It's better to buy the small bags new, but sometimes we can't because they sell out before any normal shoppers have a chance to get them. It's so frustrating to see something that I have my heart set on buying and loving be sold out by people who just scoop them up to turn around and resell for a profit. Love your point about vintage though, I'm planning to explore some vintage shops in my area!

I just picked up a 30 year old Chanel flap a few weeks ago and I have to agree, there’s just something lovely about how the leather feels!

I bought a vintage black Chanel square mini with the bijoux chain for £2,500 it’s in really good condition with some signs of wear these bags are nearly £3000 now. Much prefer the vintage square style then the newer ones.

If you close the bag in a plastic container with that charcoal pouch for a few days you can rid of the smell outside also! Leave it sealed in container for a few days and increase depending on how bad smell is and you can leave it in there until smell is gone. Works with a refrigerator baking soda box with the open side too! Hope it helps!
I actually scoured for a particular color bag new and used. It looked like new was the best option, until a consignment shop came up with one in excellent condition :). Keep all options open ☺️

There's a blue Chanel bag I'd love to buy. The new bags don't have that color, but there are blue ones that are used.
I love the point you made about what is true luxury. Buying items that could last you a long time and still look good. 👏👏👏 because that is why I love the pre-loved market. It’s proof of the product quality.
I buy most of my preloved items from vinted. Especially French people are selling things they only wore once or twice and they don't ask much money for it. Vinted does not ask taxes or anything from the sellers so all the money goes to them. This allows them to go a bit lower with prices if an item doesn't sell fast.
Sophie, another thing you can do to remove smells from bags is to put an arm and hammer baking soda refrigerator disk. They are inexpensive and you just put it inside the bag for a few days. It will pull all the smell out.

For the 1st time in my luxury journey I was able to see a jumbo. So beautiful but huge. Here in Oregon the SA quoted me $7,400. I checked fashionphile and wow, you’re better off buying preloved. I saw some for $4k

I started to read up about how to get the smell away and that was just to put an old news paper in because the ink on it would withdraw the smell and it has. I loved this video! I have a full time job, a small business and am just about to finish my self-taught degree in digital technology so have been saving up so I can purchase the Chanel bag of my dreams as a well done to me despite my brain telling me to redo the roof on our extension instead 😅
For the last 5 years I was set on buying a chanel or dior bag, but I realised that the reason I haven't bought any new bags is that I already have amazing bags from Valentino ysl and givenchy, they fulfill all my needs and still look pristine. So I bought a new ring instead, buying more bags doesn't feel that luxurious anymore.

The vintage Chanel bag I bought for my 30th this year is the exact same as yours 😍 can I also recommend to you a 3 step cleaning kit i bought. It’s basically a cleanse, tone and moisturise from a company called the handbag spa. Honestly, any slight marks or scuffs have completely disappeared. They do a special solution for lambskin leather. You should definitely have a look! 💕

Absolutely love your vintage mini. I have something close to that and yes I don't really worry about scratches as it has been tried and tested but I do take good care of it :)
Your vintage bag is beautiful. The bags with the real gold hardware are light years above the modern bags. They are just so Lux. When you wear it out at night under irregular street lighting you will notice that it glissens. The gold can get a bit dull over time but it comes up really well after a gentle polish with a gold jewellery polishing cloth. I buy them on Amazon. Enjoy!

I found a Vintage 90’s Chanel Diana Flap bag in the bigger size for $800USD/£579 at a local thrift store! I had it authenticated and everything. Classic black Lambskin with the gorgeous 24kt gold plating. I bring it out every year and do not even thing twice about it being 20+ years old!
