tbh she makes some really good points in this video like washing under your nails, only going out in the sun occasionally and with spf, and making sure you don’t strip your oily skin. however, i would recommend being more gentle with the towel after using the oil cleanser
how do you literally avoid the sun though? like you gotta live a little. put some spf on and go outside. we're all meant to get a bit damaged, that's life
She seems so real like literally a friend talking to you about their skin care. So many celebrity skin care routines have 30 steps with products that cost your entire bank account. So it’s refreshing to see someone have a normal amount of steps with decent priced products that actually work. Plus finally someone I can relate to with oily skin!!!
As far as skin care routines go, this is actually not bad. We've definitely seen worse from people who claimed to be more knowledgeable than her. I wish she'd switch out Bioderma micellar water with a proper cleanser. No matter what the packaging says, it's always better to wash off your micellar water. It's meant to remove the makeup and dirt, not stay on your face overnight. And a little less rubbing with that towel. Her face was really red at one point...
Agreed! But that's just a thing you do when you're young I think. You think your skin is resilient and you get a bit reckless. When I was younger I used this white pasty scrub on my dry face (it was meant to be used on wet skin) and rubbed and rubbed... Until my mom saw me and was like... WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU'RE RUBBING YOUR SKIN AWAY. I'm much gentler to my skin now, but that's just because I'm approaching 30 and I know it's better to be gentler always.
Galadriel of Lorien agreed. This was one of the few skincare routines that I didn’t hate. Maybe the Sunday Riley oil should have gone after the moisturiser but I haven’t checked the ingredients so... She really won me over when she said at the start of the video that if she does anything wrong let her know. I luv that attitude of always being willing to learn.
+when you use oil cleansing method then u use wet (yeah, she used dry) towel after applying it. idk if she was harsh, it always seems like harsh on the videos but it doesnt have to feel that way in reality
@SrtaMelzinha i didn't say you have to use a towel but if you're using oil cleansing method then this is one of the steps xd and i wrote that u need to use wet towel (when girl from the video used the dry one first)
Ok so I love how you said correct me if I'm wrong, this is great. Now I will point these out. First things first I love that you used an oil cleanser. But please don't rub your face with that towel it's too harsh. First get some water on your hands and massage your face. The oil will emulsify and turn milky. Then wash it off. It will take off your makeup so much easier. I wouldn't personally use Micellar water, instead I would go for a gentle water based cleanser, makes sure that you took of all the oil and 1% makeup that is left (small chance). Also I would use the oil last (thin to thick) but it has salicylic acid in it which is an active so I'm not 100% sure about that one. Overall I really like her routine and love that she's so informed about it. Very happy she uses sunscreen. Great job Zara 💯
uhhh i have an oil cleanser and it doesnt turn very milky?? like i add a bit of water but it just doesnt do much then when i try to wash it off i get left off with a lot of the makeup residue and then it ends up getting wiped off with a towel. am i doing something wrong?
@@RebelianAngie I'd recommend a few pumps of oil cleanser into clean dry hands to dry unwashed face, massage to break up SPF, makeup, dirt, etc. Add water to emulsify. Rinse with cool water.
Love that she mentions that she washes her hands first. Starting off with a clean hand. Would prefer her to wash off the cleansing oil instead of wiping it off. Instead of micellar water a gentle second cleanser would be better. All the wiping is so harsh. Gentle patting motions! Really simple routine.
This is my first time hearing about her, but I adore her now. This is one of the more decent routines I’ve seen haha, I haven’t looked into the products so I don’t know about them individually. I will say that it’d be good to use a gel cleanser after the oil cleanser, and also to rinse off the micellar water! Micellar water usually contains surfactants (I think?) that can dry out and strip the skin. But in general micellar water isn’t really a sufficient second cleanser.
