My biggest challenge in digital is the lack of tactile feel that I get with traditional pen, pencil and paper. The glassy and plastic feel kills the joy of drawing for me so it would be really helpful for me to have a display tablet that feels like paper.
This is a matte textured drawing surface. It's somewhere between actual paper and glossy glass. There are also felt nibs that will provide even more textured feel and those felt nibs are not that expensive. Drawing experience is good.

Thanks a lot for showing the offset near the edge of the screen. I had a 13 inch Huion that drove me nuts with cursor accuracy even when I was as much as an inch away from the edge of the screen. I feel like the only thing make me hesitate on buying one of these is the cursor offset when you change the angle you hold the pen at, but it doesn't look massive so that might not be such a big deal in the long term for me.
I’m very tempted to get this tablet. Many people who reviewed it seem to like it. It would be my first drawing tablet with a screen. I’m looking in to tablets because I’m really tempted to start doing digital art as well. I know that a lot of people like using an iPad for their digital art but buying one (+a Apple pen), where I live, would cost almost twice as much as this tablet. And it’s just out of my budget since I also need a new laptop.
Trust me,..don't fall for the cult like love for the iPad. It's a good device, sure,....but 12.9" vs 16" is NO CONTEST. Go with the larger real estate. When you factor in the GUI's of many apps that have space occupied with their toolsets,...you will be thankful you opted for a larger screen. If you want that balance between portability and working space, I think 16" is like the perfect size. Just my opinion though...others will of course vary.
@@ToddDolce I actually did end up getting this xp pen tablet but I couldn’t get it to work with my old computer so I have to buy a new one before I can try the tablet.
6:58 the recessed power -----> my wacom mobile studio pro 16 is nuked because the power supply began to short out, as it's so exposed. So even the very light usage it got from me was enough to make it fritz out. The power only works from one very specific angle, and it can't be used as a mobile any more. Well, can't be used at all as the WIn10 got fried due to a software update glitcheroo. Anyway, Wacom said it would cost 1600 to fix (!!!!), so I've been looking for non-wacom tablets, as I'm never giving them another penny. The power insert to protect the weak link is a very encouraging sign. Thanks for the review.

I would love to see a direct comparison between the XP-Pen Artist Pro 16 (Gen 2) and the Cintiq 16. In terms of sensation when drawing, but mainly in terms of quality and durability. I know that the Cintiq 16 is inferior in terms of technical specifications, but I'm still considering buying it because I still don't know how long this XPPen will last, but I know that Wacom is reliable in this regard. What do you think?

The latency will still be there. It's a hardware limitation of the pen display. I don't think latency is gonna be an issue unless you're someone who draws really quick, or using this for writing
I am VERY tempted to get this tablet. It will be my first screen tablet so I don't know if I should spend so much money. Another option is the Artist Pro 14 gen 2, the Artist 13.3 Pro is a cheaper option. I do think it will be worth it, I have bought from Xp-pen before, I forgot to update the drivers so I thought it was broken but that's my fault. I'm probably going to put it on my Christmas List. They do have a lot of sales so I might find a better deal later, like New Years. Great review! Do you think that there are better alternatives? The stand might be a problem although other brands like Wacom don't include stands either and that is fine I guess. This review really helped my verdict.

Hi, may I ask if you had to struggle a lot with colour calibration the first time you turned the tablet on? I don't have any specific intrument for colour calibration (I have a wacom cintiq 13hd and it has great colours despite being quite old) so I was wondering if this tablet would make me struggle a lot with colour adjustment or the colours can be easily calibrated manually. My purposes almost are painting (krita, medibang, CSP) and take note, learn 3D like sketchup. Which do you prefer for me? And is this XP tablet good for using note on PC. I hope Toeh can reply.
Choose based on the apps you want to use, and whether you really need the portability, size. In that order. Sketchup will not work on the Samsung tablet. As for Krita, Medibang, CSP, you can run them on Samsung or from PC with the XPPen.
Great review! How's the tablet now after 10 months? Are you still using it and what are your long term sentiments about it? Has the wobble and jitter issue been fixed by now?
I don’t keep review units that long so I don’t have this already. It is not a huge issue as in it doesn’t affect my line art at normal drawing speed as shown in video under “drawing experience” section
Not sure what's wrong. Test with Krita's Pencil 5-Tilted brush to see if tilt is actually working. Or if using Windows, try to enable, disable Windows Ink to test.
Hello Teoh, thank you for this review. I'm currently looking to get my first display tablet... Currently I'm on the fence between the Artist Pro 16 Gen 2, Artist 16 Gen 2 and Artist Pro 14 Gen 2. The price gap between Artist Pro 16 Gen 2 and the other two is a little high for my budget.. While I can wait a little longer until I can afford it, I'm not sure if the specs and performance compared to the cheaper two is worth the wait and money, considering that it'd be my first tablet. On paper, the Artist Pro 14 would be the best of both worlds.. Cheaper than the Pro 16 Gen 2 while also having similar specs, except for the screen size, which I don't mind. However, the Artist Pro 14 is also considerably more expensive than the older Artist 16 Gen 2. I probably won't go wrong with any of these 3, but your insights and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I have the 24 pro, but it feels a little too big for me and i dont really use the express keys. All the smaller models were only hd which, so this one is very tempting. Would you say its worth getting? Besides the work space, would there be any drawbacks?

