I gotta say I do like this truck I think this would make a perfect starter truck for anyone looking to get started or just to have fun with rc thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you for the great review. I own two slash clones the Remo Hobby emu 9 and the Huanqi 727 all parts traxxas fit and their great rc cars with the same traxxas slash shortfalls
It looked like every aspect tested was one of those you hoped was going to be ok,but then fell short. Speed, looks, jumping, landing etc. You could probably live with 1, maybe 2 flaws but this was like on everything. As others and yourself stated there are better in that range so from a sales perspective it will have a tough time. At least though it's another I can remove from any potential purchase ☺️. Great vid as usual Phil.
Great bashing and review, Tomley! 😃 Honestly, it seems like the issue is that it's too heavy. If it was a lighter model... It could be much faster and controllable. But I guess it's easier to change its motor. I bet you can transform it into a little beast! 😬 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Biggest issue is some of their plastic parts are weak and need to improve the diffs. But my zmt10 is a good truck over all for bashing. You should get a CEN Reeper, it would be an awesome build to video and make a mod run
2:55 in my experience, if you charge li-po batteries with those cheap charges instead of professional ones (like i-max b6) the battery will have less punch
I think your right on on this one Phil! $200 is a bit steep for this. Don’t know why Remo hobby seems to be going with that “chunky” “cartoony” look on there trucks lately, but I’m not sold on it. I’m not a big fan of the big controller any more either. I find it hard to drive and get decent footage with it. Otherwise, I like these platforms and what they are running them with! Good job on this one, if I had this on my channel, it wouldn’t be a BANG For Your Buck Winner either.
I have pretty much every Traxxas in their lot. I'm slowly leaving the Traxxas fandom, they are all I've had. Back in the day they were amazing. But now, I'm not so sure. I have issues with everyone, the E Revo coming straight out that box and not being able to do a wheelie, did it for me a Traxxas.
Looks really good but I worry about part support with these brands. Especially being in the states. The way I look at it is should I spend 220 on this or 319 on a arrma senton??
Remo actually used to make a complete clone of the Slash. It was the model 1021 I think. Pretty much fully interchangeable with Slash parts. Huanqi made one too which I have (model 727) which is also 99.9% the same and tough as nails. You could get them for about £100 at one point then chuck in a £40 brushless combo and you had a poor mans VXL Looks like even China isn't safe from the Traxxas lawyers though as they appear to have become very difficult to obtain outside of China.
Looks about the same size as the Maverick Strada SC Phil, I wasn't impressed with the plastic on them. Hopefully, this has a better plastic than the Maverick has.
This is a tough one, 200 bux is alot of money for a subpar slash copy, but...it does have 4wd, and it is brushless, and it has ok range, but its slow as poop..

Hello there Everyone and Tomely I just have a question for everybody and Tomely too about what nitro rc should I get for a beginner and which I can easily get spares for. Thanks 🙏
Hpi rush evos are quite old, but they are very easy to drive, extremely easy to work on, and the plastics are very durable/crash resistant. I had one hit the wall at around 40mph and it only damaged the servo saver.
Hey tomley I have a majorly serious questions for you. You said the mmax is compatible with traxxas parts which ones? Diffs gears cvds a arms? Me and my bro wanna pick a couple of these up bash em and upgrade and if traxxas diffs and gears fit Im all for it thank you for your time sir
Come up with another $200 and get yourself a Redcat Racing Kaiju. You won't be disappointed. Thought of a cheaper one - Arrma Granite 4X4 3S BLX 1/10 RTR Brushless Monster Truck, $299-$319. It's hard to find a really great sub-$200 RC that'll take a lot of abuse AND has readily available parts. You've also got to factor in LiPo batteries and a good hobby grade charger. Some RTR's will come with NiMH batteries, but to get the most out of them you really need LiPo's. And no matter what you get, depending on how hard you drive it, it's going to break and unless you plan on working on it yourself, that could get pretty expensive as well. Though, admittedly, I find tinkering on them to be half the fun. I've purchased numerous brushed RC's, ran them until either the motor or ESC burns up, and then installed a brushless combo ( I highly recommend the Surpass Hobbies Platinum 4370Kv Brushless Motor and ESC Combo - $45) in them. I had a Brushed Redcat Racing Blackout SCT ($155) that I'd installed a Spektrum 4S brushless system in thinking I'd send it out in a blaze of glory, but to my surprise it actually held up - clocking in at 63mph! So, maybe you could go that route if you don't mind having to do some wrenching. Good luck, hope you find what you're looking for.
I won a Redcat at a raffle, and quickly realized why it was given away. It was with my other 40 cars for about a month. After taking the front end apart 3 or 4 times because the A-arms kept popping apart after very minor crashes. Bumpers are 1/3 the thickness of Traxxas bumpers, as is the rest of the car. I gave it to a neighbor. REDCATS ARE GARBAGE. P.S. Also the ONLY car or truck I have ever gotten rid of.