I really like how she invited everyone to give her feedback on her skincare routine. Like it's the first time I've seen. The oil is great but I would recommend rubbing the oil more gently especially around your eyes. I can see the eyes turning really red after using the towel to get the oil off. Instead of the towel, try wetting your face after that. You will feel the makeup become much less adhered to your skin as well. This is called emulsification and it's more gentle than using the towel where you're using too much force to tug at your skin. Instead of micelles water, I would recommend a good actual cleanser. Micellar water is designed to remove makeup with micelles, but it does not help to clean your face. One good one is the krave matcha cleanser. Also, again I think she used too much force with the cotton pad cuz her face is turning red. I usually use toners with chemical exfoliants on a cotton pad and hydrating toners using my hands so that I can actually see the leftover gunk I'm wiping away. I wouldn't recommend using a moisturiser that doubles as makeup primer for the nighttime cuz usually they contain ingredients such as silicone to make the skin feel smoother to the touch, but it can also clogs pores. Especially for her with oily skin, I would rather let her skin breathe at night. Something like cerave moisturiser wouldn't hurt as it's really gentle. Otherwise, I like gel moisturisers for my combination-oily skin as well cuz it's light on my skin. Hope she actually sees this!
Sturm sucks!! nothing should be more than like 50 bucks!! paula's choice is way better. even (most) Cerave!! does sturm still not believe in sunscreen? !!
just remember your neck girl! also add a cleanser! gel cleansers or even basic ones like Cetaphil are great options to ensure everything is off and clean, ready for moisture! i too have oily/acne prone skin and it’s definitely important to keep it clean and moisturised, you’re doing great! cleanse, tone and moisturise, we don’t want no wrinkles! xx
I love Zara. She is really down to earth and not too much fuss about her skin. As long as you taking care of it that's the main point. Yes spf 50 ALWAYS. In sun out of sun
I fear her routine would be far from average as skincare is really not a thing in India. For most of the people good skin simply mean white skin and skin-care starts and ends with fair and lovely. Just my opinion.
@@Cyanide_Mallika That's probably a little too incorrect. Indians do have a lot of DIY skincare techniques which are extremely effective. Yes, the obsession with fair skin is huge, but nowadays urban millenials are embracing their skin in the best way possible and international skincare is doing really really well. Also, Aishwarya Rai would on anyday have a good skincare regime. No matter how much make-up you wear, you can't be THAT flawless without good skincare.

Please don’t use a dry towel to wipe away the oil cleanser... using the towel is perfectly fine but always, always wet it first. You wouldn’t have to use the oil cleanser twice if you used a wet face cloth (Try the Face Halo... they’re so soft and gentle on your skin). Swap out the micellar water for a face wash made specifically for oily skin (One that doesn’t foam so much)
She’s too harsh with the towel, you can clearly see the redness on her skin. Also I feel like she should be massaging the cleansing oil for longer and emulsifying it before rinsing.

@MB I never said her way is wrong I suggested to add a water based cleanser nothing else, and I was not being petty at all. Also after the micellar water she should have at least rinsed the residue then use toner. Which will make the toner more effective.
Aleen A All Micellar water products have oil in it that’s why the name means oil encapsulated in water so it’s not actually a real water based cleanser🤗
Commenting just watching after 37sec.. she is way better than others having horrible skin care regime.. at least she acknowledges that she could be wrong.. another thing... Such a gorgeous nail Color....😘😘
You should be using the facial oil last since it’s the thickest consistency, so moisturizer then facial oil. The oil is thick so it won’t let your moisturizer seep through and actually go into your skin.
It´s better to apply your face oil áfter your moisturizer, so that the occlusive layer of oil seals in everything you've applied beneath it, like your creams. Used the other way around, the oil will only prevent the moisturizer from sinking into your skin and actually moisturize :)
i wouldn’t rub with the towel, wash off oil with water then pat to dry, you can create micro tears in the skin as well as speed up the aging process when you tug.
