I really enjoy Alex Leaf´s way of explaining. He is precise and not afraid of stopping to speak when everything is already been said, instead of reapeating iterations of the point he just made 👍
thank you Ari. This is not theoretical for me as an 83 yr old woman. I do have sarcopenia and back fractures. I find I have had to increase my protein so as not to go backwards. These vegan people would have you believe otherwise. I am not overweight and have not fallen. Adding fish, poultry, and eggs to my diet. Lots of beans but know they are enough.
Always so grateful for your information Ari. You are so solid in your knowledge and I really trust your help in trying to navigate all the disparities out there. Much appreciated!!
Awesome talk Ari. Love your Work!! Is it possible that chronic stress (freeze & shutdown) and the overactivation of the cdr can make the body more prone to use fat as fuel downregulating the use of glucose? 🤔
I'm not making an overall judgment on time restricted feeding, but I'll give you a possible reason it could be bad for cardio events. If you look for a couple of videos on YT entitled "Survival of the Smartest" by Diana Schwarzbein , she'll tell you about a diabetes drug trial that lowered insulin, but had to be stopped early due to heart attacks. She then shows that as late as 2007 we didn't understand all the pathways that insulin follows. Turns out, that insulin initiates nitric oxide production/release. Thus, prolonged fasting equals lower insulin equals lower nitic oxide equals narrowing of arteries, equals cardiac events. That's my reasoning anyway. Obviously this depends on the individual.
Interesting points. Of course the results of trials like this don't tell us so much because we don't know what can be put down to the unintended side-effects of the drugs, rather than the main action. Also the effect on NO needs to be considered over time - long-term vs short-term.
I just finished listening to this again because there was so much great information. Alex and Ari, can you take on the topic of menopausal weight gain being due to hormonal imbalance? (this is all over instragram with supplements making promises to "balance your hormones."). Why does belly fat suddenly appear at menopause? What is the real solution? Another topic I'd love to hear about is set point. Does the body truly have a set point, and if you are over weight for too long, it will try to revert back to that set point? I have a little feeling that this is also another myth that needs busting... Thanks for all you do. Such helpful information!
I dont know about "athletes" always looking robust, runners generally look not so robust, very lean and yet a lot still can be tofi and have heart problems, despite leanness.
I did not hear any speculation that many people in the '/normal/' eating window of 12-16 hours may possibly die of a large host of diseases before their hearts give out, whereas, many of those in time-restricted eating windows avoid the other killers and die naturally of old age.;
It would be helpful the go through a more accessible list of goto tips or guidance. This wasn’t that helpful. Just so much info but some of it everyone already knows like how much protein to eat/resistance training etc What else can we do??
Alex has a program, The Fat Loss Blueprint, where this knowledge is solidified into practise for those who want to get their body composition on track.
A lot of holes in this discussion! What kind of fat are they talking about here? I am East Asian and I can reassure you that in a high carbs extremely liw fat diet, I still looked lean, wasn't classified as obese by an stretch of imagination, but I was skinny fat as the rest of the east Asian with central obesity and very metaphorically sick. In a high insulin environment, metabolic rate drops so don't even say that carbs is thermogenic.

Interesting, out-of-the-box compliment.
What a great podcast! It clarifies a lot of false information out there! Great job, Alex!
World class! Rock solid science!
This was excellent! It really clarified many of my questions. Thank you so much!!!

You're welcome, Paulette! :)
I love all of your blueprint presentation of concrete facts from reliable sources. Excellent! Well done!
It was Lay’s potato chips with the tagline: “Bet you can’t eat just one!” 😉
You're right! I think Pringles was "once you pop you can't stop" or something along those lines.

Yes
Excellent

You mentioned this last week. It's been noted. :)
@@TheEnergyBlueprintoh did I? I guess I also need help with my memory…

I don't think I can respond usefully without knowing more about the word, "tofi". Maybe it's a typo.
I’m assuming this means ‘thin outside, fat inside’
I did not hear any speculation that many people in the '/normal/' eating window of 12-16 hours may possibly die of a large host of diseases before their hearts give out, whereas, many of those in time-restricted eating windows avoid the other killers and die naturally of old age.;
I think Alex was careful to avoid generalisations of that sort.
Good work guys 👏🏾! Keep it up !
Thank you! Will do!

Exercising with resistance training most days as we discussed in this podcast?
