This is a classic video on how to navigate HR. As a engineer, this is crap we have to deal with all the time at the company. Your colleagues are not your friends. Do not get too comfortable as HR is designed to protect the company, not you. Also, if you're a male, do mind yourself when interacting with female colleagues. You never know when a casual remark, touch, or scenario can be misconstrued as an inappropriate act. The company/school will do whatever it may to protect itself, even if it means trimming the fat.
26:28 (In a state w/one party consent) School just makes a rule you can't record disciplinary meetings… you aren't given a transcript of the meeting… no matter the severity of consequences, not allowed to have hired legal representation. You're represented by a school faculty member (school pays their salary, who do you think they’ll side with.) It’s a Kangaroo court! Luckily I’ve never had to experience it. However, I’ve had several friends be subjected to horrible treatment, and they “just did the thing.” I will never forgive my administration for forcing my friends to bend the knee when no offense was done…
