  • Know the interesting things about the most used gas in electrical industry i.e. SF6 gas.
    10,000 tons of SF6 gas is produced per year, out of that 8,000 tons gas is used in electrical industries. And, hence it is very important to have detail info about SF6 gas but, we have very few. Know beyond what we have written in the exams about sf6 gas. Get introduce with SF6 gas practically only by watching this video.

    I would sure love to use it in place of helium for TIG welding. It can probably get an arc hot enough like hydrogen.
    Imagine if atomic hydrogen welders used SF6 in WW2.

    Very informative thank you but one other interesting thing about sf6 is that it is 24,000 times worse than carbon is as far as greenhouse gases go for the environment.

    SF6 gas in its pure state does not pose a health risk other then dissipating oxygen in a closed room. that being said, the extinguishing SF6 gas poses a serious health risk which could result in death. If the SF6 gas breaks an arc producing a temp > 385F it changes the chemical compounds to S2F10 = SF5, along with other compounds. For this reason it is important to monitor circuit breaker pressure in case of a failure. No the hazards if you are going to be working with this gas.

    You said that if arc happens it work as good conductor explain . after breakdown of sf6 gas which gas formed.

      arcs ionize the medium gas they occur in, ionized gases(aka plasma) are good conductors regardless of the type of gas (air, sf6, fluorine , etc), it may help you to google plasma tho.

    How liquid SF6 again converted to Gas?

    • @GauravJ
      @GauravJ  5 лет назад +1

      When temperature of the liquid sf6 increases it gets converted into to gas again.

    • @benamimanush1891
      @benamimanush1891 5 лет назад +2

      the gas can be liquefied by reaching -40 degree C. But during transportation or storage you can't maintain -40 degree. I think pressure has something to do here

    So if you have a layer of sf6 in the atmosphere it would be impossible for a rocket to pass through that layer....

    • @tarponmonkey39
      @tarponmonkey39 5 лет назад

      No, when SF6 is released into the atmosphere it breaks down due to exposure to moisture and air and mixes with other gases in the atmosphere, greatly reducing its arc-quenching ability. You would not find a homogenous layer of SF6 in the atmosphere.

    is there a danger of sf6 gas in humans?

    • @kuwaitupdates631
      @kuwaitupdates631 2 года назад +1

      Sf6 is not danger for human beings but you can handle every where but when you filling gas in compartment ovaid from breathing because sf6 is 5 times heavier than air if sf6 gas goes in lungs then can effect human.

    Is sf6 gas toxic

  • @ace50cal1

    1 pound of sf6 is equivalent to 26000 pounds of c02....just saying...

    • @mozit6
      @mozit6 Год назад

      ok, but how much is released in environment compared to co2............so it needs to be 26k less volume released to be equal in effect to co2

    • @luciusirving5926

      Better than CO2 for tungsten rods in GTAW.
