The Mary story they were building was amazing. You can really see the hardship and humiliation she endured as a young woman that defined her queenship. And the actress was amazing!

Everyone always likes Anne Boleyn. I don't mind her but she certainly does not represent things I value like kindness and empathy (my opinion of her). That being said, if we are talking show, I love Anne or rather Natalie Dormer's portrayal of her. I think seasons one and two are the best because of the chemistry between Natalie and Jonathan. Also my heart breaks every time for Anne when she realizes that Henry no longer loves her. I simply wish he had not done away with her with such cruelty.
Natalie dormer is prob one of the reasons people love anne so much right now. But i do believe that she gave a accurate portrayal of Anne Boleyn, concidering how passionate she is about her. And sure she wasn't the kindest, but that is understandeble during that time kindness was somewhat of a weakness especially with woman. Plus her fate makes her the most tragic queen together with Katherine Howard.

I absolutely adore Sarah Bolger as Lady/Princess Mary. She's so regal without even trying. And the look she gives Katherine after "You are now my stepdaughter" is just...DAMN.

She's right. The real Henry VIII after his jousting accident in 1536, began eating excessively. He ate about 5000 calories a day and rarely exercised due to the painful ulcers on his legs. At the time of his death, he was about 390 lbs. Jonathan Ryhs Myers looks totally different than the real Henry, as he is skinny throughout the entire show, had jet black hair, and was 5'8'' and while the real Henry was a ginger, morbidly obese and over 6 feet tall.

Throughout most of the real King Henry's life he was actually beautiful, athletic, charming, and had an extremely great character. However a man made a mockery of him saying he wasn't a real man because he didn't have a son and because of that it ruined everything, and then he had the accident and began to gain weight.

This was one of the best shows showtime ever produced. It was such a heavy timepiece that took such a risky and different twist for any ring like it at the time. It's under appreciated to this very day.

Time to do the next season showing Edward's reign, and then on to the two sisters. And the actress playing Mary must stay. She was absolutely brilliant in this role.
Out of his wives, I miss the Queens Jane Seymour and Anne Boleyn. They were both my favorite queens on the show.

...what a great show, Season Four was the best...Catherine Howard/Tamzin Merchant was one heck of a story line...Trevor Morris composed excellent music for this...Catherine's last dance, The Execution Ballet, when Culpepper and Dereham are sent to the block is the best music and the best scene in the entire show....

Why are some you so triggered by the inaccuracies in this drama? It's a damned television show, NOT a documentary. It's first job as a TELEVISION show is to ENTERTAIN. Good grief, the silly things you people bitch about. History has already been long since established. A mere television drama isn't going to undo what actually happened. As as for those of you who think it is the job of a television show to educate you, you need your heads examined. Instead of expecting a television drama to INFORM you, get your lazy ass to the library and read a damned history book.
I watched it once and loved it. Always loved Henry growing up in school. Couldn't get enough of him. Then in 2016, I began working on my family tree. My soul must have known the connection long before I did. Henry is my 14th GGF. QE1 and Mary are both cousins.

I just thought I share something after many years of this show. On Season 2 Episode 4 at the 40:20 mark on the bottom right hand corner of the screen there is a small orb that moves down then immediately goes to the left. It’s not a screen containment or camera effect. Seeing how some of the filming actually took place at the actual sites I’m not surprised you guys caught a spirit.
The Tudors is such a special show to me. I was 11 in 2007 when it started 13 in 2010 when it ended and DID NOT watch during the original run, however my mother did. I remember begging her to watch but she said it was too adult for me. So instead I set out to learn as much Tudor history as I could, to impress her and maybe she'd let me watch. That failed but the Tudors ended up being my favorite royal dynasty because of it. I finally did get to watch the show when I was 17- and I loved it!!!! One of my favorite tv shows of all time!
I watched that scene where the guy gets hanged drawn and quartered when I was 14.
It's been 11 years and I still can't watch that scene. Horrific.

Wow, an amazing end to the series for me. The battle scenes, the ghost visions, the tragic deaths of Anne Askew, Surrey, the end of the power plays by Gardiner, wow so many epic moments. His last Queen owns her life to his ever changing mood almost, is it wrong to feel some sympathy for Henry even?. He was a product of his times for sure, so we have to see his actions and the actions of others then as acceptable by their day. The fact that Henry broke England away from Europe in political and religious ways probably saved Britain from the fate of the Continent for a while. So, does any British people want him back in charge now that country has gone to the Dogs?.

They really could have continued on and I think viewership would have actually risen if they had. Edward, Jane Grey and especially Mary's stories are so very beyond exciting. They are so rich...you can't make that stuff up it's so good. The road to Elizabeth would have been wonderful to see.

I was fascinated with Tudor history. Tried so hard to watch this show from canada which wasn't available on any channel. Took me months to find a web public the show. I was so disappointed. They made henry viii act like a dumb and savage king when he was actually a kind, good and compassionate person in the beginning of his reign. And they made him seem not be able to do anything while he was actually good. They said he was good at sports, musics and he was good at everything he touched. 😭

In the order of history, the white queen came first. Elizabeth Woodville was Henry the 8ths Maternal Grandmother. But in order of their release: the motion picture Elizabeth came first in 1998, Then,Elizabeth the Golden age hit theaters in 2007. The Tudors came out the same year, and rapped in 2010. The White Queen came out this year. I had to mention Elizabeth because I believe some of the same people that worked on those two movie's worked on the Tudors. You can look at them as being apart of that story line, though they are skipping around with the order of events.

It was a good thing that Henry divorced Katherine for Anne. This gave England Elizabeth and it also loosened the grip of the Catholic Church on England.

No it's not. Mary could've had a wonderful reign without the anxiety and mental illnesses Anne gave her. She could have been beautiful but the trauma made her ugly, and wanting vengeance. It was insisted that when she was a kid, she was the most beautiful girl in court. Then she got exiled from court and the trauma took more of its effect on her elder years. Because Anne married Henry, she ruined a little girl's life.
...season 4 is the best....I love Kitty, she had such a love for life, just too young to survive in that court...the best episode in the entire series is the one where Kitty and Culpepper go to the block...and Kitty dances while her love letter is being read during Culpepper's execution and Dereham's horrible death (and that haunting melody, The Executioner's Ballet)...Kitty "life is very beautiful"...
Ah, makes sense. I have the three current seasons on DVD and the special features goes on about how women who were fairer were more saught after: pale blonds and the like. Where as Anne Boelyn was something of a delicacy, darker hair, slightly more tanned skin.
