Your videos are gonna cost me! I went to the HD after watching this and picked up some 4" black PVC and plexiglass to make a "finder tube" today. Also putting some high power white LEDs on the side just in case. DIY for the win, Chris!
Haha it’s a prehistoric tool, designed to keep you in the shop to do work. The later descendants of this tool became wandering nomads, evolving to lose the home tether cord…
Well, the bucket without the plexiglass worked better in slower water due to the turbulence boiling up into the viewing area in fast current, and in bright sunlight both buckets had glare if the sun shone right into it. So for faster water the plexiglass was better, and in bright sunlight there was glare in both, so polarized sunglasses are a must!
Hi Melissa. We tested the buckets with, and without plexiglas. It was easier to see without the plexiglas adding another layer of reflection. But if the sun was directly overhead you had a glare in both buckets. Next we’ll work on something to shield the top of the bucket from full sun, like an umbrella or something. If we figure out something that works really good, we’ll post another video. Thanks for your question!
