I feel like this movie is so underrated and under appreciated. Terrific acting all around
People's reactions when they find out someone they care about has cancer...has always confused and frustrated me. When I told my family, it was just like another day at the office. I couldn't tell if they were trying not to freak out in front of me, or what? People wouldn't visit in the hospital, I found out later, because they "didn't know what to say." It would have been cathartic to have a reaction like they show in this movie, where people have all sorts of emotions - even anger. It's so much better than apathy...
that is very strange, I'm sorry you found out about such a scary diagnosis & then nobody reached out like they naturally should have! I cannot imagine going through that or doing that to someone. I hope it's a type that is curable & you found it early 🙏 I wish you love & peace 💗
I think we all deal with it differently. When I had to tell my parents my diagnosis, and again when I was going in for surgery, I told my mom "Do not cry." Not like as in, comforting her, but as in ordering her (kindly). I could not handle that reaction on top of processing all my own emotions. It's just a very personal experience. I'm so sorry if you didn't feel supported or cared for, that must have been very hard.
No matter how many times I see this movie, I cry.
Jenna Malone deserved an award for this scene
Her acting was beyond superb ❤
The acting in this movie is beyond
Truth
YES
I miss old movies
Бедненькая 😞
I definitely miss the Ms. Robert's golden age.
I miss old movies too except more like from the 30s and 40s
Me too.
It's called nostalgia; trust me, nothing has changed.
This is such a beautiful movie. The acting is absolutely out of this world. I know Susan's character acts cruel but you love her anyway, because she's a complex character and you understand the emotions she's struggling with and why she goes on the attack.
She acts cruel? She acts appropriately in this situation.
@@mollycule2792how!!???? She was a total passive aggressive asshole. Glad she was the one who got cancer out of the two tbh
I remember when my mom was first diagnosed with cancer, breast cancer, I just stared at her when she told me, she recently finished chemo, but, she still needs other procedures and treatments done, my cousins threw her a small surprise party at my Nana’s on her last day of chemo.
Best of luck 🍀
"You do not run run out on your mother!!"
"No that's your job!"

True facts
I would have been choking on my teeth if formed my lips to say some shit like that.
But what lies did she tell 🤔
@@juliaalexander5788 if you watched the film - the mother kicked the father out
Anytime Cancer is mentioned I tear up. I don't want my cancer to come back.
Same. 😢
Me neither! Praying for all of us to do more than survive… thrive💕
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Blessing for a long life of remission!
Neither do I. Everyone who was diagnosed with me has all passed away.
"You do not run out on your mother."
"No. That's your job."
If i said that to my parents as a teen, I'd be picking up my teeth from the floor.
True but she wasn’t wrong
The daughter was a brat.
@@robertsander8509my thoughts exactly
@@robertsander8509bratty? Possibly. A teenager full of heightened emotions and big changes in her life and having to mentally process all of that? I don’t blame her for feeling that way.
If you said that to your parents, and that happened, that is what we call abuse.
Girl heard "I have cancer" and went right to "Are you dying?" Jiminy Cricket, lady!
After losing my Mom to cancer, I can never imagine speaking to her that way, knowing she was sick and needed love and support.
For all of you fighting cancer or knows anyone who is fighting etc Im rooting for you and them I hope a day comes when its all curable ❤❤❤ Bless you all!
It's been curable but with oligarchy still in place people like you believe that it's not. Keeping it around makes a lot of people very rich. There's no "cure" for a reason.
i had it and won, but i'm still waiting for some kind of star trek machine that you get in it and fully cures you
@@nylotus why would they hide that information when they and their families are people who could get cancer too. I work in government health and, not only have I or my colleagues never heard of this, we can't even organise the correct photocopying paper, let alone plan some worldwide cover up.
thank you
@@JP-ks7eycongrats! 18 years strong here!
Clever writing not seen anymore in movies.
Clever? This movie is highly checkbox 101.
Ain't no mountain high enough have a whole new meaning to it after watching this movie 😢
FACTS, this and Remember the Titans
Oh, I cry like a baby when I hear it.
I remember going through this exact same talk with my mom and sister about my dad who was fighting Alzheimer’s but the dementia kind and we were all torn and unfortunately he just passed away this year after fighting 10 years I love and miss him everyday! ❤️
I’m sorry for your loss. I hope your heart heals 💕
So sorry. My Condolences for you loss. 😢
Im so sorry for your loss and I hope he's smiling down on you ❤ my Papa comes to visit me in my dreams sometimes
I watch this movie all the time. Now, it's much harder to watch. I never thought my life would mimic this movie. Now, I only have my Stepmom. I lost my Dad to cancer at a young age & my mom 6 years before him. Cancer has taken 12 out of my 22-person family. I still love this movie, it just hits a lot closer to home now. 💓💓💓
I had to do the same thing to tell everyone my family and friends that I had cancer last year . I was scared .
How are you feeling now?