@@teohyc Hi again Teoh. Cindy here again. I finally got this display set up after having to wait another week for more cables. I set it up over the weekend. I was so excited to get started with it. I am having a terrible time though. I have installed the correct driver for my operating system. I have tried various screen sharing settings and searched the internet for 2 days now. Turned the computer off and on a dozen times. My problem is that where the pen tip is and where the cursor is are in a different place...50mm or more away usually or sometimes I can get it to be a little bit closer. There is terrible lag too. I just don't know what I need to do. Maybe it is faulty or could my graphics cards not be good enough? I am only asking you now because i just don't know what else I can do. Cindy
@@teohyc I just wanted to say I finally had a long session with XP Pen a tech team person. They had to do some things remotely accessing my computer. The driver that was supposed to work on my computer was wrong so I had to uninstall it and get another driver. Then we did a few other tings. Sadly the lag in Affinity Designer 1 & 2 in the vector brushes and all vector parts of the program do not work well with lots of bad lag. Pixel brushes are better. I now need to explore other drawing programs. It is a bummer because I have used Affinity for so long now. Learning new applications take time. I am telling you this in case it can help someone else. Im considering getting this to match with my Samsung Tab s8 because I find the palm rejection on the Samsung so distracting! Touch issues aside (I have Clip Tabmate anyway) do you think this is good to pair with an Android phone/ tablet?
Such pen displays do not work well with Android devices because of lack of driver, and problem with screen orientation which will affect movement of pen vs cursor.
Hello thank you for the video. I recently bought this tablet but I'm facing problems with the resolution. My laptop is 1920x1080 and the tablet is 2560x1600. I have the tablet on native resolution and scale is on 100% as it looks too big and blurry on the other percentages. Even tough is on 100% scaling eveything looks small and slightly fuzzy, do you know how I can fix this? Thank you.
From the sound that the pen makes when touching the screen it makes me wonder, does the nib get pushed in every time it gets in contact with the screen? I remember having an old cintiq pen that did that and it was annoying

I've never had a drawing tablet, but I've been drawing my whole life on paper. Which one would you reccomend to me? Thanks in advance.
Main selling point of iPad is portability. By the way you will need to upgrade to 256GB and buy Apple Pencil so that’s extra cost. Next you should compare price with Samsung Tab S9 FE. Huion has much larger display and is better work working long periods of time. Selling point is you get to use desktop software

I am happy, that there are finally alternatives to Wacom, but it has become so difficult to decide, they all have different characteristics.
I think that's a little too much wobble for me. Any ideas why you're getting so much wobble here vs the 14 inch version which had very minimal jittering? Your tapers are also not nearly as sharp as the 14 inch model despite both units using the same pen? I'm surprised that there's such a noticeable differences between the two sizes.

I would appreciate it if you tell us, if you discover, what the reason for the difference in straight lines is. @@danielbarrera1909 My intention was quite similar. I watched all recent reviews, studied the specs and finally felt this is exactly the right pen display for my purposes. Thus I just hope there is simple explanation and fix for these issues with the 16-inch model. It would be wonderful, if you, teohontech, had the time to have another look into this. Of course, I would be curious whether the XP Pen people have any idea. After all this is advertised as their new flagship product.
I prefer this simply because of the 16:10 aspect ratio which is a huge selling point for me. Also the extra resolution is NICE vs the 1080P from the XPPen Artist 16 2nd gen. So it really depends on whether you want to spend a bit more.

