The swastika-shaped building at the Naval Amphibious Base Coronado has a fascinating and controversial history. Designed by architect John Mock in the late 1960s, the shape was not intended to resemble a swastika. The design consists of four L-shaped barracks arranged around a central courtyard, which was only noticed from aerial views long after construction was completed. Interestingly, when Google Earth made these aerial views widely available, the building's resemblance to a swastika became more widely known, prompting public outcry. The Navy initially claimed the design was an oversight and, under pressure, allocated funds to modify the appearance of the buildings. They spent $600,000 on landscaping and architectural changes to obscure the swastika shape from the air, but the core structure remains the same. Despite these efforts, the shape is still recognizable from above. Adding to the intrigue, some believe the adjacent buildings, which resemble aircraft, were intentionally designed to appear as though they were attacking the swastika, symbolizing the defeat of Nazi Germany. This theory, while compelling, is not officially supported by historical records.
Doubt thats what its meant to be. Also do some research on that symbol before you automatically assume its a swastika. It was used well before the german nazis.
Show that architect anything describing Operation Paperclip. How would he lawyer himself out of that?, I wonder. Yeah, NASA's founder, Wernher von Braun had nothing to do with the Austrian frustrated painter's party, right?
It’s actually a pretty efficient use of space, most people don’t realize zoning laws make limitation on building height, so to make the most amount of apartments in a certain acreage with windows and a view this design makes sense. And people see what they want to see.
German's never used the word swastika, nor did they know this word. They called it haken Cruz (hooked cross) but Xtians got offended by this at that time so they changed it to the name of other culture's name which has nothing to do with European wars
So the two aircraft looking buildings were made before the "swastika" building. I think the designer had a sense of humor. He was probably thinking "those two buildings next to where my building will be, look like old WW2 bombers from the air. Hmm. I think I have an idea!"

Its really unfortunate that such a simple shape has such bad ties. We need to erase those ties and let the symbol go back to representing its religious origins
For anyone who thinks it's a swastika, it's not. It's actually in the shape of the symbol for the Black Sun (the nazis mirror imaged it to create the swastika... classic inversion used in sa'tanic messaging, eg. Alistair Crowley). The design is genius & highly efficient in architecture & while most symbols have meanings, this was a great design. Buildings w/ separate courtyards, parking around the perimeter.
True. And their boss is probably Jewish who are aware of the difference between the older and Asian version of the swastika and the Nazi version which has never even been referred to as the swastika

This theory, while compelling, is not officially supported by historical records.
poor old man, literally his lifes work getting twisted by people looking into a fat nothing burger, i feel bad for that guy in particular.
Doubt thats what its meant to be. Also do some research on that symbol before you automatically assume its a swastika. It was used well before the german nazis.
If you look for something hard enough, you will find it everywhere.
The villain hideout is everywhere
The villain hideout:

Someone please inform CBS 8 there is a cloud swastika in the sky and it often sports a Hitler mustache.
Looks closer to a Buddhist symbol to me. A swastika is tilted on a 45° angle. Know your history.
They did it on purpose.
German's never used the word swastika, nor did they know this word. They called it haken Cruz (hooked cross) but Xtians got offended by this at that time so they changed it to the name of other culture's name which has nothing to do with European wars
They really took four giant L's here 😬🙈
So the two aircraft looking buildings were made before the "swastika" building. I think the designer had a sense of humor. He was probably thinking "those two buildings next to where my building will be, look like old WW2 bombers from the air. Hmm. I think I have an idea!"

It still not Nazi symbol, I don't know if builder wanted that to be case but this one is Hindu Swastik, Nazi is tilted one.
For thousands of years the Swastika means - have a nice day - in Asia
Its a building who gives af
People choose to be ignorant of other cultures and want to stay in their bubble. No one can help those poor souls.
Fun fact: Depending on who you are a conspiracy charge is one of the hardest to beat in a court of law go figure.
Swastika is a symbol of Buddhism, it means peace, then thousands, and other means. There is a difference between Swastica and the fake one which Nazi use. I’m not sure where the building is, but maybe it was meant to build as Buddhism’s swastica.
Mate there are so many swastika’s in Europe and Asia not for hate for luck and their just everywhere
There was a large one on a 19th century lakeside hotel near me in Canada. It was called the Swas tica Inn when it opened. As you said, it was a common symbol for good luck.
you mean there are no swastikas in Europe because it's offensive there unless if you're a Neo-nazi
you mean there are no swastikas in Europe because it's offensive there
@@benginaldclocker2891 Not put in since WW2, but the symbol was literally used for thousands of years before that. Early Romans painted it on their shields. It was a sun symbol, nothing more.
It's 4 L shaped buildings. Nothing more
Its really unfortunate that such a simple shape has such bad ties.
Makes me wonder if it's politically intentional or just for a architectural structural practice do to stability and reduce space usage
The construction workers knew what they were doing.
Some of them are most likely Jews who thinks that the design is artistic and has nothing to do with the anti semitic message
The architect drew the lines on the paper and the construction workers made it manifest.
True. And their boss is probably Jewish who are aware of the difference between the older and Asian version of the swastika and the Nazi version which has never even been referred to as the swastika
@@sandrajones1609 And now they pull the architect's pension cause they are
b!tches.
They were only following orders.
They took the L on this one.
Maybe get rid of all the terrible barracks. Snyder hall is horrible.
So symbolic of California's continuing commitment to all things FASCIST.
I suppose a building built in a cross shape means the builder was a Christian, an a-frame building was built by an atheist or anarchist, and a square house was built by a square? Get a life people!
They built this way on purpose
It has been around a lot longer than the Nazis.
Nazis live in your head rent free
Just optimized land use and lighting.
Beautiful beautiful building. Never ever ever let them take this from us please. Ty

Seeing as the symbol is thousands of years old the only ones upset are the grossly misinformed ones
"L' s rotated around a center point" is basically how you describe a swastika. I'm over here spamming the X button for "doubt"
Then you're an idiot.
It sure does last longer than the German version did
As well as the evil that drove the holocaust....
....A product of the United States!
Proof we are living in a simulation.
Yeah I'm sorry there is no way that entire plan came without knowing what it would end up looking like. The planes flying at the structure??? C'mon....Not funny but funny.
Only morons associate this with something bad. Not only was the symbol widely used *long* before the former German regime, but this building isn't even that. This is a literal non-story that nobody on Earth should even *pretend* to care about -- yet here people like you are.
Let’s all blame trump, anything controversial? Blame trump.
Swastika is also a hindu symbol and it dates back to before Christ 1500-2500 years ago. I don't have any problem with the building.
You know Christ was over 2000yrs ago so if it was 1500yrs ago it’s not BC!
Simple math lil buddy…
@Compliment_Thief I mean 1500 years ago BEFORE Jesus was born.
Nein out of ten building 😂😂😂
When I was stationed at Amphibious Construction Battalion -1, rumor was our barracks once housed German POW's.
There's no way this can't be coincidental.
When you asked a german to build a building:
Nah The Buliding Is Reacreating History💀
