From what I gathered from EZ’s interviews and IG stories, He voluntarily signed up for the US Airforce. This was after he was working at a fastfood chain that wasn’t paying much and he was still starting with making music. He was basically willing to try anything that would allow him to provide for his Family which is a pretty typical mindset of a Filipino. Easy Goin Millions might give you a better insight on this.