This Xppen actually has higher (better) colour accuracy than the Macbook Pro. But for the colours of the XPPen and Macbook Pro to (almost) match, you will need to calibrate both displays with a colour calibrator. If you don't have a colour calibrator, you'll have to use the factory pre-calibration.
Hi teoh since you reviewed the XP PEN 16 2ND GEN, DOES the drawing surface on the pen feel the same on the new 2.5 res. pro 16? Same with the xp pen 15.6pro. Does it have that matte smooth drawing on both drvices? I have the 16 2nd gen
The question I have is: Does 16k pressure resolution matter at all? Back in the day I remember being excited over my Intuos that had 512 pressure levels. Then 1024 was the next big deal, then 2048, then they jumped to 8196 (a 4x jump, and a 16x jump over the 512 that at one time was consider professional performance). At some point you exceed the human threshold to even feel the resolution change, and I'm not sure we didn't pass that a while back.
Artist Pro 16 (Gen 2) I have a question. I connected the tablet to the USB-C on the computer and the second cable to the power supply. I don't have a screen, it says this: XP-PEN startup screen, then no-signal, power-saving. What can i do? 😢 I dont have 3 in 1 cable.
Is your computer's USB-C able to output video? If you happen to have a phone or tablet with USB-C port that can output video, you can test those with the xppen.
@@dzielnymaytosterA few possibilities 1. Your USB-C port cannot output video. So you will need the 3-1 cable 2. Cable connection is loose 3. Pen display is faulty If you are sure the pen display is working, then you will need the 3-1 cable for HDMI video
16 provides better experience since the display is larger and resolution higher. So the UI for drawing apps is bigger and you get more spacious size to work with. Both pen displays are good at their respective prices
Hey there! Thanks for these great reviews! They always help a lot. If you dont mind me asking that question (again), but which one do you recommend? The XPPen Artist Pro 16 gen2 or the Kamvas Pro 16 2.5k? I want to get one of those for my wife for christmas, but can't really decide. Is the 16:10 and 16k sensitivity on the XPPen the selling point? I don't quite understand that, since I draw like I built rockets. I dont. My wife works in a small game developer startup as an animator/media designer. She used to draw on Wacom Tablets when she studied, but I'm sorry, those are way to expensive for me.. I read both your reviews and watched both videos but I'm really torn here 😅
Both pen displays are very sensitive. 16K in real life is not significantly more sensitive even though the number is 2 times more. So drawing performance for both is quite similar. I prefer the XPPen because of the 16:10 aspect ratio and the cable connect seems more durable. The Huion has hotkeys if you use hotkeys. Anyway, when you're on the keyboard for keyboard shortcuts, hotkeys are not that necessary.

Those pen computers are gonna be quite expensive. Anyway, another company will be launching a pen computer soon on Kickstarter and I will be reviewing that maybe this month or in October.
It's glass surface, a ceramic, so it's unlikely for the plastic/felt nib to scratch. And since this won't be used outdoorrs, it's unlikely to get anything onto the screen to scratch it.

you forgot to mention the switch to pen tablet mode. then again i think most display tablets have that. this model DOES tempt me because its size is small enough (compared to 21 & 24 in wide ones) that i can see mysekf switching from display to/from pen tablet mode (for the sake of ny neck & back ofc 😅)

Oh, so bigger is better? Is the pixel difference big of a deal between them? The only thing that's bothering me is, if I get a 16 inch and it still feels like a cramped up display for the softwares I'll use and I'll keep zooming in.
I ended up getting this one over the 22 with FHD and it's absolutely gorgeous! I love the resolution and size compared to the 13 inch that I had for 4 years. It's absolutely an upgrade for me!
A laminated display means there's no gap between the glass and LCD beneath. Laminated display and the material used to create the display are not related. If you mean matte screen protector, this pen display is not using that since it's using matte glass.

Hi. Which one should i choose, the pro 14 2nd or this pro 16 2nd. The difference between those two that i see is the screen size and resolution. Which one do u recomend me to get? Can you point out what the difference for me too. Thanks, the price of those two kinda different alot in my country so it make me quite indecisive.
In terms of value for money, the 14 is better simply because of the lower price point. 16 is good if you have more budget. Resolution is higher and screen is bigger hence drawing experience is better.
@@teohontech7141 can you explain a bit about what that means? I have a vague understanding. Also wich of the two is best to draw on less brush latency and wobble/jitter? And wich is nicer to your eyes like not hurt if you sitt long periods? Is one more glossy or mat dcreen than the other?
@@Shadowthevampire Common display aspect ratios are 16:9 (wide), 16:10 (less wide), followed by 3:2 (best). For work purposes, with a small display, it's best to get an aspect ratio that is less wide. For explanation, see this video ruclips.net/video/HPYK5uDfms8/видео.html As for drawing performance, the tech for pen displays has matured so nowadays most pen displays have rather similar pen performance so you can choose based on other features, in this case aspect ratio is why I choose xppen.
@@Shadowthevampire It's not that Huion has bad aspect ratio, it's 16:10 is better than 16:9 (Huion). And 3:2 is better than 16:10, but it does not mean 16:10 is bad.

