Dan expresses his annoyance with Jackie always being over at their house to Roseanne, but while Dan and Roseanne are taking a relationship test in the back of a teen magazine for fun, his annoyances about Jackie come to the surface in front of her. When she comments that he wouldn't even notice so much if he had a job, Dan is pushed too far. Darlene is making a castle for extra credit because she is flunking History, but D.J. accidentally destroys it, causing a fight between the two.
Roseanne is an American sitcom television series created by Matt Williams and Roseanne Barr, which aired on ABC from October 18, 1988, to May 20, 1997, and briefly revived from March 27, 2018, to May 22, 2018. The show stars Barr as Roseanne Conner and revolves around her family in the fictional town of Lanford, Illinois. Receiving generally positive reviews for its realistic portrayal of a working-class American family, the series reached No. 1 in the Nielsen ratings from 1989 to 1990 in its second season.
During the initial run, the series remained in the top four for six of the nine seasons, and in the top 20 for eight. During the short-lived revival, the series reached No. 3, with an average of 18 million viewers per episode within the span of its nine episodes. In 1993, the episode "A Stash from the Past" was ranked No. 21 on TV Guide's 100 Greatest Episodes of All-Time. In 2002, Roseanne was ranked No. 35 on TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time. In 2013, it was ranked No. 32 on TV Guide's 60 Best Series of All Time.
On May 16, 2017, ABC announced it had greenlit a revived, 10th season of Roseanne as a mid-season replacement in 2018, with the original cast returning. In November 2017, ABC requested an additional episode, bringing the total to nine. It premiered on March 27, 2018, to an initial audience of 18.44 million, which grew to 27.26 million total viewers following 7 days of delayed viewing. On March 30, 2018, following the success of its premiere, Roseanne was renewed for an 11th season of 13 episodes.
ABC, however, reversed its renewal decision and canceled Roseanne on May 29, 2018, after Barr likened former Obama administration official Valerie Jarrett to Planet of the Apes, in a comment on Twitter that was described by the network's president as being "abhorrent, repugnant, and inconsistent with our values." On June 21, 2018, ABC announced plans to re-tool the show as a spin-off involving the Conner family without Roseanne Barr, entitled The Conners,[12] which premiered in October 2018.
Possibly the most realistic sitcom about the lower to lower-middle class. This is basically my family lol
was great in the first season. Cracks began to show up in season 6, 7 and starting from 8 it was just bad, with horrible 9. I was rewatching it recently and it was just amazing how different season 8 was than first 6. Totally different show.

I watched this because I wanted it to be my family. Roseanne was bossy and overbearing but she was involved and loved her kids. I used to pretend she was my mom when I was a kid.
There was so much chemistry in those early episodes.
You just know Roseanne was genuinely giggling when John and her got into that slap fight.
Roseaane and Dan (John Goodman) had great chemistry together! That is what made the series work as well as it did! Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) was in a realm all of her own. She stole every scene she was in.

I absolutely love the relationship dynamic between Roseanne and Dan, they give each other shit constantly but take it with a healthy sense of humor. They express their love for eachother openly and constantly communicating, even if they end up fighting, they are honest and open with eachother and always end up resolving their issues from a healthy place of love. Really great example of a good marriage/relationship.

One of the reasons Roseanne's show worked (before they won the lottery) was because their house looked lived in. It was a home with 3 children, a husband and a wife. Whenever you clean one room, the other room gets dirty. It looks like an average middle-class American home. It's only my son and I, so my house pretty much stays clean. But when family comes over, it looks like a 🌪tornado went through this place. And I love it😊

We honestly don’t have any real depictions of families on tv anymore. Especially of the Midwest. Everything here was authentic. The laundry basket, kid on the sofa, messy dining table, ingredients all over the kitchen counter, the sister in law situation, the phone placement, the fridge….

I loved Roseanne especially the first season!!! I can watch all episodes without skipping one! I’m glad they showed how a lower class family lived I don’t think they were middle class at all!!They literally lived paycheck to paycheck like a lot of people do in real life.

Along with Willem Dafoe, Goodman was the best super villain casting that never was.
I wish there were more shows about average families.. I haven’t watched TV in years.. never will again anyway though after finding out what really goes on in Hollywood… celebrities, politicians and big corporations🤢

I think this show really captured the day to day life of a lower middle class family. It felt so real. They sure don't make shows like this anymore. The Conners was good. But not as good as this.
I liked Rosanne cause I could relate to it , Rosanne worked minimum wage jobs and they didn’t live in a big fancy house.

That was common practice when my mom & her mom....& her mom cooked sauce! I once commented on it amusingly & they told me "It adds flavor. Besides, the heat kills everything." LOL They are right!

Couldn’t they bring Roseanne back like they did Dan. Just do an episode where she wakes up in the hospital and Dan jumps up and saids “Rosie?, I had to think of life without you! For like 2 seasons which is 2 seconds in tv time my dear.”
They had Roseanne playing with Dan's boxer shorts but in a later season when Roseanne was trying to get pregnant Dan complained about having to wear boxers instead of his usual briefs.

She had this little smirk on her face, at the time I assumed she was worried about being hassled by people recognizing her....but no one bothered her at all, including me. I just smiled & gave her a friendly nod, but she didn't even look me in the eye.

That is common in a lot of households, actually. I watched my mom & her mom...& even a couple other relatives do that when making pasta sauce. When I amusingly commented on it, they chuckled & said "It adds flavor. Besides, the heat kills everything." LOL They're right actually! Same as blowing out candles on a cake & everyone eats some.

But its highly unlikely eating sauce where a spoon was eaten off of & then added back into a hot batch of sauce would transmit it. For one, the heat from the stove would most likely kill it. Second, if HSV-1 is THAT easy to contract......we'd all have it from doorknobs & gas-pumps & ATM screens & all the other things humans touch dozens...& dozens of times in a day, after they eat food or touch their mouths, etc.

If someone dipped a chip , took a bite , then dipped the chip again it could be transmitted. I would also recommend not blowing out candles on cakes that went out with Barney themed birthday parties.
