, real emotional place. He finally gave me some praise and said he could see ME and like a sculptor leaves their fingerprints on the clay, well very few, we actually recognize who's the artist, but some artists find their voice. I believe when I left his workshop I was just at the pinnacle of the process and I used his technique in my professional work. But with age and circumstances I began to write and produce. Hollywood sucks as it values youth and beauty over brains and talent. I never desired fame I just love the craft and I love acting more than any art form and median I've worked with. I always dream of returning to his workshop. When I was a starving actor it was very hard to pay for the classes. Now it wouldn't be hard but im not working anymore. But I miss the craft and his process is legit and it's the most challenging process that never ends for the dedicated and few willing to go there and dare to grow.

    Im trying to learn the basics of Sense memory. I have read most of your books. Im trying to finish them all and then dive deep into the excersises. What I find hard to belive (but I want to) is the level of reality you describe your sense memory experience to be. You describe them to be completely REAL.. being able to ACTUALLY SEE an object that's not really there... I kind of intuitively get that recreating a tactile sensation is possible.. (never acchived it.. ) but I feel that it's possible.. because in life it does happen a little .. BUT actually being able to create an entire scenario around you like in affective memory... ?...and tecnically speaking if you SEE the place you are recreating... then what happens to the real place you are in? The stage..your room or whatever? So you see double? You see two blurred places at the same time.. waaaaa? 🤯😄 So I'm doing the coffe sense memory exercise... and when I work WITHOUT the cup..... what should I expect? A kind of magic visual effect like in movies where I see the cup appearing suddenly? Because you do specify not to SEE with the inner eye. Inner eye being the images that just show up whenever we think anyhting right? "oh i forgot to buy milk" .. and the milk shows up a moment BUT inside my head and it's not particularly vivid image.. So as I understand sense memory the answer is YES if you practice enough at some point the cup actually appears on the table right there... thats it. It's basically learning to be able to have hallucinations on command🤔🤔 and yet I find it hard to belive..😅 but I do wanna belive. And I guess i need some kind of reassurance.. cause I get crazy spending hours of time "waiting for the damn cup to appear" .. gets frustrating after 5 minutes! 😅

    • @amberpretends
      @amberpretends 2 года назад

      Hallucinating is not the point of sense memory, it's an exercise to train your senses to respond to imaginary stimuli. It's an exercise to understand what being in the moment means. If you are waiting for the cup to appear then you are not in the moment, you are anticipating it. The exercise teaches you to not anticipate. I didn't understand what it meant until I experienced it myself when I attended an acting workshop which taught this.

      @Armanibbrown 2 года назад

      @@abhinavh9560 if your talking about for the sensory exercises, do what you can. Don’t let it sit in your mind. Involve your body, For example if your working on the coffee cup exercise use your hands and reach out for the cup. The cup doesn’t have to be in your hands either, it could be floating and rubbing against your face. Allow yourself to imagine. No logic while using senses i’d say