In the version i got none, also they made the hole shorter, so most docks wont fit, clever for them to force you buy it. Even the cable from 16tp wouldnt fit. And in the other usbc wont work.

The 3-in-1 cable seemed to ship as a freebie for the 16” when it first shipped and during the XP-Pen 18th Anniversary Celebration, which was between Aug 16 and Sep 16. I ordered my 16” during this period and I did receive the 3-in-1 cable. The 3-in-1 cable appeared as a freebie on the order page (on XP-Pen’s website) when I order the Artist Pro 16” (2nd Gen). In the USA, I recommend ordering directly from XP-Pen’s website because orders over 50 USD or 100 USD (I forget which) gets you free shipping and no State Tax (whereas if it sells on Amazon you usually will be paying State Tax).

Kamvas 22 Plus is still a really good pen display by today's standard because visual quality of that screen is really good. So the main difference between these two really comes down to size and resolution, and how much table space you have.

I have a question: this tablet is on sale for 500 dollars, but their 16tp tablet with touch, which is normally 900 dollars, is on sale for just around 530. Should I get this tablet or the 16tp which is on a MASSIVE sale? The 16tp is older than this tablet, so I need to know if there are crucial specs it is missing, or which one is overall better.
I'm kinda curious about this exact tablet, so thanks for this review. There are actually a good number of things in the box, including the "pen case". This looks super nice, but I already bought a 10" model from XP-pen (Artist 10 Gen 2), so an upgrade from that is far away for me. I feel like XP-pen tablets just need touch support to make it probably even better than Wacom. I'm not familiar with using hotkeys... I prefer using my fingers to use on-screen buttons and zoom in and out.
Touch will be a bonus feature for sure. But currently there aren't many apps that really utilise touch features the way Procreate does with the many gesture shortcuts that are supported. For most drawing apps on windows, touch just means pan, zoom and rotate. Touch will benefit those who use apps designed for Windows tablets in the first place.
Thanks for the detailed review. I am wondering about the brightness. On the website XP Pen claims a brightness of 250 nits for this specific tablet. You mentioned 170 nits. Was this your own measurement for the USB C cable only setup ? May this depend on whether one uses WIndows or Mac ?
It's just 170 nits even with a power cable connected directly to the pen display. Real world brightness is usually 20% off the advertised brightness unfortunately. So I'm not surprised as someone who has reviewed too many pen display.
I've been using a tablet without a screen for 7 years. I'm afraid to watch these models because of the delay and lags. They are very visible on all the models on RUclips. I like to paint very quickly, for example with oil paint, but I want to try it on the screen. What do you suggest?
I have reviewed many products and I don’t think I have ever seen any tablet without latency. Even the best latency from iPad Pro and latest Samsung tablets will still have latency.

Hello, I was interested in purchasing the huion kanvas 16 pro 2.4. but it is very expensive and difficult to bring to my country, so I was reviewing this as an alternative. Your review is excellent, I only have a couple of questions, 1. does the tablet have a type-c output to connect to the laptop (not Mac)? and 2. can you work with clip paint with that tablet? thank you so much.
Is color calibration really needed ? First of all, I do not have the skills to make this properly and, also, the XP Pen site suggests that the calibration should be OK right out of the box.
Colours look good out of the box so colour calibration isn't necessary. I calibrate because I need the colours on this display to match my laptop and my desktop monitor.

Thanks a lot for showing the offset near the edge of the screen. I had a 13 inch Huion that drove me nuts with cursor accuracy even when I was as much as an inch away from the edge of the screen. I feel like the only thing make me hesitate on buying one of these is the cursor offset when you change the angle you hold the pen at, but it doesn't look massive so that might not be such a big deal in the long term for me.
I’m very tempted to get this tablet. Many people who reviewed it seem to like it. It would be my first drawing tablet with a screen. I’m looking in to tablets because I’m really tempted to start doing digital art as well. I know that a lot of people like using an iPad for their digital art but buying one (+a Apple pen), where I live, would cost almost twice as much as this tablet. And it’s just out of my budget since I also need a new laptop.

