    Additional Information:
    On the education side, Spangler started his career as a science teacher in the Cherry Creek School district for 12 years. Today, Steve travels extensively training teachers in ways to make learning more engaging and fun. His hands-on science boot camps and summer institutes for teachers inspire and teach teachers how to prepare a new generation for an ever-changing work force. Over the last 15 years, he has also made more than 500 television appearances as an authority on hands-on science and inquiry-based learning.
    On the business side, Spangler is the founder and CEO of Steve Spangler Science, a Denver-based company specializing in the creation of educational toys and kits and hands-on science training services for teachers. The companys unique business strategies and viral creations have been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Inc. Magazine, Wired and TIME Magazine where online readers voted Steve Spangler #18 in the Top 100 Most Influential People of the Year for 2006 (what were they thinking?). You'll find more than 140 Spangler created products available online at SteveSpanglerScience.com and distributed to toy stores and mass-market retailers worldwide.
    Spangler joined NBC affiliate 9News in 2001 as the science education specialist. His weekly experiments and science segments are designed to teach viewers creative ways to make learning fun. His now famous Mentos Geyser experiment, turning 2-liter bottles of soda into erupting fountains, became an Internet sensation in September 2005 when thousands of people started posting their own Mentos explosions on RUclips.com.
    As founder of SteveSpanglerScience.com, Spangler and his design team have developed more than 140 educational toys and science-related products featured by mass-market retailers like Target, Wal-Mart, Toys R' Us, Discovery Channel Stores and over 1,400 independent specialty toy stores. His educational science catalog and on-line business offers more than a thousand science toys and unique learning resources. Recently, Spangler has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Inc. Magazine, WIRED, the History Channel, Food Network and TIME Magazine where on-line readers voted Steve Spangler #18 in the Top 100 Most Influential People of the Year for 2006.
    His recent appearances on the Ellen DeGeneres Show have taught viewers how to blow up their food, shock their friends, create mountains of foam, play on a bed of nails, vanish in a cloud of smoke and how to turn 2,500 boxes of cornstarch and a garden hose into a swimming pool of fun.

      Fun fact: your body's favourite gas is carbon monoxide because it absorbs into your blood far more readily than oxygen. Unfortunately it is also quite deadly which goes to show that we sometimes don't know what's best for us 😕

    Just so everybody knows... Try not to inhale too much because sulfur hexaflouride is toxic. You will also notice that your voice will stay deep for a long time with just one inhalation. The reason is that it is 6 times denser than air, making it sink to the bottom of your lungs. Just exhale until there is no more air in your lungs and you will be back to normal!

    Sulfur Hexafluoride vs Helium

  • @CaMoreno3
    @CaMoreno3 13 лет назад +1

    @cloakofclouds He's not wrong. Weight is basically a measure of the force of gravity, and it positively correlates with density. If something is more dense, it will be heavier than something of the same volume in relation to the Earth (or other body with significant gravity). Sure density is constant, and may be more precise, but using weight to describe it is definitely not wrong.

    People who get the great idea of inhaling Sulfur Hexafluoride to get that deep funny voice, be careful with it... specially when giving it to your kids. The gas is much, much heavier than air and you won't be able to get it all out of your lungs unless you stand on your hands head down. I'm not trolling, I'm saying this cause some people might get hurt if they don't do their research properly. :)

    • @07logiebear
      @07logiebear 10 лет назад +22

      The turbulence experienced by elements of fluid in your lungs mixes gas of variable density and the heavy gas would be expelled by entrainment :) I'm studying chem eng and this is how we ensure effective mixing of emulsions consisting of different density liquids and design 2 phase reactors

    It's totally inert and nontoxic. You breathe in deep afterwards and breathe out to remove it from your lungs. If you breathe it too much, you do not risk poisoning, you risk asphyxiation. Meaning, your lungs will be full of something that isn't oxygen, which will of course prevent you from getting the oxygen you need. The same is true of helium.

    Yeah it's all fun and giggles but the important thing that he forgets to mention is that, unless you don't stand upside down for a few seconds, the gas will remain in your lungs forever do to it being heavier then air so it will never come out the normal way AND you lungs will take less oxiden in..

    • @dougscott8136
      @dougscott8136 10 лет назад +36

      I think that all you really need to do it take a few fast deep breaths of air to swirl the gas around in your lungs, and it will expel the heavier than air gas as long as you exhale fast as well with little to no delay between inhale and exhale. The less gas there is, the easier it is to get it moving around on a fast inhale.
      Point is while you are correct in initial logic, standing on your head is not the only solution.
