Your project turned out beautifully 👍👏❤️ When I lost my grandmother everyone was cleaning out her things and I didn't want to see anything get thrown away - I took a bag of old costume jewelry that noone wanted - it was in my attic, one day my kids had friends over and they went up to the attic and had fun breaking the jewelry and throwing the beads everywhere up there🤷....once it was all retrieved, I decided to make three kissing balls with the old jewelry beads and chains sticking them into styrofoam balls with pearl topped pins and beautiful ribbon- I kept one and gifted the other two to both of my sisters - honestly it was a much better use of grandma's old jewelry, before it was in a bag in the attic! Each year at Christmas, I would hang the kissing ball....now I've decided to keep it up all year long! Blessings
Very inspiring. I found your tutorial while searing for a video yo make a vintage jewelry encrusted cross to hang on a wall as gifts for my daughters. Love the way you repurposed the colorful canvas. It turned out lovely. So nice that you shared your memories as well. I'll will follow you and watch for more of your projects. FYI.. I found the base for the crosses at Hobby Lobby.
I have been making items from vintage jewelry for several years, it is so fun and they turn out so beautiful. My inspiration is from my grandmother who displayed her beautiful jewelry on a frame with covered board that she could take on and off. I can see them in my memories 60 years later. Although most of my creations are more 3 dimensional rather than flat, all beautiful!
Absolutely beautiful!!! I've been wanting to do this for a few years now with my mom's jewelry from the 50's and 60's. I am wanting to also make a Christmas 🎄 with jewels to sit on a side table at Christmas. .
I’ve never made anything like this, but I have often thought about it. During the 1950’s, my creative grandma made a large candle ring out of plywood completely covered with old costume jewelry and pearl and rhinestone buttons and earrings. It was beautiful in the middle of her dining room table, with a large ivory colored candle in the center. I never knew what happened to it, but when gram moved to a nursing home, my uncle-her son-cleaned out her house and threw practically everything away, including most of her antiques! I wasn’t around to stop him!
I always called my Grandmother, Gram, also. Just thought it was neat you do too. She would have been 100 this year but left us at 96. I was her only grandchild. In addition to all of the jewelry, a TON of buttons also needed a new home when she passed. I've been brainstorming ways to use them all up. Maybe this same idea...but with buttons?!
I'm new to your channel and love it! Your jewelry shadow box is gorgeous! Thank you for walking us through the steps on how to create this. I look forward to checking out your other videos.
How coincidental that you posted this. I have been going through my mother's old costume jewelry and gust decided to make a red, white and blue flower garden from some her brooches. I hope to have it finished in a few days!
I've seen these as a Christmas tree and a BIG one as Texas state shape. I loved them and want to make one. I've never seen a video on making them before. I LOVE how you used the 3-tier necklace for the basket!!! I'm not sure if I'm creative enough to make one that looks so good! But someday I will try! I have boxes of costume jewelry for use in my junk journals. I love your STYLE. Everything you make is so pretty!!! TFS. Austin TX USA
I would be leary of using glue on grandmas jewelry that is sentimental to me.... However I wonder if I can loop wire from behind the canvas into the jewelry as not to ruin it with the glue? How do you think that would work?
Gorgeous! Great idea. Did you just use regular hot glue to secure the jewels? I want to try something like this and want the pieces to stick to a canvas i have painted with acrylic paint. I wonder if hot glue would work or not for my project ?
I love your idea. I just received jewelry from my mother and grandmother. I could do something similar. What glue did you use? I was thinking of E6000 but you are using something different.
My spouse had a friend whose daughter did this art technique. I admired the pieces her parents hung on their walls. Such a talent! We've lost touch with them. However, I have old jewelry that I will never wear again, and I know my family wouldn't want any of the pieces either. Is there a group that also does this style art that would be able to use my old jewelry for their projects? I'm not selling, just want to give it away so it can be repurposed.
Newby subscriber here 👋. I have recently acquired a few big zip lock bags full of vintage jewelry. I've loved this idea from afar...but very reluctant to try it. Thank you for giving me the inspiration to try.✌️
Did any of the pieces come loose? Many people who create art with old jewelry say that they only use E6000 glue. But E6000 is not very thick and the jewelry doesn't take hold quickly so it takes forever to finish anything 😢

I would use e6000 instead of hot glue.

Thanks so much, Josi!!

Maybe you could recreate something similar?💕💕