Trust me,..don't fall for the cult like love for the iPad. It's a good device, sure,....but 12.9" vs 16" is NO CONTEST. Go with the larger real estate. When you factor in the GUI's of many apps that have space occupied with their toolsets,...you will be thankful you opted for a larger screen. If you want that balance between portability and working space, I think 16" is like the perfect size. Just my opinion though...others will of course vary.

6:58 the recessed power -----> my wacom mobile studio pro 16 is nuked because the power supply began to short out, as it's so exposed. So even the very light usage it got from me was enough to make it fritz out. The power only works from one very specific angle, and it can't be used as a mobile any more. Well, can't be used at all as the WIn10 got fried due to a software update glitcheroo. Anyway, Wacom said it would cost 1600 to fix (!!!!), so I've been looking for non-wacom tablets, as I'm never giving them another penny. The power insert to protect the weak link is a very encouraging sign. Thanks for the review.
Some older xppen models also have this problem. Maybe that's why they went with this new and better design.

I would love to see a direct comparison between the XP-Pen Artist Pro 16 (Gen 2) and the Cintiq 16.
In terms of sensation when drawing, but mainly in terms of quality and durability.
I know that the Cintiq 16 is inferior in terms of technical specifications, but I'm still considering buying it because I still don't know how long this XPPen will last, but I know that Wacom is reliable in this regard. What do you think?

The latency will still be there. It's a hardware limitation of the pen display. I don't think latency is gonna be an issue unless you're someone who draws really quick, or using this for writing
I am VERY tempted to get this tablet. It will be my first screen tablet so I don't know if I should spend so much money. Another option is the Artist Pro 14 gen 2, the Artist 13.3 Pro is a cheaper option. I do think it will be worth it, I have bought from Xp-pen before, I forgot to update the drivers so I thought it was broken but that's my fault. I'm probably going to put it on my Christmas List. They do have a lot of sales so I might find a better deal later, like New Years. Great review! Do you think that there are better alternatives? The stand might be a problem although other brands like Wacom don't include stands either and that is fine I guess. This review really helped my verdict.

I recommend XPPen for the 16:10 aspect ratio which is actually bigger than the Huion.

It does not have touchscreen. So to zoom, pan and rotate you have to use keyboard shortcuts

Yes, this is more worth the money simply because price is lower. Currently USD 491 vs 809.
I already have a main display so I would go with smaller one. If I'm using it as my main and only display, I may consider the 19-inch.

Hi, may I ask if you had to struggle a lot with colour calibration the first time you turned the tablet on? I don't have any specific intrument for colour calibration (I have a wacom cintiq 13hd and it has great colours despite being quite old) so I was wondering if this tablet would make me struggle a lot with colour adjustment or the colours can be easily calibrated manually. My purposes almost are painting (krita, medibang, CSP) and take note, learn 3D like sketchup. Which do you prefer for me? And is this XP tablet good for using note on PC. I hope Toeh can reply.
Choose based on the apps you want to use, and whether you really need the portability, size. In that order.
Sketchup will not work on the Samsung tablet.
As for Krita, Medibang, CSP, you can run them on Samsung or from PC with the XPPen.

I don’t keep review units that long so I don’t have this already. It is not a huge issue as in it doesn’t affect my line art at normal drawing speed as shown in video under “drawing experience” section

Not sure what's wrong. Test with Krita's Pencil 5-Tilted brush to see if tilt is actually working.
Or if using Windows, try to enable, disable Windows Ink to test.
Hello, can brush be rotated while rotating pen? or set the scroll dial on remote to do the brush rotation?

I'm currently looking to get my first display tablet... Currently I'm on the fence between the Artist Pro 16 Gen 2, Artist 16 Gen 2 and Artist Pro 14 Gen 2.
The price gap between Artist Pro 16 Gen 2 and the other two is a little high for my budget.. While I can wait a little longer until I can afford it, I'm not sure if the specs and performance compared to the cheaper two is worth the wait and money, considering that it'd be my first tablet.
On paper, the Artist Pro 14 would be the best of both worlds.. Cheaper than the Pro 16 Gen 2 while also having similar specs, except for the screen size, which I don't mind. However, the Artist Pro 14 is also considerably more expensive than the older Artist 16 Gen 2.
I probably won't go wrong with any of these 3, but your insights and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Artist 16 gen 2 is good if you have limited budget. It's still a real good pen display.
6:42. I'm not sure that's an upgrade. Do you know how hard it will be to find replacement cables for that? Especially, longer, right angled ones?
I have the 24 pro, but it feels a little too big for me and i dont really use the express keys. All the smaller models were only hd which, so this one is very tempting. Would you say its worth getting? Besides the work space, would there be any drawbacks?
I don’t really see significant downsides to this. You just need to get a stand that can prop it up if you also want to use this as a main monitor