This was a hard scene. My mom died when I was 15 of cancer.
I’m so sorry for your loss, but at least she’s in a better place and no longer suffering.
@@Strongwidow5585 thank you.
I was 16 when my mom died of breast/ovarian cancer She was only 51. My sister died at 56 from the same thing. Me and my other two sisters have had breast cancer too. I hate cancer. I am sorry for your loss.
@@stacydavis1682 I’m sorry for your loss and everything you have had to go through! My mom was 48 when she died.
Isabelle really felt for Jackie after she said oncologist 😢
Cancer is awful, but so much worse for children, who are expecting their adults to keep them safe. So sad.
I can totally understand not telling the kids straight away. It's hard enough to worry about yourself, without having to worry about them. It also takes a long time to digest the information yourself, let alone help them absorb it.
Jenna played such a typical teenager
@@MsJubjubbird Maybe not right away, but not for an endless period of time. It breaks trust in them beyond repair. My mother waited until two days before she went on dialysis before telling me and my brother that she was sick at all. I haven't trusted her not to lie or keep secrets ever since. I do my best to keep my distance from her, and instead, spend time with others that I can actually trust.
Sometimes good movies are all about this: feelings, emotions, expressions, lines, and the simple life. No Special effects, no CGI, no mass production...sometimes it's just this: a slice of life. One of the best movies I've ever seen.
❤
As someone who has been fighting cancer for the last two years, it isn't really "we're going to beat this" but I'm going to beat this
Yes You Are!!! Good luck and God Bless. Stay strong and know that people are praying for you.
I see you posted this reply 7 months ago. How are you doing now?
@@cealcat7063 Thank you for asking. A week before Christmas, they had to remove the inside of my prostate. What they took out equaled the size of 2 normal size prostates & it came back malignant. Turns out, I have 2 separate cancers but the doctor said that the Invasive Melanoma is more serious
@@bobbennett2602 Oh I’m sorry, cancer is so brutal. I will remember you in my prayers. Are you Christian?

Unfortunately in this movie it just comes off as a tool to me.
@@melanieparker I don't like Susan's movies eneyway!

Honestly, the conversation between the two of them…it proves that true love never dies, it just changes its face on occasion
Jenna malone man such a great actress
YES SHE IS AMAZING ❤
Shes terrific in Saved
This Movie Had Me Crying So Much
I remember I cried so much watching this as a young girl.
The cinematography is awesome!
6:40 I love Susan’s reaction.
Poor Anna I know she couldn't take it
Jena Malone was fantastic in this movie.
This movie always makes me think of my parents. After they divorced and I lived half the time with each, I caught each of them watching it separately. I always thought that meant this just had to be a great movie. And it is.
I love this movie! Great actors, and a tearjerker
Miss Sarandons brother owns a bar down the road here.....atleast he did pre covid.....would see Miss Sarandon there once in a while......the town would buzz with "Sudan Sarandon is in town".....she is quote pretty actually in person.....have smiled and said hello....she was gracious but wanted to be left alone with her drink.

Almost all the women in my family get small cell breast cancer. None of us have the BRACA genes but since we’re all over the world and small cell breast cancer is extremely rare, it accounts for less than 1% of breast cancers, it’s genetic. Then there’s me, my body decided multi-organ failure due to internal malformations was the way to go. My three daughters understand though, we didn’t hide anything from them.
I'm so sorry you're going through that I hope that you can make it through or at least make it to where you're comfortable❤ I'll be praying for you if that's okay ❤

Brilliant
Top 5 of favorite movies. Susan Sarandon is just the greatest!
I hate how she never stopped loving him he stopped loving her, sad.
Love this movie
A series of unfortunate events
This is a great movie. I remember bawling when I watched this, and wanting to be proposed to the way Julia Roberts was lol
I always love Jenna ever since!!!!
I need to see this movie now that him an adult I watched it when I was a teenager. I hope I can get through it
Very sad movie
For someone who’s kids are everything to him,he’s certainly doesn’t have very many scenes together in the movie, with them.
I had cancer too and that’s all I think about especially when I get sickn
This movie is so good
Did we really have to bleep the swear word?
Yep
Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts did a great job showcasing the struggles of coparenting after a divorce when other parental figures enter your child’s life.
Isabelle was little concern Jackie.
Jackie to afraid to tell people that she has cancer and afraid for her kids ex-husband children and Isabelle.
She had every right to snoop kinda.
Never hid a serious illness
I thought this was an underrated movie.
My mom just passed away in April 2024 she was first Diagnosed in October 2023.
I'm so sorry to hear about this. My dad lost his battle in March of 1989 ❤️❤️
This movie makes me wanna screammmmmmmm cos its so ridiculous yet so real
Wow cool video
I always wondered what type of cancer she had
Acho que era câncer de mama
@@gi_milliole I think it was colon cancer
I think it was skin cancer because when she was talking to her son on the phone she said they had to remember to put sunscreen if they meet on the beach in their dream and the son said “it’s a dream we don’t need to wear sunscreen” and she looks sullen.
Breast cancer im pretty sure
I just realized the axe-wielding tribute in The Hunger Games movie series is played by the daughter! I've always wondered why she looked familiar.
The sound so quiet on this can barely hear it
It's fine on mine. Also, the conversations are pretty intimate - not things that would be spoken loudly.
I like this movie
I remember watching this as a child and being so irritated by Julia Robert’s character and the dad.
When this came out, the “secret” was kept secret.
My riend’s close aunt died of breast cancer. She was really sad and her family was in Australia and she couldn’t go. I thought to myself “ I’ll take her to move to take moms off of it. “
I chose this one. 😑😞
🖤

It’s not even an old movie
I freaking love me some Julia Roberts
I think of Peggy Young and Neil and Darryl
A lot of kids in these movies are brats.
Or they weren't taught to heal? Maybe they haven't gotten to the people pleasing stage to make everyone feel comfortable about the mistakes their parents made?
@@juliaalexander5788 or they were just brats.
@michelleduvall4685 I guess that makes it easier if they were brats, then the only ones to take accountability would be kids not the adults 🤔

"Old movies"?! Everybody is still 13 years old!
Right? "Old movies" to me are black and white.
The time when the movies were good and worth watching.
She really was a witch and her kids were goofy little brats. It was really difficult to like Susan's character.