I would definitely recommend switching out the regular towel for a microfiber towel if you like that feel of patting your face off from the water or product that you used with water. “I do to” it is a lot more gentle. A couple of gentle cleanser i really like are CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser and the Mad Hippie Gentle Cleanser. The Miceller water needs to be rinsed off because what it is is simply soapy water but a proper cleanser is a better way to go. I would also recommend either the Foreyo Cleansing Device or the Clarisonic for a deeper clean if you switch to a proper cleanser. Lastly the moisturizer, please switch to either the CeraVa PM Daily Moisturizer or something Fancier is the KateSomierville Goat Milk Moisturizer. Something without silicons because silicones trick your hair and skin into looking and feeling softer and healthier.
I think her skincare routine was pretty good but I do recommend a few things... 1. Never use makeup wipes 2. Instead of using the Micellular Water try using an actual cleanser
I would suggest her using either the micellar water or the oil based cleanser because they both serve the same purpose: Taking the makeup off. And then I would replace one of them with a proper facial cleanser. Also, I would suggest not using a towel and wiping off the makeup because it is obvious that the towel is irritating her skin, the instant redness from the towel is evident. Lastly, she needs to do the moisturizer before the face oil since moisturizer cannot penetrate the oil, so the moisturizer is not able to do its job.
Ladies you need to emulsify the oil cleanse! That’s what makes it work, don’t rub with a towel or makeup wipe! 😬 Also you have lovely skin... don’t be so rough!
My advice to you Zara would be to: - replace the micellar water with an actual cleanser to be sure she removes all residue of makeup and oil (since she doesn’t wash it off with water) (also, because you don’t wash micellar water off I feel like it always leaves something on my face and it doesn’t feel as fresh and clean) - be more gentle with her skin (less rubbing with the towel and less tugging when applying the face oil, it feels slippery but we can see that she’s pulling on your skin) - use the face oil as her last step (oil doesn’t penetrate as deep as a moisturizer does so using the latter first will ensure the skin gets the most out of it and then you seal it in with the oil)
the problem with changing up the routine every month is that there are only results showing after 3-4 weeks into using the skincare regiment you choose (I'm also a skincare addict, though hahaha) love that she uses the oil, but be gentle with your skin just like with a baby :) if your skin turns red it means you're causing irritation which can lead to inflammation and early aging (hyperpigmentation etc) when using the cleansing-oil best take a little bit water to emulsify the oil (it turns white) after massaging into the skin to get everything out of it :) what helps me personally is using oils and a lot of lighter moisturizer for my oily skin! when I don't my skin overcompensates and gets oilier.
Wash your face after using micellar water as it has chemicals in it and you don’t wanna leave it on your skin and washing your face twice at night helps acne and gets your skin really clear :) (advice from my modelling agency)
wow Zara you have such a clear flawless skin 😍. I think it would be much better if you're not rubbing your face with towel after the oil cleansing. After oil cleansing, just wash your face with water, just tap the towel on your skin then you can do the miscellar water cleanse or maybe a foam cleanser. After toner, maybe you can try a serum with water based, not an oil based bcoz you have oily skin. Then do the moisturize and the sleeping mask to close your night skincare routine before sleep 😉. Those things i learned from the Korean skincare routine 😄. Oh btw, remember your neck too in every skincare steps 😉
What a sweetheart! Please ditch the towel and micellar water and use a proper cleanser after the oil (excellent for using one btw!). Also use the UFO Oil after moisturizer since it's an occlusive.
She's using the oil correctly. It's a treatment oil so it should be as close to the skin as possible for maximum effectiveness. You're thinking about other oils like rose hip, marula, jojoba etc. If you have a treatment oil, such as vit c, retinol, one with bha, etc, those go first :)
@@WSHarris23 it's still a treatment oil. Of course there's a blend of oils in it, the point, is that it's a TREATMENT whereas jojoba on it's own is not.
I would recommend more humectant in your routine...first Embrolise is more of an emollient than a humectant...you actually need both...I would use oil cleanser then a mild cleansing gel no micellar water you should not need it...toner then a serum with hydraulic acid [HA] the Embrollise then after 15 mins when creams are penetrated the oil...all oily acne-prone skin also needs a mild AHA exfoliation twice a week in the form of a mask or wash. But basically, you are doing very well...much better than many...and you can see you enjoy your skincare ...Good luck!