@@teohyc Hi again Teoh. Cindy here again. I finally got this display set up after having to wait another week for more cables. I set it up over the weekend. I was so excited to get started with it. I am having a terrible time though. I have installed the correct driver for my operating system. I have tried various screen sharing settings and searched the internet for 2 days now. Turned the computer off and on a dozen times. My problem is that where the pen tip is and where the cursor is are in a different place...50mm or more away usually or sometimes I can get it to be a little bit closer. There is terrible lag too. I just don't know what I need to do. Maybe it is faulty or could my graphics cards not be good enough? I am only asking you now because i just don't know what else I can do. Cindy
@@teohyc I just wanted to say I finally had a long session with XP Pen a tech team person. They had to do some things remotely accessing my computer. The driver that was supposed to work on my computer was wrong so I had to uninstall it and get another driver. Then we did a few other tings. Sadly the lag in Affinity Designer 1 & 2 in the vector brushes and all vector parts of the program do not work well with lots of bad lag. Pixel brushes are better. I now need to explore other drawing programs. It is a bummer because I have used Affinity for so long now. Learning new applications take time. I am telling you this in case it can help someone else. Thanks again for your support.
In terms of glare coating, would you say this screen is on par or behind what Huion released with 13 gen 3?

Im considering getting this to match with my Samsung Tab s8 because I find the palm rejection on the Samsung so distracting! Touch issues aside (I have Clip Tabmate anyway) do you think this is good to pair with an Android phone/ tablet?
Such pen displays do not work well with Android devices because of lack of driver, and problem with screen orientation which will affect movement of pen vs cursor.
Hello thank you for the video. I recently bought this tablet but I'm facing problems with the resolution. My laptop is 1920x1080 and the tablet is 2560x1600. I have the tablet on native resolution and scale is on 100% as it looks too big and blurry on the other percentages. Even tough is on 100% scaling eveything looks small and slightly fuzzy, do you know how I can fix this? Thank you.

From the sound that the pen makes when touching the screen it makes me wonder, does the nib get pushed in every time it gets in contact with the screen?
I remember having an old cintiq pen that did that and it was annoying
The pen nib movement is minimal, mostly lateral movement.
Hi,great video as always and I have a question: Right now thanks to diverse offers etc. I could buy either this one, the Huion Kamvas Pro 16 2.5k or the iPad 9th gen. I've never had a drawing tablet, but I've been drawing my whole life on paper. Which one would you reccomend to me?

Main selling point of iPad is portability. By the way you will need to upgrade to 256GB and buy Apple Pencil so that’s extra cost. Next you should compare price with Samsung Tab S9 FE.
Huion has much larger display and is better work working long periods of time. Selling point is you get to use desktop software

I think that's a little too much wobble for me. Any ideas why you're getting so much wobble here vs the 14 inch version which had very minimal jittering? Your tapers are also not nearly as sharp as the 14 inch model despite both units using the same pen? I'm surprised that there's such a noticeable differences between the two sizes.

I had a closer look at the video. Possibly, the pen tilt exceeded the threshold of 60°. Could that be causing the woobling ?

I would appreciate it if you tell us, if you discover, what the reason for the difference in straight lines is. Thus I just hope there is simple explanation and fix for these issues with the 16-inch model. It would be wonderful, if you, teohontech, had the time to have another look into this. I prefer this simply because of the 16:10 aspect ratio which is a huge selling point for me. Also the extra resolution is NICE vs the 1080P from the XPPen Artist 16 2nd gen. So it really depends on whether you want to spend a bit more.

hi teoh on tech, is the color accuracy is equal to the mac ?? this is the only case i didn't buy pen tablets.. it will be useful if u say this.
This Xppen actually has higher (better) colour accuracy than the Macbook Pro.
But for the colours of the XPPen and Macbook Pro to (almost) match, you will need to calibrate both displays with a colour calibrator.
If you don't have a colour calibrator, you'll have to use the factory pre-calibration.
Hi teoh since you reviewed the XP PEN 16 2ND GEN, DOES the drawing surface on the pen feel the same on the new 2.5 res. pro 16? Same with the xp pen 15.6pro. Does it have that matte smooth drawing on both drvices? I have the 16 2nd gen
The feel of the surface is quite similar. If you already have a working pen display I don’t see much reason to upgrade.

