Good comments. My only previous experience with spring bars was on an Omega moonwatch where they eventually became a bit loose. I drilled through the lugs and fitted solid bars and stitched on velcro for the strap. Very comfortable! Thanks for the info.
Nice JB Champ strap. Is that vintage, or a Com-Fit ramake? I want to get the mesh version for my Speedy. I have a couple of Bulova Archive Collection watches. They drilled the lug holes so close to the body of the watch, I can only use the thinnest of spring bars. Even then, some straps won't fit.
do you ever notice a clicking sound when twisting your wrist from the spring bars? I usually wear watches with bracelets but I have a perlon strap on a Tudor with lug holes that keeps clicking and bugs the hell out of me. I have a steel bracelet coming and I hope that will stop the clicking sound. also it's hard to find 19mm spring bars and the shipping costs more than the spring bars
Why don't you use micrometer, or vernier to measure the dia of the spring bar. That aside ... a decent spring bar will cost you $10 for a pair, not $10 for a box of 50. As far as sizes a concerned? I wouldn't buy anything less than 1.8mm dia for Speedy. Bent spring bars are intended for straps that are curved at the lug end.

Title of video says "Broken Spring Bar 1.5mm VS 1.8mm" and there was no 1.5mm in this video
Bent spring bars are a thing so maybe the bent ones were on purpose, if they were all in the same section.
Quick release should become an industry standard.

Upon removal The end of a spring bar broke off and is stuck in the hole. Nothing to grab on to it broke below the the hole line. Any tips?
Small drill
You're known in your neighborhood as "the guy who wears a volcano on his wrist", don't you? Is it an Omega or just the bracelet?