We started so well with the hand washing, and then... We're still keeping jewellery on, rubbing our face, and not double cleansing.... Honey, your skin won't improve until you put in the work, and do your research!! You have the means!!!!!!!! I know, and I agree, I love buying skincare that might work on me !! Use your oil cleanser and then a water based one, use a toner (or even rose water), get your moisturizer and then oil again !!! you will see the benefits of having a correct routine, not just anything that you liked and you are slapping it on your face...
First. 😉 Who do you want to see in the next episode of #GTBWM?

The oil she used is a treatment oil, so she's using it correctly 🖤
You want your treatments as close to the skin so they are the most effective
@@hollimartin Oh thanks! Didn't know that haha
The Ordinary Niacinimide and Zinc serum savvvvvved my oily skin! And it’s not drying at all
She’s cool and down to earth lol
Finally a proper routine! 😅
i wouldn’t rub with the towel, wash off oil with water then pat to dry, you can create micro tears in the skin as well as speed up the aging process when you tug.
She's beautiful!!!
SHE IS SO FUNNY!
She is sooo cool! I just wanna be her friend!
Thank you for washing your hands (and nails) 😩
WE LOVE THE ACIDS
Oh my god is she beautiful🥰 her skin is so nice
Loved this video
I think her skincare routine was pretty good but I do recommend a few things...
1. Never use makeup wipes
2. Instead of using the Micellular Water try using an actual cleanser
Love don’t pull on your skin! Especially under the eyes you’re skin is so beautiful.
What a sweet, funny and relatable girl!
Also you have lovely skin... don’t be so rough!
My advice to you Zara would be to:
- replace the micellar water with an actual cleanser to be sure she removes all residue of makeup and oil (since she doesn’t wash it off with water) (also, because you don’t wash micellar water off I feel like it always leaves something on my face and it doesn’t feel as fresh and clean)
- be more gentle with her skin (less rubbing with the towel and less tugging when applying the face oil, it feels slippery but we can see that she’s pulling on your skin)
- use the face oil as her last step (oil doesn’t penetrate as deep as a moisturizer does so using the latter first will ensure the skin gets the most out of it and then you seal it in with the oil)
I think she's the first I've seen was her hands first! Yes girl.
the problem with changing up the routine every month is that there are only results showing after 3-4 weeks into using the skincare regiment you choose (I'm also a skincare addict, though hahaha)
love that she uses the oil, but be gentle with your skin just like with a baby :) if your skin turns red it means you're causing irritation which can lead to inflammation and early aging (hyperpigmentation etc)
when using the cleansing-oil best take a little bit water to emulsify the oil (it turns white) after massaging into the skin to get everything out of it :)
what helps me personally is using oils and a lot of lighter moisturizer for my oily skin! when I don't my skin overcompensates and gets oilier.
Wash your face after using micellar water as it has chemicals in it and you don’t wanna leave it on your skin and washing your face twice at night helps acne and gets your skin really clear :) (advice from my modelling agency)
just me that got tingles when she turned on the water at 0:34???
wow Zara you have such a clear flawless skin 😍.
Love her 💖
Great ideas. Could you do clothing haul about some of your favorite summer outfits? Thanks
Love this! Love her!
Awweee always loved the name Zara.
@@hollimartin Sweetie read the ingredients list...there's multiple oils in this including Jojoba oil! This should be used last.
Yes! Love this
Love that Embryolisse cream as a PM moisturizer 🙌🏽
We started so well with the hand washing, and then... We're still keeping jewellery on, rubbing our face, and not double cleansing.... Honey, your skin won't improve until you put in the work, and do your research!! You have the means!!!!!!!! I know, and I agree, I love buying skincare that might work on me !! Use your oil cleanser and then a water based one, use a toner (or even rose water), get your moisturizer and then oil again !!! you will see the benefits of having a correct routine, not just anything that you liked and you are slapping it on your face...
Her routine reminds me of mine minus the expensive products . And yes even if u have oily skin don't and never dry it out ..
Wow love this😍
Omg. You have beautiful skin.