Depends on how big your table is. If you have the budget 16 is good. If you want to spend less 14 is good
The question I have is: Does 16k pressure resolution matter at all? Back in the day I remember being excited over my Intuos that had 512 pressure levels. Then 1024 was the next big deal, then 2048, then they jumped to 8196 (a 4x jump, and a 16x jump over the 512 that at one time was consider professional performance). At some point you exceed the human threshold to even feel the resolution change, and I'm not sure we didn't pass that a while back.
I don't really see or feel any difference between 8K or 16K.
8K pressure levels is already really good and natural.

Artist Pro 16 (Gen 2) I have a question. I connected the tablet to the USB-C on the computer and the second cable to the power supply. I don't have a screen, it says this:
XP-PEN startup screen, then no-signal, power-saving.
What can i do? 😢 I dont have 3 in 1 cable.
Is your computer's USB-C able to output video? If you happen to have a phone or tablet with USB-C port that can output video, you can test those with the xppen.

1. Your USB-C port cannot output video. So you will need the 3-1 cable
2. Cable connection is loose
3. Pen display is faulty
If you are sure the pen display is working, then you will need the 3-1 cable for HDMI video

16 provides better experience since the display is larger and resolution higher. So the UI for drawing apps is bigger and you get more spacious size to work with. Both pen displays are good at their respective prices

If you dont mind me asking that question (again), but which one do you recommend? The XPPen Artist Pro 16 gen2 or the Kamvas Pro 16 2.5k? I want to get one of those for my wife for christmas, but can't really decide. Is the 16:10 and 16k sensitivity on the XPPen the selling point? I don't quite understand that, since I draw like I built rockets. I dont. My wife works in a small game developer startup as an animator/media designer. She used to draw on Wacom Tablets when she studied, but I'm sorry, those are way to expensive for me.. I read both your reviews and watched both videos but I'm really torn here 😅
Both pen displays are very sensitive. 16K in real life is not significantly more sensitive even though the number is 2 times more. So drawing performance for both is quite similar. I prefer the XPPen because of the 16:10 aspect ratio and the cable connect seems more durable. The Huion has hotkeys if you use hotkeys. Anyway, when you're on the keyboard for keyboard shortcuts, hotkeys are not that necessary.

Those pen computers are gonna be quite expensive. Anyway, another company will be launching a pen computer soon on Kickstarter and I will be reviewing that maybe this month or in October.
As someone who had MobileStudio PRO 16 in the highest configuration, I do not recommend a pen computer and I wouldn't buy it again.
Do you know if this tablet get scratch easily, do you recommended getting a screen protector with it?
It's glass surface, a ceramic, so it's unlikely for the plastic/felt nib to scratch. And since this won't be used outdoorrs, it's unlikely to get anything onto the screen to scratch it.

Tablet will use its own resolution, or you can change the UI scaling

How does this compare to the xp pen 14 pro gen 2 if ever? Is it just the screen size?
14 seems to have slightly better pen performance when I tested it. But minor difference overall except for display size

you forgot to mention the switch to pen tablet mode. then again i think most display tablets have that. this model DOES tempt me because its size is small enough (compared to 21 & 24 in wide ones) that i can see mysekf switching from display to/from pen tablet mode (for the sake of ny neck & back ofc 😅)

The weight is not listed. From what I can tell, it's around the weight of a 15-inch laptop. It's not considered heavy, but it's solid build.

Comes down to how much table space you have. If you want to use it as main and only display, maybe bigger is better

Oh, so bigger is better? Is the pixel difference big of a deal between them? The only thing that's bothering me is, if I get a 16 inch and it still feels like a cramped up display for the softwares I'll use and I'll keep zooming in.
I ended up getting this one over the 22 with FHD and it's absolutely gorgeous! I love the resolution and size compared to the 13 inch that I had for 4 years. It's absolutely an upgrade for me!

Xp-pen uses a laminated display. These get scratches. Look it up with the wc16. You'll definitely need to find a screen protector?
A laminated display means there's no gap between the glass and LCD beneath. Laminated display and the material used to create the display are not related.
If you mean matte screen protector, this pen display is not using that since it's using matte glass.

Hi. Which one should i choose, the pro 14 2nd or this pro 16 2nd. The difference between those two that i see is the screen size and resolution. Which one do u recomend me to get? In terms of value for money, the 14 is better simply because of the lower price point. 16 is good if you have more budget. Resolution is higher and screen is bigger hence drawing experience is better.

