Burton's Step On system has been in full rotation since 2017, and now it's in use by tens of thousands of snowboarders worldwide. We dive into how it works, and address the number one question about it: How does it work in powder?
The short of it: it works really well!

They've been out there for a while. Traditional bindings are still the go-to.

if they suck oh well. im so tired of strapping in and messing with micro adjustments. my plantar fasciitis has become pretty brutal. ill try anything to make my days on the mountain a tad easier.

They don't suck. They're great. I've run them since 2018 and won't go back to traditional bindings( I even tried once...I hated how sluggish and restrictive they felt). I've ridden them in every kind of condition as well, even heli boarding. Even the guides liked them better as they help the board fit better in the basket of the heli. I also have the step on splits and they make regular splitboard bindings seem like a joke. If you're going to buy them I'd recommend keeping 4 things in mind- 1. due to the way they attach to the boot they are much stiffer laterally than regular bindings, they are also far more responsive 2. Also because of how they attach to the boot, you don't need a stiff boot to get response...so think about a softer boot 3. Because the provide so much leverage over the board, due to almost zero slop, it's much easier to over power the deck. It's worth considering a slightly stiffer board. and 4. You will be clicking in waaaay faster than your friends, so be patient and prepare to wait...it's not their fault, they just don't know any better.
Don't listen to all the dogmatic BS about what gear you should ride. Snowboarding was meant to be a more individual, accessible ,and self expressive sport than skiing. It's sad to see so much regressive small mindedness in it nowadays. Ride what and with whom you like and have fun.

Could be great for split boarding or for guys with bad backs. But burton constantly trying to push it to park/advanced riders is kinda wild to me.
Not really worth for ppl who ride 100+ days a year and need new boots each season. The boots are more expensive than regular boots, and i can replace straps but not those latches.
