I had great success with a J White LTO chassis many years ago! I ran a Gifford WKA stock motor against stock local track rules, no cam lift spacing and I won 7 of the 11 races I participated in! I came with a van full of tires, I beat these fellas on dry, slick tracks essentially with less less motor and more tire! Never prepped tires, never cheated on fuel, just flat out drove them! I raced against one of the Kinser boys, he didn’t run an air filter and his carb throat was filled with dirt, he claimed it flowed better, I kicked his ass as well!
@@MondayMoto Northern Indiana, I raced Akron IN Speedway full time and Windfall IN speedway on occasion. Akron was semi banked, Windfall was crazy banked and tiny. In the turns the infield was well above your head. If you lifted or touched the brake at Windfall you were gonna get run over! I loved kart racing and was thinking about racing a senior class but there are no dirt tracks that I am aware of in my area . There is a asphalt road racing track a few miles from my home and although I won a season championship my first year racing on a road racing track it never really interested me like dirt ovals and for spending thousands of dollars you got a ten dollar plastic trophy, I actually made a profit the last year I raced at Akron. Kinda funny story, I flipped in the hairpin the first year I raced, dislocating my shoulder! My girlfriend would not go to the races after that until I raced dirt and convinced her it was slower and safer. On Her first visit to the dirt track I slid up out of four and flipped in a heat race. Jumped up, righted the kart and won the heat from the rear of the field! She never attended another race! LOL!
Looks so fun. Building track in my yard and got kart my bro built he copied a frame from the net somewhere. Its offset. He has another so when I get the track done we will be racing he has more race parts mine not so much but I'll still beat him lol. Hopefully we will build a bunch more for our friends. Im in town so can't get to crazy we will have to run mufflers but small price to pay to keep the town happy.
You should allow billet, just for safety. I’m not sure if y’all have ever seen a cast flywheel come apart. I race lawnmowers and in every class that is built must run a billet flywheel
I LOVE hearing that KT100! I run that on my Birel and recognize that whine immediately! GOD I've got to find some dirty dirt trackers here in Texas! Please, Lord, let me find these people this year!
Man if anyone with an extra kart ever needs a wheelman I would make the trip from Cleveland Ohio. This looks like so much fun and I really wanna see if I can be as good on dirt as I was on asphalt.
@@MondayMoto your very welcome, let a cart flip and the exhaust land on your arm, or a kart come up on your kart, it wasn’t meant to be sarcastic it was a genuine comment regarding safety.

That’s the way modern karts are setup. Both right side tires are the same and widest on kart. Then the left rear is “medium sized and the left front is the smallest on the kart. They are not only narrower but different heights too which causes the kart to want to naturally turn left. That’s referred to as “stagger.
Thanks! Yeah we are trying to create a sprint car type kart racing, not so much under-powered super speedway type racing. Short track, slick tire, no front bodywork, and more power than you can use 💪😜
@@MondayMoto only advice I know I could give is what u can do to make it more driving ability than who has the fastest cart is best .only run gasoline ,nothing else.runming other fuel was the mistake we made back in the day.the idea should be,keep it as cheap to race as u can so more people can afford to do it.
@@shanehester5317 I chose our rules to keep my job as a tech official to a minimum. If I were to require a fuel, I’d then have to test peoples fuels. So instead we leave it open and keep tracks short so you can only use so much power.

i dont like these rules. if you spin out or are involved in a caution , you get your spot back before the green flag flies again. thats not fair to the guys who were not involved and get put behind the ones who were.
Slicks on dirt? Wouldn't it be better to have tread? Even the lowest class stock car at your local dirt tract has tread. Interesting. Looks like a lot of fun!!
From my understanding, it depends on track conditions. Slicks can be faster on hard slick tracks, and treads are better on moist heavy tracks. It’s very common for karts to run slicks on dirt though. 👍
When I first started running a kart on dirt, I was quickly amazed by how much traction a slick can have. I’m sure a tread can do better but you need to understand that my intention is to create a traction limited series so tech enforcement is minimal. More traction means more horsepower means more money, when there are minimal engine rules. So this is an attempt at keeping cost down too.
@@smitty0655able......you've obviously never raced anything in your entire life.....go back to mommy's basement son.....this conversation is beyond you lmao
Easy now, Grooves are good for a backyard track with nothing but loose dirt. A well run in racing track slicks are faster. Once you learn how weight transfers and adjusting the kart accordingly your lap times will improve. Knowing tires and set up is the most important thing in kart racing.
It is still racing….so it’s more expensive then most hobbies lol, but in the world of racing it’s literally as cheap as it gets! I’ve been around racing for my entire professional career and I can tell you first hand, no matter the cost involved racing doesnt get anymore fun per $1 than this!
i maybe 65 year's old but that look's like a blast to me

How is the timing kept? Are you using like an RC lap timing system with transponders?
We used a stop watch for qualifying back then. We no longer qualify and use a pill draw system now.