Xppen Artist Pro 2nd gen, easily, because I am a big fan of 16:10 aspect ratio.

@@Shadowthevampire Common display aspect ratios are 16:9 (wide), 16:10 (less wide), followed by 3:2 (best). For work purposes, with a small display, it's best to get an aspect ratio that is less wide. For explanation, see this video ruclips.net/video/HPYK5uDfms8/видео.html
As for drawing performance, the tech for pen displays has matured so nowadays most pen displays have rather similar pen performance so you can choose based on other features, in this case aspect ratio is why I choose xppen.

@@Shadowthevampire It's not that Huion has bad aspect ratio, it's 16:10 is better than 16:9 (Huion). And 3:2 is better than 16:10, but it does not mean 16:10 is bad.

Im lucky to have one, but also unlucky to not have the three way cable. Have to wait two weeks till it get here.

In the version i got none, also they made the hole shorter, so most docks wont fit, clever for them to force you buy it. Even the cable from 16tp wouldnt fit. And in the other usbc wont work.

The 3-in-1 cable seemed to ship as a freebie for the 16” when it first shipped and during the XP-Pen 18th Anniversary Celebration, which was between Aug 16 and Sep 16. I ordered my 16” during this period and I did receive the 3-in-1 cable. The 3-in-1 cable appeared as a freebie on the order page (on XP-Pen’s website) when I order the Artist Pro 16” (2nd Gen). In the USA, I recommend ordering directly from XP-Pen’s website because orders over 50 USD or 100 USD (I forget which) gets you free shipping and no State Tax (whereas if it sells on Amazon you usually will be paying State Tax).

Your computer will be able to show more content instead of cutting off content. Cut off happens when you move from bigger screen to smaller screen.

the screen will not stretch the picture to 16:10 format if the picture on the main screen is 16:9? I want to use the main screen for links, and this one for drawing. But I'm wondering what the desktop will look like on this screen? compressed, stretched or oberez? for me, it's probably very important that I don't move icons on the desktop for each monitor.

@teohontech7141 these new models are not available in my country as of yet. I will have to import it. I found pro 14 weighs about 1.41kg but didn't find weight information off pro 16, could you please tell me how much does the pro 16 weigh ??

Kamvas 22 Plus is still a really good pen display by today's standard because visual quality of that screen is really good. So the main difference between these two really comes down to size and resolution, and how much table space you have.

I have a question: this tablet is on sale for 500 dollars, but their 16tp tablet with touch, which is normally 900 dollars, is on sale for just around 530. Should I get this tablet or the 16tp which is on a MASSIVE sale? The 16tp is older than this tablet, so I need to know if there are crucial specs it is missing, or which one is overall better.

There are actually a good number of things in the box, including the "pen case". This looks super nice, but I already bought a 10" model from XP-pen (Artist 10 Gen 2), so an upgrade from that is far away for me.
I feel like XP-pen tablets just need touch support to make it probably even better than Wacom. I'm not familiar with using hotkeys... I prefer using my fingers to use on-screen buttons and zoom in and out.
Touch will be a bonus feature for sure. But currently there aren't many apps that really utilise touch features the way Procreate does with the many gesture shortcuts that are supported.
For most drawing apps on windows, touch just means pan, zoom and rotate.
Touch will benefit those who use apps designed for Windows tablets in the first place.

It's good. Colour's accuracy will depend on calibration. Default calibration from factory looks alright

Thanks for the detailed review. I am wondering about the brightness. On the website XP Pen claims a brightness of 250 nits for this specific tablet. You mentioned 170 nits.
Was this your own measurement for the USB C cable only setup ? May this depend on whether one uses WIndows or Mac ?
It's just 170 nits even with a power cable connected directly to the pen display. Real world brightness is usually 20% off the advertised brightness unfortunately. So I'm not surprised as someone who has reviewed too many pen display.

I've been using a tablet without a screen for 7 years. I'm afraid to watch these models because of the delay and lags. They are very visible on all the models on RUclips. I like to paint very quickly, for example with oil paint, but I want to try it on the screen. What do you suggest?
I have reviewed many products and I don’t think I have ever seen any tablet without latency.
Even the best latency from iPad Pro and latest Samsung tablets will still have latency.

Is color calibration really needed ? First of all, I do not have the skills to make this properly and, also, the XP Pen site suggests that the calibration should be OK right out of the box.
Colours look good out of the box so colour calibration isn't necessary. I calibrate because I need the colours on this display to match my laptop and my desktop monitor.
